  1. I planted 2 trees last year. Seeing as they survived, I widened the bed around them from 2 feet in diameter to around 4 ft. . Also some veggie pics. Have 2 pumpkins and 2 watermelons. Only 1 green pepper.

  2. My only hope is these folks leaving their cities don't go and eff up our peaceful country life. There's a reason many of us chose not to live in cities, because well they're cities.

  4. @Reacher It's dark out now but I will take a pick soon. I toss all my fall garbage, pumpkins, pots, whatever, in the garden every year. Had a squash plant start growing back in March. Decided to let it do its thing, it's going nuts! Its growing up the back of my house and has taken over half my back yard. I probably have 25 pumpkin/gourd hybrids growing right now plus blooms all over the place.

  13. The several years prior to 2020, despite being based in Louisville I worked approximately 25% of my time in downtown Chicago. Have not been to Chicago since February, or for that matter, I've not been in the office in Louisville since March. When things settle down, I envision a world where I only go into the office in Louisville when necessary, and my trips to Chicago may be limited to once or twice per year. Both cities have been ravaged, not only because of Covid, but because of social unrest. The amount if crime in Louisville right now is unprecedented. It literally went from being one of the safest cities in the U.S. to one of the most dangerous, seemingly overnight.

  15. That's one of the things I do miss...the commute... Me, a 30 oz Yeti full of Peet's Cafe Domingo, in that sneaky Maxima rolling down 59 with the trucks (no kidding, I am very much in the minority driving a car on Texas freeways) with "Let it Bleed" blaring was how I got ready for my day...Heaven... Now it's just me and the coffee...☹️ Oh, and my wife coming mid-morning into my home office and saying, "oh for God's sake calm down."

  16. I can only give a couple examples. Downtown Indy will probably snap back quicker than most large cities because of convention business and honestly....we've spent decades to get this city where it's at. Right now though you have panhandlers, addicts, homeless all walking around. I don't go downtown Indy anymore until this nonsense ends. Regarding a city like Chicago. Very good friend from IU is commercial real estate broker for one of the big boys. He's expecting by end of the year at least 1/3 of jobs (at his employer) lost because so many businesses are either forcing their way out of leases, not paying, cancelling altogether,etc....I haven't lived there in decades but will always have a love for Chicago. I'm very nervous what's ahead for them.

  17. I don't think it is just NYC...I believe most large cities will have a large exodus of people fleeing to the suburbs/country. Especially as more businesses realize they can cut costs by having more employees work remotely. Online, online, online...many retail businesses are going to have to figure out how to transition from brick and mortar to online or will risk bankruptcy. More grocery stores will offer delivery services to meet customers needs. Restaurants will continue to struggle as more people cook from home or depend on pickup/delivery options. More schools and colleges/universities will offer online courses. Handshakes could be a thing of the past.

  18. Absolutely fair - though some coaches get more from less. Pop, Stevens et al are exceptional for example. Look at the Raps after losing Kawhi. Yes those coaches have really good players but if you put other coaches with the Spurs or Raptors chances are their records and team play would be different

  19. I think a lot more people will be working remotely for years to come. I also think NYC is dead.

  20. What has been interesting to me is the massive realignment caused / accelerated by Covid. I think we are still in the very early stages. Families and businesses have totally changed their behaviors. I have commented before on the exodus from cities. https://nypost.com/2020/08/11/new-yorkers-flee-nyc-in-droves/. People are saving more, living more conservatively. Backyard pools and RVs are more popular. Businesses are being reworked with employees working virtually and moving supply lines closer. Methods of teaching are being reworked. Some trends, like online shopping, are just being accelerated. Retail bankruptcies will continue. Add to that many restaurants. Vaccine process went from 5 years to 6 months. The world is changing. The pace of change has accelerated. Drive in movies have went from nearly extinct to in demand once again. What changes have you noticed and which are here to stay?

  21. Won’t be a popular opinion but I’m not as high on Nate as others — I think he’s done a pretty good job, think he’s a pretty good coach, but also think his current success is largely by who Pritchard got him on the team. Pritchard deserves a ton of credit, he is really good and revamped quickly a team I thought would fall apart. His moves were really well thought out. Nate is hard headed, and fairly predictable. Again I think he’s overall pretty good, but think it’s more who he has to play than how well he coaches.

  22. That might start telling us something about Vic. 🤷‍♂️ and maybe not in a good way. Vic needs to get back to being Vic. When winning and his teammates are his priorities. It certainly hasn't seemed like, from a fans perspective, that the team has been at the top of Vics priority list recently. I hope I am 100% wrong. Nate has been absolutely awesome.

  23. I think he has done a great job.I have heard a few people say Vic is not in the keep Nate camp. If true does that tell us something about Vics future with the Pacers. All hearsay but could be something. Last week the big talk of the bubble was that Nate was squarely on the hot seat

  25. I think Redick is being undervalued here. Grayson Allen would be lucky to have Redick’s career. While he took longer than normal to develop, especially for a 4-year college guy, Redick has been a starter, 15+ ppg guy, a plus defender and a 40%+ 3pt shooter for 8 or so years.

  27. Trae Young averaged 29/9 as a 21 year old in his second season. Obviously he has to continue to improve and grow, but I don't think it's outlandish to compare him favorably to other offensive focused players like Curry or Harden in their second year.

  28. Doncic. He's better than Young on both ends IMO. I'm not sold on Young yet, but he's certainly done better than I expected him too. ^This is impressive depth after only less than 2 seasons. Doncic and Young were already All-Stars so 7 is definitely doable (Ayton, Bagley, JJJ, SGA, Porter would get it done). Have to go back to 2011 for that many from a class

  29. I'm curious what draft recently you'd put above it? I think you've got at least 7 future All-Stars in the lottery plus plus some of the best depth of quality players from late first round and second picks I can remember. I'm not saying it's like '03 good, certainly at the top, but it's a really good class Just from outside the lottery, here is an incomplete list of guys already contributing in major ways: DiVencenzo Lonnie Walker Huerter Grayson Allen Aaron Holiday Shamet Brunson Devonte Graham Gary Trent Mitchell Robinson Bruce Brown Shake Milton

  30. The Hawks of course traded the Doncic pick to Dallas, they got Trae Young. Would you rather have Young or Doncic? Doncic, hands down, imo, but Young of course is a very good offensive player. Gilgeous-Alexander (went 11) is outstanding. Porter fell to 14 due to his health issues, but he's looking scary good right now. Landry Shamet fell at 26. I wouldn't put this up with the top drafts, outside Luca, but it's deep on talent and underrated guys. Ayton has the ability to dominate down the road if he stays healthy and out of trouble. I don't know yet on Young.

  31. First time growing a watermelon plant and it's about to payoff. Have 7 growing at different stages and a couple dozen blooms. If I could get 7-10 I will be satisfied.
