  1. My son and I worked on project for his new apartment. This was the blind leading the blind. We were pleased with the results far from perfect but 1st attempt at doing any furniture. We tool an old trunk and converted it into a coffee table. Total cost about 20 and an end table with 15 or less in it.

  2. We have had an active study on it as prophylaxis in our department, one of my research assistants is working on it part time. Too early to tell obviously.

  6. July 22nd, 1923. Walter Johnson became the first pitcher in MLB to strike out 3,000 batters; his career record of 3,508 strikeouts stood until 1983.

  10. Ooof. Got a brisket soaked in brown sugar, butter, beer and rubbed in black peppercorn and pink sea salt in the smoker. I’m hoping it’s drop-kick your grandma good but this is a new style for me with the sugar. Been in the smoker at 250 since 7am. Applewood chips was the choice this time. I did a chuck roast in the smoker a couple weeks back and it was basically borderline jerky (yikes!!) when I pulled it out. It was in there 6 hours at 275. I need serious help with a chuck roast. The smoked baked beans was bangin’ though and made up for it.

  14. Yeah I’ve had zoom hearings, they’re weird enough, just try admitting exhibits, but the live fed ct hearing with everyone in masks was genuinely surreal

  16. Thanks, Scott. That was what I thought you meant and I tend to agree. Homeruns and hundred mph relievers are what the game has and continues to evolve into these days. There used to be guys like Spahn, but there were more guys who had three, four, five good years and were done. And that eventually, along with baseball becoming a BIG business with tv contracts, led to franchises/owners putting greater value on some players. But you know all this already. 😊. Take care...stay safe...and enjoy your grandkid.

  17. Well last night on MLB network they were talking the last time the season was 60 games long. It was 1889 and on one of the teams had a pitcher who pitched 57 of those games and all were complete games.

  20. I have heard rumors of Crester involved in some pretty "revealing" Crisco naked Twister games. But I thought Kev took the pictures. So they apparently fell into Blue's greedy paws?

  25. agree 100%. Zion and Patrick Beverley both are most recent to leave the bubble due to a "family issue". So far it's going well, fingers crossed it stays this way

  27. That's the thing. She prefers live for a variety of reasons. Running out of continuances at this point. Had one Hendricks County judge last week say if you guys can't figure out your phones.....don't bring it to the court. Little did he know his technology was causing the delay. Total chaos right now. Good luck with things!

  30. If they stick to the plan and stay in the bubble they should be fine...but it just takes a couple guys stepping outside and exposing the whole bunch and it could spread quickly. Shouldn’t be hard at first but as this moves along I think it will get more difficult...someone will screw it up.

  31. Well, hopefully the vaccine that works is one they have already started to produce. I think Moderna has already started producing 300 million doses so we can avoid this exact situation. But if the government controls the rollout because we don't have enough doses, then the elderly and those with underlying health issues should get it. ...And of course the rich, NBA basketball players, @bluegrassIU’s third nipple, and politicians because they are more important than us. 🤔 We actually better hope that China doesn't develop the only working vaccine. I have a feeling we'll be pretty low on their list of who to roll it out to.

  32. Side note. Had a federal court hearing today, in person, everyone wearing masks. Truly surreal. And lots of "please talk directly into the microphone" lol.

  33. I get that people worry about the side effects. but I look at it this way. Imagine for a second that the vaccine was available in February and somehow the entire U.S. population was vaccinated at that moment. The vaccine itself subsequently kills 100,000 people because of some unforeseen side effects.. Considering 140,000 people have already died from the disease, the vaccine would still have been a 'success', despite the toll it had. Anything that results in fewer people dying is a good thing. Correct?

  34. I think a lot will depend on the effectiveness of the vaccine. Will it be like the polio vaccine, or will it be like the flu shot? I am a little leery about the rushed science happening to try to get the vaccine, so I'll probably wait a little while.

  35. Put me down as one saying no. Not at least until proven. So many different vaccines being tested out there now. Would want one that is proven for sure.

  39. Pretty much my feelings about pro sports (and amateur to a lesser extent). While we love watching our favorite teams/games, the bottom line is that they are playing a game. A GAME. Remember when RMK used to make fun of reporters saying we all learned to write in grade school but most of us went on to more important things? Same applies to athletes. Grossly overpaid (or lavished with attention and praise) due to their ability to play a game - and half of that ability is genetic roulette. I appreciate their effort and dedication to the game, but much of that effort is for personal gain and improvement which is good, but they aren't Gods or necessarily better people just because of their achievements and abilities. I enjoy watching (some of them), but I stopped viewing them as hero's a number of years ago. I don't know if I even have as much as a passing interest in the NBA anymore, perhaps my only interest is in the careers of ex-IU players. I suspect my feelings about the NFL are soon to be the same.

  40. Hard to get too excited about any of it. The attitudes and bickering back and forth with millionaires and billionaires when most Americans are suffering through every day just trying to make a living all the while still working in the midst of all the uncertainty and taking risks for their families to pay the bills just is a turn off. Probably why I love college basketball so much. Mostly still just kids living a dream loving the game. The passion I once saw in the NBA seems to mostly mostly have died out years ago. Heck these guys are mostly so out of touch with the real world. Don’t get me wrong the greats of the past lived a different life then the rest of us but it just seems they weren’t so out of touch and were still amongst the community...now even the bench guys are making so much money they put those that came before to shame. I’ll wait for the amateurism to tip it off to go back. Same for the NFL too.

  44. Just like in hoops. We expect or maybe understand why we get elite level talent from our state or regional states...but once you start poaching from Southern California that's a different deal.

  45. So I'll put this out there if anyone would like to try the onions I made above...my family demands them when I make brats... Ingredients 3 medium white onions 1 cup red wine vinegar 1/2 cup sugar 3 tblsp either mustard or dry mustard Cayanne pepper to taste (I usually go pretty liberal...tblsp or so) I teaspn salt I cut the onions in rings, but I've also chopped them in a food processor. Either way works, but the rings seem to saute better. Saute them with a tblsp of oil over low heat until they're soft. Heat the red wine vinegar in a small sauce pan until just before it simmers. Add the dry ingredients and stir til dissolved. Pour the vinegar mixture over the onions in a bowl or jar and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. The longer they sit, the better they seem to taste, and they keep for quite a while. Enjoy 🙂
