  1. I have been interested in Covid from the beginning. I'm relatively healthy and, while now in my 50s, am not terribly worried about getting it myself. I have the flexibility to work from home. I wear the masks primarily because it is required in any of the places I go. I'm not going to be a rebel and not wear one. If it helps me, great. If others feel more comfortable or protected, great. I post info that I come across that I find interesting. Sometimes on the economic side as I come across that regularly. Other times pieces that I don't think others are likely to have seen and therefore might find valuable. I was going to post notice of the Pfizer vaccine but someone beat me to it. I find value in some of the studies out there that challenge the conventional wisdom. That is one way to learn. I do believe people should be responsible for themselves. Yes, there are stupid people out there that send their kids to school with the virus. I get it. I don't think state wide lockdowns that destroy lives and businesses are the answer, though. I think that the more people are educated, the better decisions they can make for themselves- and others. There is much to be learned about this. My father is 80+ in a high risk group. He should be taking precautions. A 8 year old going to school and 26 yr old athlete don't seem to have nearly that risk. I don't get the need to punish them. Or a business owner that is taking all reasonable precautions. I have asked repeatedly today whether Covid is transmitted via aerosols. I believe it is. So does Time magazine- https://time.com/5883081/covid-19-transmitted-aerosols/. If this is truly the case, it can travel 100 feet and get in through and around masks. This passes the common sense test to me as many people that get Covid say they do wear masks. The recent Marine and Danish studies showed people can get it while wearing a mask. How? Rather than saying masks are bad, I'd argue they are possibly of limited value and we should concentrate our efforts in other areas. Have people take vitamin D, invest in far-uvc light and other remedies to see if they help. People like to pretend that the WHO, CDC, Fauci and all these experts never said that masks were of limited help. They did and there are studies that support that. What changed? Where are the studies that prove non N95 masks stop covid? Other viruses? Aerosols?

  3. Romeo may well be a bust. I hope not, but I wouldn't be upset if the Celtics gave up on him and he came home to the Pacers and blossomed there instead (no offense intended, @BGleas).

  4. This is where I'm at as well. I completely understand and appreciate the injuries. Heck, I've used them in defense of the team Langford's year at IU. But again, we're going on 2 years of bad shooting. It's not like shooting where you can see he's close or the form is there but there's one thing wrong. His shot looks completely broke and his confidence is in the gutter. I watched him last year and his misses were bad and his makes from the perimeter typically caught a lot of rim before going in. Nothing is pure at all. He's going to have to completely rebuild his jump shot. He can certainly do it, but IMO this isn't just a matter of getting healthy. The shot is broken and his confidence is completely gone.

  5. I don't think it's equally likely that he just needs to be healthy to become a good NBA shooter and scorer. There are tons of guys who don't have issues that can't make that translation from being a great high school shooter and scorer to the NBA, let alone a guy with two years of injuries. I think everyone on this board wants to see Romeo succeed, but at this point I think the most reasonable approach is to say he needs to prove he is good at shooting rather than give him the benefit of the doubt he can do it when he is healthy.

  6. This is the part that sounds a lot like, "just let us tell you the truth, all that other stuff if what we don't want you to kno... I mean it's fake". The problem is trust of information without bias, and that was lost, totally irrefutably lost, long long ago.

  7. Long guitar intro here by Nancy Wilson on Crazy on You. If you want to skip to like 1:45, it’s where she settles in to the intro. Then at about 2:15, she crouches down and just goes off on the main riff. Love this. Also, all this Tom Petty talk made me break out Damn the Torpedoes for a listen.

  8. He won't have to. I'd expect him to sign a deal similar to the Al Horford deal last year but maybe slightly less and the Pacers can match that salary with players they have to make the trade work.

  10. Absolutely love the hell out of Tom Petty. If you didnt know Tom took guitar lessons from Don Felder of Eagles fame. My favorite albums are Damn the Torpedoes and Wildflowers. But every thing that man touched was gold.

  12. So, Ruthie the foster kitten went to her furever home about two weeks ago. She really captured our heart in the five days she was with us and it felt good to help get a kitten placed into a home. So, we are fostering two 16-week old kittens currently. They are INSANE and so much fun. They can go from being a purr machine in your lap to attacking each other in an instant. We’ve had them since Saturday and not sure how long they will be here. Otis the cat is not amused by their hijinks. Chloe the dachshund loves them and one of the kittens just adores her. That’s been sweet to see.

  17. Just yesterday at the restaurant they were playing I’m a Man. Also, true story at least according to my neighbor. The girl I bought my house from was friends with the Allman Brothers and whenever they were in the area they would park their 3 buses in the yard. That is until one night she came outside yelling and then fired off a few rounds from her pistol. Soon after the buses left and they never came back?

  22. I think it is to try and curb the partying crowd that would be out during that time. I spoke with someone a few weeks ago that said that the sit down and have dinner at a bar with family social distancing is done by 900. Its that late group that stops social distancing and its more of like normal times where as the early evening hours they can rally enforce social distancing. I think it make sense.

  24. While looking for "I'm a Man", I ran across this version. I saw these guys in the Old Fieldhouse (dirt floor, SRO) as CTA. When Terry Kath was alive and Robert Lamb had testosterone ... the band was still relevant. Another group that was just great early on ... Duane A and Dickie B were just monstesr playing on the same stage. Go Hoosiers!

  25. He was literally one of the best players ever before his injuries. Hill probably would’ve been on the level of the all time greats but for those awful derailing injuries, but he still managed to be a really good player

  27. Just love the way T Petty interacts with the audience in Breakdown (posted above). He and Heartbreakers always put on a great show. had a real rapport with the band members, as well. Arguably, the last time I saw them was the best. Great, tight band, that got better, the longer they played together. Go Hoosiers!

  29. I saw him in person at the state finals his sophomore year and his shot looked smooth. I remember that same year he went to the semi state game when they at Richmond. He said he couldn't believe how smooth and effortlessly he made scoring looked.

  31. Well, here's an interesting factoid -- Tom Crean is now one of just 2 coaches -- the other being Teflon Cal -- in the Modern Draft Era (that's since 1996) to produce a top 5 draft pick at 3 different schools. Crean wasn't the right coach long-term for IU, at least to most, because he couldn't maintain class balance, his recruiting went South towards the end of his tenure at IU, and he couldn't build consistently good defensive teams -- though he often had a top-ranked offense. But there really isn't any disputing that he identified and developed top-flight NBA players.

  33. People must be living in way different places than me. Around me, restaurants are supposed to be carry out only, and 6 out of the 7 in the towns that make up my school district are still open for in person eating. Going into any of the gas stations, you'll be lucky to see anybody else wearing a mask. I'm in a rural area so I get that people might not be as strict about things as in cities, but in public I don't even see 25% of people wearing masks. This idea that everyone is wearing masks isn't even close. Our county is getting close to a 20% positivity rate, and the county health department can't keep up with contact tracing because we're having so many cases. Still very few people wearing masks.

  34. Wow. Reread what you wrote. No need to see both sides. Guess there is no reason for free speech or science anymore. People are wearing masks, social distancing and avoiding restaurants (they are all closed around me). Spread is still increasing. How is that possible? Could it be that the virus travels through aerosols as the Dr below points out and that masks are generally ineffective in slowing the spread? Calm down, take a deep breath and actually look and think about, what people are saying instead of writing them off for whatever reason. Is this guy also a quack? “He received his general medical degrees from Cambridge University in the UK (M.A., M.B., B. Chir.) where he was a scholar at Corpus Christi College. Following a residency at the University of British Columbia he became a Royal College certified general pathologist (FRCPC) and also a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (FCAP).” “He is in good Standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and has been recognized by the Court of Queen’s Bench in Alberta as an expert in pathology.” Noting that he was also an expert in virology, Hodkinson pointed out that his role as CEO of a biotech company that manufactures COVID tests means, “I might know a little bit about all this.” The doctor also slammed the unreliability of PCR tests, noting that “positive test results do not, underlined in neon, mean a clinical infection,” and that all testing should stop because the false numbers are “driving public hysteria.” Hodkinson said that the risk of death in the province of Alberta for people under the age of 65 was “one in three hundred thousand,” and that it was simply “outrageous” to shut down society for what the doctor said “was just another bad flu.” Hodkinson remarked that “social distancing is useless because COVID is spread by aerosols which travel 30 meters or so before landing,” as he called for society to be re-opened immediately to prevent the debilitating damage being caused by lockdowns. Hodkinson also slammed mandatory mask mandates as completely pointless. If the virus can travel 100 feet and you need N95 masks or greater to have any effect, these current protocols are not going to do much. Why not hand out Vitamin D to everyone? Seems like that might have a much greater benefit/ cost.

  36. I agree. I thought the Bulls would get smarter by getting Gar Forman out. I didn’t like the pick at four. I thought they would either get Dani or trade up to 2. I suppose they are hoping the kid can be like John Collins but he really doesn’t strike me as a winner. That roster is a total cluster. Nothing fits, and they don’t have guys with the winner gene. Regarding the Bears, both the head coach and the GM have got to go. I am sorry but trading up for Trubisky when Mahomes and Watson went later is a “clean your office out on the spot” situation. He’s Grigson-level dumb. That’s a defining moment that is fireable and then they get Foles? That guy is such a stiff. It should tell you something when three other organizations have cut him loose. He is really bad. The head coach has no idea what he’s doing. They’ve already won too many games to get Lawrence or Fields but you need an organizational enema to get the decision makers out of there to get it fixed. The Bears are a core league franchise and the right guys can fix this. Nagy and Pace are not worthy and don’t fit.

  37. I seen Payton Pritchard last year when the Ducks beat the #5 Wolverines. Helluva ball player...20.5 ppg and 5.5 apg. I think the Quacks could have won the title last year.

  38. I expected Pritchard to go in the second but I love the pick. If he proves to be quick enough to defend, I think he will be solid. I saw him play a few games late at night and he was outstanding at that level. I don’t have his stats in front of me but I think he really takes care of the ball and can shoot lights out. He’s got an edgy attitude, and I tend to love edgy guys like that. Brown and Smart are my favorite Celtics but Pritchard will be up there for me. Guys that make the tough/clutch, team oriented play. Winners.
