Robert Phinesee scored 2 pts on 1-6 shooting when he was a Jr All Star. Maybe we should have let him go to another school too.15 points

We have 4 scholarships available. We haven't made the tourney in the last three seasons. Ummmm....are we really questioning recruiting a top 100 player from Indiana...one we have a decent possibility of signing? Oh wait....I forgot...he didn't score a lot in an All-Star game.10 points

I’m starting to see the side of some fans that some recruits talk about. Pretty sad really.5 points

Leal is a stud.. he is absolutely a top 100 player in the country. We will be very happy we took both he and Galloway three years from now. You win those types of kids, period.4 points

That is really pathetic and just points to the ineptness of the university administration. Spending on all the new construction yet ignoring students’ basic housing needs. Really makes me wonder about the current leadership in Bloomington4 points

He avged 20p a game as a Jr at Bloomington South. That's pretty much all you need to know. He has scored well over 1,000 points in his career. Some stupid All Star game should change absolutely nothing. Tre Coleman scored 20+ in this game and I can promise you, having coached against both, Leal is a much better player. Bloom South doesnt play anyone that isn't high IQ. He can do whatever you want offensively. He guards the entire length of the court.. very long and he has really developed in the weight room in the last 1.5 years. There is absolutely no reason we shouldn't be recruiting him and Galloway both. They can flat out play.3 points

I don't see Leal as an impact player. I would be surprised if he ever made an All-Conference team. But, when you give out 11 scholarships (that sounds so much better than 13), you're going to need guys who embrace the team concept. Does not mean that Anthony will be an end of the bench guy, just that it's doubtful he'll ever be THE guy. But, he can be a vital cog in a good IU team. Damon Bailey was a team player at IU. He wasn't Calbert Cheaney. He wasn't Alan Henderson. Heck, he may not even have been Greg Graham. But, gosh he was super valuable to those IU teams (and I personally think the '92-'93 team was every bit as good as '75-'76) when Henderson was healthy.2 points

The problem with these highlights tapes is they make most everyone look great. Heck I remember people thinking Peter Jurnkin was the real deal after watching his videos.2 points

I thought Romeo's talent was undeniable when I watched IU games. He just needs to be more assertive in the next level. As he finishes his rehab, his shooting will get much better. Drafting him in mid to late first round would be a steal.2 points

Depending on the frosting, it might taste better than some of their cakes. And if you ever want a self-esteem boost and just sheer morbid entertainment, go to a Walmart in east/central Kentucky on Black Friday. It's Deliverence meets Jackass meets Supermarket Sweep. You haven't lived until you've seen two redneck women, both of whom had to outweigh me by 150 lbs each, engaged in fisticuffs over who got to the stack of towels first.2 points

Um, why? Sorry, I just don't see how a 20 year old with (possibly) bad knees who shot 18% from the field last season addresses any needs that we have.2 points

https://news.iu.edu/stories/2018/12/iu/releases/07-residence-hall-renovation-plans-accelerated.html McNutt and Foster obviously in bad shape, but Teter was already being renovated, plans to build a new building next to mcnutt was in the works, and Forest, Read and Wells already got updated. Unions St center was build just ten years ago, and when I was in undergrad 20 or so years ago I remember Wilkie getting remodeled as I was jealous of that they had a bathroom for every two rooms instead of the shared bathroom for the floor. I know others have gotten new windows but not sure if they got full treatment. But I think the statement the dorms have not gotten updated and/or built are not accurate, and McNutt and Foster were accelerated because of the crazy mold issue. Can’t close all the dorms at the same time when the campus is already overcrowded as it is. I'm not a big McRobbie fan but I think a more accurate picture of the state of our campus is worth pointing out.2 points

Okay someone sell me on why we should add this guy to our roster? I know nothing about him but being a local and scheduling visits to Cincinnati and Stanford. That along with 5pts tells me he’s not Big Ten worthy and let’s move along folks. Again, sell me on why we should keep recruiting him?2 points

Thanks for the link to the article. Because of the link I participated in a trustee vote for the first time. The article mentions Robbie taking roughly 27 million of Big Ten Network money to help pay for an academic building. While I agree academics should come first ( and let’s face it, the academic side of IU has not exactly thrived under Robbie....he has done a poor job) I do not understand why he could not have taken those funds from the IU endowment which is approximately 2,229,000,000. Why do universities have this never ending thirst to build huge endowments? When is the pile of dough big enough? Tapping the endowment for the 27 million, and leaving all the BT network money for the athletic department, would have reduced the endowment to 2,202,000,000 which is basically a rounding error.2 points

Yeah not much out their on him. Maybe worth the risk if he is only playing on staying a year or two.1 point

That move starting at about 4:27 is just sick. He's got some really nice moves. ...but yeah...if he really shot 18% for the season, not sure that's an answer for IU unless there's interest in changing the name from Hoosiers to Bricklayers.1 point

Thanks...found this video...Steve Nash...that may be a stretch.. lol but he does seem to be a good ball handler and could possibly back up Rob until say Lander comes along.1 point

A couple were. But most are in bad shape with mold. Class action law suit against IU going on right now due to all the illness from it. IU bought out a lot of apartment buildings for the next couple years to deal with housing while dorms are getting remodeled.1 point

I don't usually subscribe to it, but I do in this case, and it's not really anything negative about Durant, he's a fantastic, almost un-guardable player. It's between him and LeBron for best player in the world. But this Golden State team is different. Their system is unique and they feature maybe the most unique superstar in NBA history in Steph Curry. But, when you throw Durant in the mix they become more like every other team in the NBA, just that their best player is better than almost everyone else, but it's still just the same stuff as everyone else. What makes GS so great is not only how they shoot, but the movement they utilize between Curry and Thompson, and the passing/play-making of Green. it's so unique in the current NBA. When you throw Durant in there, the movement slows down considerably and what makes, especially Curry and Green, them so great gets minimized. Are they more talented with Durant? Absolutely. Are they better? I'm not so sure.1 point

They just built new apartments right next to Assembly Hall (actually just west of Memorial Stadium on Dunn) where all of the players live, including freshmen.1 point

Completely agree. When I spoke with his Dad last week we discussed how Trey really isn't on social media, and not into self promotion -- he just wants to win. Definitely a guy that can be the foundation of a culture. FWIW, I think his ranking is going to soar when they are updated. He will be a top 100 4-star for sure.1 point

Siap there’s an article up on Indy Star with multiple people in the bus. picking where Romeo (and Edwards) will get drafted. The range they pick Romeo at is between 7 and 13. Some pretty spot on reasoning. Carson by contrast falls all over the place in their picks, no consensus.1 point
