  2. RIP Tyler. I am truly saddened to hear this. I enjoyed watching how the team rallied for him and he truly was a great fan and representative for PU. He was far too young. We never understand it when young people are called home at such young ages. Now he'll be cheering on his beloved PU from his new home. Prayers to his family. He is in a better place. We all need to be reminded how short and fragile life on this earth is. Enjoy our time here with our loved ones!

  3. Why can we not separate the IU Basketball Player Alford from the NCAA Head Coach Alford and not be called a hater? I don't think ANYONE hates the IU Player Alford and the '87 Championship that he was a very huge part of. However, when we look at what he has done as a Head Coach in college basketball, he has not succeeded in the 2 power 5 conference jobs he has had. He did well at Manchester and New Mexico where expectations were lower. Because we are evaluating his on court results versus expectations at Iowa and UCLA, does that make us haters because we point that out? Does that mak

  5. What is going on with these concussions? Phinisee barely gets tapped on the head, and now he’s out for two weeks and maybe longer? Ridiculous. I’m starting to suspect that the situation with Kevin Wilson has something to do with this.

  6. Long time follower and lurker, I used to post on prior boards. I have a bit of an expertise with these concussions in my line of work. As we get more familiar with concussion symptoms and long term consequences for them, we are constantly looking for the best ways to identify and treat them. Certainly, RP and RT (and any child or athlete these days) would have undergone neurocognitive evaluation prior to the season as a baseline, and this is the level they would need to be returned to before they could be cleared from the protocol. It makes me cringe to read anecdotal stories on this forum

  10. For some reason, the fortunes of New Mexico men's basketball and IU men's basketball seem to have been intertwined for what seems like decades now. Some of the coaches at UNM, either coached under Bobby Knight or played for Bobby. Norm Ellenberger, and Dave Bliss. Of course there was the flirtation UNM had with Bobby Knight. Despite denying any contract talks with UNM, there were plenty of stories at the time that not only did UNM offer Bobby the job, but that Bobby flew to Albq. to check out the school and program. 13. Here is a good New Year's quote from a favorite TV show of mine: "Fresh starts thanks to the calendar they happen every year — just set your watch to January. Our reward for surviving the holiday season is a new year, bringing on the great tradition of new year's resolutions. Put your past behind you and start over. It's hard to resist the chance of a new beginning, a chance to put the problems of last year to bed."

  14. Conference tournaments only benefit teams that wouldn't get an at-large bid. No reason to have them. Rutgers could be the "Big Ten Champ" after winning one reg season conference game. They usually have very little impact on seeding. Especially bad in the one-bid leagues. Too often the reg season conference champ gets upset and goes to the NIT, while some fluke team with a losing record gets to be cannon fodder for Duke.

  16. I understand all the concerns with concussions but between Race and now RP I am wondering if it is warranted? I know long term safety is first and foremost but is it overkill? If not what in the heck is happening to cause our players to miss so much time with concussions. I have dealt with concussions as a player a coach and a parent and 2 weeks out is the longest that I have been associated with and most were back in a few days. I want the kids to be safe and have no long term effects but at the end of the day basketball is a contact sport played on a very hard surface with no padding, are we

  17. Arguably the most dominating performance ever by us in Assembly Hall. Dollar Bill didn't know what hit him.

  18. Really? Just because you miss shots doesn’t mean there are mechanical flaws. If you can’t see that he has good form, I don’t know what to tell you. Just look at what Klay Thompson was going through. He’s a career 40+% 3 pt shooter and hasn’t been able to hit the broad side of the barn recently. Plus Romeo isn’t a pure shooter. He’s a scorer and is streaky shooting the ball.

  34. I hope that I did'nt come off as an anti-Alford person because I'm not, he was a wonderful player. I lived through the whole"Pacers should have drafted Alford instead of Reggie" stuff, which as a hoosier I thought was embarassing. Reggie Miller was awesome, I loved those Pacer teams. The Davis twins. Rik Smits. I just think Alford should never have left New Mexico. That was a good gig. Sorry if I went off the rails.

  38. I agree with the poster who dislikes IU Fanbase badmouthing former IU players ! We all have a right to our own opinions !! However , Steve Alford is one of IU's best all time players and was part of 1 our 5 NCAA Championship seasons ? I'll bet Ole Steve wil not be out of work very long !!!

  39. I love Hart as much as anybody, but I don't want him as OC right now. He's too much of an unknown. I'd love to hire a top OC who we know will probably jump in a year or two if he has success, and have Hart be his understudy. When that guy leaves, Hart takes over if we feel he's ready. In the meantime, give Hart a new title and a raise to try to keep him here.

  40. Alford was perfect at New Mexico. That’s the type of job for which he should be aiming IMO. I was terrrfied we would hire him because he has support in some circles of the IU community. Now, that we’ve dodged that bullet, it doesn’t matter much to me where he should go.

  41. On GBI? That's the dumbest thing I've heard. Auburn took a knee at the 1 to end the game and kneeled before half time instead of trying score. They had backups in most of the second half and barely threw the ball. What're they supposed to do?

  42. When Green is right, he can be the difference in a Sweet 16 team and a Final Four team. This is a great sign for us.

  43. I disagree. He is a long, long way from being in game shape. The surgery and his condition were serious. We’re already 11 games into the season. The team is making decisions based on what’s best for him. No reason to rush him back or play him late in the season with the idea he’ll leave after 3 anyway. When he comes back he’ll be 100 percent and ready for a full season

  44. Hate to see a guy have to take a redshirt year because of this, but I'm pulling for this kid. Somewhat selfishly, I was REALLY looking forward to seeing he and Romeo on the court at the same time. But maybe this is a blessing in disguise. JH will have a partial year of practice under his belt and a full year of being around the team, learning the system. He may provide the instant scoring that will leave with RL going to the draft. Just trying to look at the bright side.
