  1. Not sure how all the Coronavirus cancellations will alter things but I expect this Domino to fall soon and don't be surprised if another shortly there after. Ones that we should all enjoy unless you are 1 of the 2 resident Toiletmakers

  5. Just got the cancellation call this morning. I am not surprised since my wife works at the hospital and they are really tightening the screws. On a positive note I was feeling tremendous pressure to finish the total bathroom renovation. I can now slow the pace down and maybe sleep in. I have attached a couple pics and I apologize for somewhat hijacking the thread.

  6. My wife, Ayden and myself were sitting on the bleaches watching a baseball game between my sons college team and a team from Mass on Thursday march 12th. My oldest son came in to pitch, 2. 2/3 innings of no hit baseball striking out 5 walking 0 and giving up no runs. As they were about to enter the 7th inning the coach asked if we wanted to finish the game or allow a freshman to finish it and he would be able to throw again on Saturday. My wife did not understand why they took him out and was ticked but I told her he would probably throw Saturday. My son that is graduating from college in 3 years and will begin grad school to become a doctor in June walked off the mound just like he has so many times before, but this time was different. At 11:00 pm Thursday night my wife got a text from our son that said ,"The school has called all teams back to Ohio immediately and they would be leaving Florida Friday morning." by the end of Friday classes had been postponed and all will be done online. By Saturday the campus was closed for the semester and students had until March 21st to be off campus. Somewhere in all of this his last year of baseball was cancelled. My son started playing T Ball at 3 years old and for the past 18 years I have enjoyed watching him play more than anything in this world. I have been blessed to have been able to see over 95% of his games. This year was going to be different, we were going to find a way to see every game, actually we did that. I could not have asked for a better son or could not be any more proud of him than I am. Not only is a great player but much much better person. On that Thursday afternoon he walked off the field with no fanfare, no standing ovation, nothing different from the 100's of other times except that it was the last time!! As a coach I have always told my players to enjoy every opportunity because it could be your last. I know that personally as I tore my ACL my senior year of high school and never stepped on the court in a meaningful game again. I have coached kids that have gotten hurt and not been able to return and many that after losing their final game reality hit that it was over. For my son he did not get the opportunity to know that this was it. For me that is a hard part to deal with. In the big picture it is still just a game and we knew it was ending this year but (BEING GREEDY I WANTED TO SOAK IT IN) did not expect it like this. I know he will be very successful but knowing that he has played his last game and I will never get the opportunity to be a fan of my all time favorite baseball player is very saddening. No more will I be yelling, Get ahead and stay there and the many other stupid things we Dad's say. I knew it would happen but I am not ready. Many of you have gone through this and can relate. More greed here, my wife and I won't get the opportunity to walk across the field on Senior night heads held high as they introduce our son, we won't get the opportunity to compete for any titles, we won't be blessed with watching a young man with much GOD given talent doing the things that have brought us such joy for many years. This was the year in which he finally put it all together and worked so hard in the off season to fine tune some things. His final stat line for 2020. 8 2/3 innings pitched. 0.00 ERA 11 K's 1 BB 1 hit. Today I am proud of my son and for the 18 years of memories that he has provided. On one end of this Corona Virus spectrum I fear for my youngest son and his health as he does have serious medical issues and on the other end I selfishly am upset at what this virus has taken away from us and from my oldest son in losing his last year of baseball. Thank you for letting me express my feelings

  7. And the folks in Boston are really upset. Not only does Brady announce he is leaving. It's St. Patrick's day, and all the bars are closed.

  8. A few factors I've heard has been on older aged population, lot of smokers and not that many ICU beds per 100k of population. They really are not treating older people so they can save the younger ones. Scary.

  12. The messaging has been really bad especially why the need to social distance. Case and point, when people keep saying it will be no worse than the seasonal flu. This thinking is missing the point and not necessarily the reason why medical experts are calling for self-isolation. From what I understand, the danger is not so much that it infects people, it's how quickly it spreads through and infects the population. The flu is not as big of a threat to older people or the medically compromised, but most importantly it doesn't get everybody sick all at one time. The 300,000 or so of flu cases are for the most part spread out over 8-9 months. The question you need to ask yourself, is what would happen if 250k of those 300k flu cases hit in a span 2-3 weeks? Would our healthcare system be prepared for it? This is the coronavirus threat - the speed that it spreads. Right now people are able to receive treatment and be put on ventilators, which is keeping the death toll low. What happens when they can't receive treatment? The closest regional hospital to me has 35 ICU beds. What happens if these are all filled when the infections spike 2-3 weeks from now? Where does that 36th and 37th person go? A big portion of the population will ultimately get coronavirus. The effort being made now is not necessarily for people to avoid getting infected completely - it's so that we all don't get infected at one time.

  13. But at least Montana had some modicum of success at KC...Took them to an AFC Championship game.. Unitas and Namath looked worse than Bob Avellini...

  14. There were some moves made by Bears,etc....that made it hard to watch legends in other uniforms. Was a bit young to appreciate (or not) seeing OJ in a 49ers uniform. I think the first one to me that was a true legend of his sport was watching Montana put on the Chiefs uniform. Of course Jordan after that. I know there are others but for some reason Montana always sticks out to me the most.

  17. I am over 70. With no underlying health issues. But.... Haven't left the house for days. Other than to take the trash out, get the mail, and pick up the newspaper. During that time I have washed my hands more than I can ever remember. More than in a normal two weeks. I don't think I am panicking. Just being cautious, based on stories like this. Thanks for the share.

  18. "Until then, perhaps the last word should be given to virologist Dr. Lisa Gralinski, who told The Scientist, “If you’re over fifty or sixty and you have some other health issues and if you’re unlucky enough to be exposed to this virus, it could be very bad.” While everyone else should remain vigilant and take proper precautions (e.g., washing hands and avoiding crowds) until more data comes in, from a scientific perspective the public alarm is disproportionate to the risk." https://geopoliticalfutures.com/the-most-important-coronavirus-question/

  19. Brady just announced on IG his football days will take place elsewhere...officially moving on from New England. Wow. Guess it happens to the greatest just didn't think it would happen with him. So musical chairs it is. I've said for months that Chargers make the most sense. Not changing now but seems Tampa is the front runner.

  20. You may, and probably are correct that there are cases of the virus near me. But there are NO deaths. As of this morning the US has only endured 80 deaths nationwide, and 25+ are from the nursing home in Washington state. My point was that while the reported number of cases will undoubtedly increase with increased testing, that does not automatically translate into a sudden rise in deaths. I'm upset that the media, both print and video in a large proportion automatically ASSUME that if you get the Corona virus, you're either dead, or going into ICU. I don't believe that will be the case at all. High risk people will likely require some form of intense care, but for the vast majority of Americans, we'll be no worse off than the seasonal flu. And now there is a generic drug that shows real promise for therapeutic treatment of the virus...quickly.

  21. I thought all along they were going to draft a DT or a WR with their 1st round pick. I love this trade because Buckner more than likely will be better than any player you would have gotten with the 13th pick.

  22. I’ve been a craft beer junkie for more than 10 years. Zombie Dust used to be thee beer a while back. Loaded with citra hops, when fresh it was the best you could get IMO. But due to its popularity, the millions of breweries that seemed to pop up over night started to copy its flavor profile. I can’t tell you how many breweries I’ve been in where they told me ‘this IPA was made to taste like Zombie Dust’. So, now Zombie Dust is another great beer in a sea of great beers. Three Floyds upped its production, demand went down, and now you can get ZD in grocery stores up here in NWI. Which is a great thing. The recent trend for the last year or 2 has been super juicy, hazy IPAs.....otherwise known as New England IPAs. And while you can get those in Indiana, Chicago is where to drink them. (Although I’ve had some pretty good ones from 450 in Columbus). Even been reading in beer publications that many say that NEIPAs are better in Chicago than in New England. If your in the area look for beers by More, Hop Butcher, Noon Whistle, Phase Three and others that I can’t think of right now. I have a Phase Three in my fridge right now and I swear one of those tall cans went down throat hole in under 5 minutes. At 8% sometimes you need to be careful. Haha.

  24. Let me premise this post by saying that the virus is a significant situation. However, I believe that the vast majority of people who actually contract it, will recover from it completely. Only people with OTHER underlying conditions (respiratory, COPD, compromised immune systems, etc) are at high risk. And they should take significant precautions, as should their inner circle of friends and family to protect them. But some in the media is are making this sound like an automatic death sentence. It is overblown from a "death standpoint". We lose 30-60,000 people a year to the flu. I'll wager that we don't come anywhere near that death toll with the Coronavirus. Certainly the instances of contracting the virus will go up significantly with more testing, but the rate of deaths will not ramp up at the same rate as the instances of positive tests IMO and in the opinion of the task force. Dr Birx of the task force suggested that the death rate could be far short of 1%. I support the short term (15 day) recommendations made by the task force today. Short term pain for long term gain. And the more decisions made at the local level the better. (like individual cities/counties rather than state or national mandates) Where I live in SC, we have almost no cases of the virus, and the few that we do have are far away. Why should restaurants be closed here, when there are no problems at all? Let that call be made at the local level. 25. I work for the 2nd largest egg producer in the US. I work in a microbiology lab. We operate 7 days a week producing liquid and shell egg products. Have egg layer chickens laying 3,000,000 eggs a day 7 days a week at my facility but there are so many more, even have one in Hawaii. I am responsible for producing results that allow 250,000+ lbs of retail and industrial liquid egg product a WEEK to go out the door. My employer estimates that each employee feeds egg products to over 3000 a day. I have to go to work. Except for sunday when I hit a pothole on HWY 50 and bent a wheel so bad it wouldn't hold air. But I have crappy anti theft lugnut and my special socket broke. Moral of the story, have normal adult lugnuts.

  33. While we continue in uncharted territory. The resourcefulness and ingenuity of Americans never ceases to amaze. Denver has banned all in door seating in their restaurants. There is one Denver restaurant that have never had delivery. And they only have on street parking. So... starting today. They will be placing tables on the sidewalk in the front of their restaurant. And packaging food items from their menu, with a price marked on the packages. For a grab and go. Placing plastic buckets on the ends of the tables. Trusting people to be on their honor to pay, rather than actually grabbing and going, without paying.

  34. All things are possible now. Still have 4-5 QB's out there (Brady, Bridgewater, Dalton, Foles...) but my guess is until Brady announces we won't know where a few of those are heading. I'm still in shock the Bears big splash yesterday was signing Jimmy Graham.

  35. NP. All those breweries I mentioned don’t distribute to Indiana though - just locally. That said, you should be able to find them at a Binnys in Illinois. And in Indiana, 450s distribution is all messed up - I haven’t seen one of their beers in a store up here in a year. There are some other mass produced Hazy IPAs from Goose, Sierra Nevada, Revolution, Sam Adams, etc. in stores, and while many are good, they’re not quite like the ones I mentioned above.

  42. As I told you all previously in this thread. My wife swims daily at our local athletic club. She was there this morning. However, she just got an e-mail from the club.... that they are closing down.... and have not decided when they will be opening back up again. Seeing as how my wife is in her early 70's and has underlying health issues, and knowing how much see loves swimming every weekday.... I am feeling good to know that the club is closed. Only hope that we can get our pre-paid annual membership fee, which is considerable, back for the time the club is closed.

And asked me if I had any ideas who he should designate as another mod at the time. I told him... we needed some young blood. And suggested you. And Mr. Decker made you a mod. Then.... when Mr. Decker left the site, with no notice... it was you and me that worked to keep it alive. Till CC stepped in. And started HSN 0.1 My how time has flown by. But if they are going to shut everything down and force people out of work I'm all for helping them through. My wife and I are lucky to have a good support system but alot are not so lucky. But the douchebags(all 535 of them)in congress will pork up any type of plan and it will get tossed around for weeks.
