  1. Thats why I have such a hard time with the overly PC society we live in. In the heat of the moment things get said but had Luka said a racist slur his head would be demanded on a silver platter. Most of us want equality and equal justice yet the double standard exist on who says what. In today's world a straight Christian white male has the weakest voice and the most to lose when the open their big mouth.

  2. Not sure if anybody ever listens, but I always like to share when Donald McNeil is on The Daily. He speaks about some of the things we've discussed on here: - He speculates that the flu season will be very mild because of all the restrictions in effect due to COVID: washing hands, social distancing, travel restrictions, etc. Cases in the southern hemisphere (where it's flu season) are way down. Australia is reporting 95% less flu cases. So, good news....he still recommends getting a flu shot to be safe though. - He and many immunologists are not worried about the guy from Hong Kong who was re-infected with COVID. Basically, the first time his symptoms were very mild. The milderer the infection the less antibodies that are created. When he had it the second time he was asymptomatic, which most likely means he only had enough antibodies to decrease the severity of the illness, but not completely make him immune. These 2 factors: mild first case and even milder second case are a good sign and are typical of antibody behavior in other illnesses. There will be outliers who get re-infected, we should really only be worried if the symptoms of a re-infected person are more severe the second time. (at least that's how I understood it) - He said immunologists, for the most part, believe immunity will last a year or more. Again, this is an educated guess based off of how long immunities last in other viruses that closely resemble COVID. - From what immunologists can gather, COVID mutates at a third of the rate that the seasonal flu does. If this holds true, it may mean we need to vaccinate every three years, but again, (I sound like a broken record) it all depends on the vaccines that are developed, and how long immunities last. - He also speaks about vaccines in China and Russia. Both are by passing the third and most important phase which Western scientists think is crazy. He explains why bypassing or rushing a third phase is extremely dangerous. Worst case scenario, the vaccine increases the severity of the symptoms for those who get infected....it's not something you want to play around with. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/25/podcasts/the-daily/coronavirus-plasma-reinfection.html

  3. Let's not talk about race relations and how oppressed straight-white Christian males are in this thread, please.

  4. Since this particular topic gets a lot of discussion and he has been talked about in this thread.I wanted to let everyone know that @hoosiertildeathposted earlier today on the main board. Glad to hear that he is doing well.

  5. To be clear, I am 100% for all people to be treated fairly and equally. I empathize with difficulties African Americans have faced and continue to face. But, I am very glad he owned it and apologized. Race should not be uttered in a derogatory way in any direction. What he may not have realized—and hopefully does now—is it diminishes the own African American cause by ripping on someone else’s race. I feel similarly about the argument that African Americans own the N word now and are free to use it. Or that race baiting is not a two way street such that a black can say something about a white and a white can’t say anything about a black (the years of oppression being the difference). Again, I don’t buy it at all for many reasons. It diminishes your own cause. Beyond that, it’s not like the world is full of rocket scientists or Rhodes scholars. The average person can’t comprehend some philosophical basis distinguishing one race’s circumstance over another’s. The practical effect is that it exacerbates racial tensions. It boomerangs on the African American. So, why make it more of a challenge to improve race relations? Race should not be a basis of distinction or a reason for division in a society working to be free and equal as stated in the constitution of our great country. I would imagine that Martin Luther King, Jr. would agree with my take. He wanted to take the high road and positively move toward change. To me, that’s the best way to getting to your goal.

  8. I’m not surprised they haven’t offered yet. They waited until during the junior year to offer for Phinisee, Leal, and Galloway. I’d expect one to come in the next few months.

  27. I'm rolling with him in my pool this week. I know I should start DJ but this feels like the perfect DJ trap week. He knows he's good to go for East Lake (where I plan to take him) and might have a let down. Which of course DJ wins by 5 the way my pool has been going this year.

  32. All day long. Just looking at things from the macro. Love me some Vic....but GM has a different hat. Weighing the percentages vs return on possibly trading Vic next season is starting to be in the 51/49 category for me. Again...love Victor but I'm not sure he's a max guy in a market that can't make mistakes on max guys.

  33. Agree. I love Oladipo, no question, but he’s not a #1 on a championship contending team. Might not even be a #2. If he’s you’re #3 then you’re a legit championship team. As a #2 he needs to be with a LeBron, Giannis, etc. level player. There’s nothing at all wrong with that and it’s not a slight on Oladipo, but if you’re the Pacers you need to decide how much to commit to him? If I was Indiana, I would try to figure out how to have a full season with a healthy Oladipo and a Sabonis along with Brogdon before making any decisions. You have to see how those three work together healthy. Though I’d definitely see where the market sits for Turner and what I could turn him into.

  35. Pacers down 82-73 with around 7 minutes to go. The Heat bench had outscored nthe Pacers 31-3.; The bench in the regular season was a big strength but had been bad since the restart.

  37. I think the first year ad Pacers was more an anomaly than what you should expect. Last year even before the injury he was not playing great. I like VO but he seemed to changed after his first year.

  38. To keep my consistent and objective approach I'll say this. Love Victor with all my IU heart. He's not a max guy though and I won't be surprised if Pritchard moves him this season if he doesn't take a reasonable extension. I want Vic in Indy. Always have always will but some guys need to find their place. He's a very good player. Occasionally great....but not a top 20 guy year in and year out.

  39. Nothing eptimize the Pacers offense than this possession than the were starting the weave a Brogdon gave the ball off to VO. Instead of keeping the weave going VO dribble out to all.ost mid court and dribbled the sit clock and and settled for a long 3.

  40. Media being unbiased should not be political. What Jay Williams said is 100% correct. Idk how telling someone to stop flopping is being a douche bag though. Either way, its never the wrong time to do the right thing and Mr Harrell proved that. Good on him.

  41. I'm not poking you or anyone that's a PG apologist. I sat court side watching this guy for years. It's playoff Paul. Just to make sure though. In 65 playoff games PG shot over 50% 22 times during his tenure here in Indy. Not sure where you come from or where you watch hoops....but to me 1/3 is 1/3. Not worth the hype. Good player. Never will be great.

  42. Though, imo, missing Kyrie not necessarily a bad thing .... 😁

  43. Harrell actually is a good guy. Without the political BS, everyone in the league knows who he is, and he’s not as was portrayed, at all. People get pissed off (and Doncic was frankly being a douche bag), and yeah, he did the right thing in apologizing.
    1 point
  44. This gets old, just sayin. Everyone here gets a thrill poking me lol. If you’re serious, you’re just wrong i think PG must be hiding an injury. He is every year one of the highest and most efficient playoff scorers. He usually raises his scoring in the playoffs. Every year. He’s shooting horribly after the first playoff game. Seriously bad. Has to be something else going on, he’s never shot this poorly before in three straight games let alone the playoffs. But Leaving all that aside, Doncic is on the level of the next Bird. He’s a future HOF’er for sure

  45. Why do people stand side by side on escalators, or insist on just standing there, all the way down? When I was in DC, if you sat your lazy ass in the middle of an escalator (the metro), you got the repeated “stand to the right” from everyone. I miss DC

  46. Which is how it should be done...and honestly he doesn’t need to do anything more. It’s between him and Luca and if they make it good that is good enough for me. Takes a real man to apologize in person and not these fake press releases. Obviously if it kept continuing or was a habit then I can see people coming in to address it with him.

  47. Man, I saw him twice. Once at Farm Aid and another solo show. The funny ting about Farm Aid was I was in high school and I was so disappointed. Beck came out and decided to play old country covers in his ‘2 turntables and a microphone’ days. After being let down by that, Neil Young spent half of his set rambling on about farms, but because of the acoustics you couldn’t really hear what he was saying. In between each song he’d annoyingly whale on his harmonica. The solo show was great though.
