  1. The 2021 class currently sits at #58 nationally and 11th in the B1G on 247sports after today's commitments from Maurice Freeman and Joshua Sales. The current rankings of the class aren't particularly great, BUT it's a class with less commits than many of the teams ahead of it. This class has been projected to be small in quantity from the get-go - but the quality of prospects is the highest it's ever been for Indiana in the modern recruiting era. Since 247sports began their rankings nearly 2 decades ago, Indiana has never had a higher average rating of recruits in a class than t

  2. Here is a question and I’m sure it’s been covered in a almost thr 200 pages but why are we not wanting to send our kids (especially say 12 and under back to school?) All the science and evidence I’ve seen universally say such children are at such a minuscule risk or getting or even more importantly spreading the virus. The risk of not having these kids in school where so many get their nutritional health, mental health, and even where most cases of abuse are seen seems to way out weigh the risks. I get some may need to be kept home for medical reasons or parents decision and some teachers m

  3. I can’t beleive I took the time to do this, but comparing the last 2 decades, both IU and UI have one Final Four appearance/Title game appearance. UI has 4 Big Ten Titles to IU’s 3, but IU has two in the last decade and UI has zero in the last 15 years. As far as putting players in the NBA, IU has a huge advantage. IU currently has 9 NBA players to UI’s 2 and also leads over the 2 decade period. Not sure what all of that means? Both programs have had some highs over the last two decades, but I’d say both have been plaqued by inconsistency and instability, and neither program has be

  5. I went to a watering hole yesterday on Indy's Northside to see some people I haven't seen since March shutdown. I was a little nervous but decided to give it a go. Masked up, sanitizer in pocket, sat outside with distance, etc....and still to my amazement people felt like it was some sort of chore just to put a mask on each time they went inside to get a beer or use restroom. What was more amazing is 7 of these people all said they know they had it in March/April but never got tested. Said symptoms went away after a few days so they all thought no big deal. The reason I bring this up is

  6. It is really sad to teacher's unions saying defunding the police is a prerequisite for returning. That has nothing to do with the kids or school. Union sure not looking out for the kids, IMO.

  7. I’m not sure how many true “scientists” we have out there anymore. I’ve seen a lot of politically driven science in the past 20 years (and probably earlier) where they choose to ignore facts and the science when it doesn’t follow the narrative or the desired outcome. It didnt just start with Covid...seen it with so many things for years but I don’t want to derail a thread. To me it’s so unethical when people let their ideology or hypothesis drive the study or outcome instead of letting the evidence decide it. Science is threatening to become just like “journalism” in this country because it’s

  8. Now that we got Freeman and Sales, if we could somehow pull in Daniels, I wouldn't care if the rest of the class was filled with team managers and ball boys. Daniels would be an incredible cherry on top.

  10. Unnecessary fear-inspiring headline 20,000 more Americans could die from Covid-19 in the next 21 days, CDC ensemble forecast shows https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/02/health/us-coronavirus-sunday/index.html Considering the average daily deaths over the last 7 days has been over 1,100, I wonder if the reporter realizes that the numbers in her headline would actually be an improvement. It's bad, I get it. But, I really wish the media would inform us and stop trying to scare us.

  14. Okay. Let’s see. Brown can only be compared to short, small school, Indiana public high school kids, per your parameters My original point, and what I am sticking to, is that if Brown was good enough, he would have attracted higher level offers. He must not be, as they haven’t materialized

  16. Yeah kind of what I’m saying...instead of resisting so much these are things they should be working with state and federal govt to make sure is in place so when they return it will be safe...instead of spending all the time fighting to stop it we should be doing everything we can to work together to make it happen.

  23. I've got some good and bad news on my garden. Bad news I noticed one of my tomatoes had some leaves eaten off and found 5 tomato worms on it! Luckily the plant is pretty big, so it should be alright, but they did do some damage. Good news I might have a brandywine tomato to pick today. I've almost avoided looking at it so I won't pick it early, but it is real close!

  24. Joining the bro crush. True story. One day in high school I’m just standing there in class and this girl who likes to rib me says, there was this guy on Saturday Night Live last night, he was weird, reminded me of you cause you’re so weird. I said oh yeah, who? She says George Harrison. I broke into a huge smile and said Hell Yeah! He was always my favorite Beatle. Lennon second. I remember where I was the days I heard both had died, Lennon shot and George from cancer. Miss those guys.

  25. So I moved to Florida recently. Man I tell you Florida football is like Indiana basketball...not only that a ton of really good coaches down here and ex college nfl guys that coach and run camps etc. One thing is for sure...it’s hilarious the difference watching Friday hs highlights on the news from Indiana/Kentucky where I did live and Florida...like every kid is a track star and linemen look like the size of an SUV.

  28. The top notch athletes that we are collecting jumps out overall, but also how we have stepped up in-state at the high end. I have to admit I have lost track of who all we are still in on. Obviously Daniels would be great. You can never have enough good corners. We have Larry Smith who has been a playmaker. Ball skills is often a thing where you have it or you don't. He's got it in spades. I know he was listed as a free safety but maybe he's a corner because his build seems more like a corner unless he bulks up a lot. I wonder about the two RB's. McKinley you had an open door after to wear the Candy Stripes after you committed to Archie at Dayton. Sorry... IMHO... you don't get a second chance. Regardless of your game.

  30. I know. I was just being flippant. I just find it very disrespectful they would make a non workplace related demand like, especially one that unrealistic. Not only will the kids suffer but what will the parents who both work jobs to get by do? How many parents are even capable or willing to help their kids learn? And if they would happen to successfully defund the police guess what one of the first things to disappear will be, the school resource officers. Of the few teachers I know, they want to go back to school, and see paid leave offered to older teachers who don't feel safe.

  31. You know you will never get that money back...and we all know our taxes are going to sky rocket to offset business taxes because we closed them all. Again I just wondering if I’m the only one that is at a loss because of all this because even the local news is pressuring to keep schools closed by only stating the teachers union side and not all the other issues that these children face. I am all for paying to keep the teachers safe with proper masks/plastic shields for their desks and extra cleaning and maybe uv light sterilization or things of that sort but this we are sentencing people to de

  32. Just sayin’ but Aminu Mohammed, IU’s 1A or 1B 2021 recruit, plays 1A in Missouri, which is even less competitive than IN 1A. The difference is he played up a year at a nationally recognized AAU program and stood out against nationally ranked competition. In this day and age, talent finds a way to stand out. And Jordy played a tough 4A schedule with a lot of exposure to the best HS competition in the state (4A metro / burbs e.g. NC, Pike, LN, LC, Carmel, Warren, etc.). People here underrate how tough that competition is.

  36. Camden Yards is my absolute favorite. I love that park. PNC Park is gorgeous. I felt the corridors were a bit narrow (not like old Yankee stadium narrow) but for my tastes narrow. Coors Field is a great place to see a game. I also enjoyed Miller Park (best pre-game atmosphere for a random mid-season game I've been to...and the cheese curds in the park were delish!). Target Field is also very cozy...felt smaller/intimate than other MLB parks I've been to. How could I forget Minute Maid Park. That's a beautiful stadium too. The ease of access in and around Houston made for a great

  37. Don’t see how these guys coming back is going to reflect poorly on these guys. Don’t think anybody thought Ayo was a for sure 2 and done. And no way people thought Kofi was leaving. Plus with the pandemic calling into question whether there will even be a full season next year it hardly is going to be a knock on him

  39. We have the potential to have the talent to finish top 3, but as I mentioned a few times it’s going to take so,e key returners in Phinisee, Hunter, Franklin and Race not only making a leap, and they have the talent to do it, but also staying healthy. If those guys develop and stay healthy, that’s a solid, solid core to have around two 5*’s. How many Big Ten teams have two 5*’s on their roster?

  43. Good player and very good addition to a really nice class. Our future looks to be building nicely off of an 8 win season. It’s like when Coach Harbaugh complimented us by saying they “felt it” after they played us. Looks like more of that is coming from this program. Coach Allen continues to execute on his outstanding vision for this program.

  44. And more versatility includes what should be a more versatile offense. I’m not sure smith was our best defender - best at guarding forwards, but as you point out (I think correctly) he was not a strong off-ball defender. Green was better on guards generally and off ball. Rob, when healthy, is a good defender. But again, without meaning to denigrate what Smith brought, versatility on offense was not one of his contributions. He did not develop an outside or a mid-range game. He did not create off the dribble. Teams could sag. I don’t know if we’ll be better offensively, but I do think we

  45. I’m old to enough to have watched the Celtics-Lakers in the mid-to-late 80’, but probably wasn’t old enough to recognize the officiating as blatantly biased, so my frustration with this begins with Jordan. It really comes down to stars get calls. In the 80’s the Celtics and Lakers had the main stars. In the 90’s Jordan got the treatment, etc. Now LeBron, Harden, Giannis, etc. get the calls.
