  1. Lander has the worst PER and W/S Per 40 of any of the scholarship players. If the purpose is to win now, his role should continue as it has been until his play improves. 2020-21 Indiana Hoosiers Roster and Stats | College Basketball at Sports-Reference.com (sports-reference.com)

  2. Not saying don't play him. Of course, you have to get everyone, especially freshmen, some time to keep them sharp and allow them to grow. Get him 15-20 minutes of time, including some of it when it matters. At the same time, if we need Rob, Al, and Armaan to play 30 minutes each to win a conference game, then we need to give those 3 guys their 30 minutes. If that means guys like Lander, Leal, Geronimo, etc. only get 10 minutes that game, so be it.

  3. Just started snowing here! Love the city during a snowstorm. I have already ventured out to get beer, so totally set.

  4. i mean i'm good with Lander getting more and more time and really even Al getting a little less, but again, Lander has a long way to go and Al helps us more right now. will that be the same in a month? maybe not. will it not matter much in month? maybe not.

  5. Or just what happens to a small island that is only a 15 minute walk across that a couple million people hang out in. Haha!

  6. I’ll get out this weekend and see how things look. Many places aren’t decorating this year, but Midtown will still be decked out. I do think that the holidays are really special in NYC. It’s the only time that I really care to visit Manhattan.

  8. Enjoy! Years ago the firm I worked with would bring us to NYC in December for a few days every year. Very special time of the year there.....and snow sometimes helps hide the other stuff going on.

  9. Real quick glance looks like 21-9 or so with 4 of those 9 losses coming to Raiders.

  10. I just did a quick glance at MNF games from 1970-1985. Don't hold me to this but during that 15 year period it looks as if Raiders were 25-1-1 on MNF games.

  11. Don't know about the MNF thing. But it seemed I always saw them play on the Sunday late game that they always seemed to win. That was in the 70's. To me, they weren't quite the same after Madden retired even though the success continued.

  13. You got me to looking up those Raider teams I grew up with...not as "great" as what I thought.

  14. i kinda get Al if we're looking at next year already, but not RP. i also don't think it's time to look to next year yet.

  16. I agree with that 100%...His overall decision making needs to improve... Right now, I think Kristian believes scoring is his way to more more minutes and an eventual starting role...It's not...

  17. I'd assume at least 3 more. Not sure that Al would be real happy with the product he's seeing on the field today. I don't know if it's players or staff or both but this Gruden/Raiders thing just isn't clicking.

  18. i think Lander should start if... we are conceding this season. i don't think any o us think that though, right? Rob is better right now. not sure how this is much of an argument. is Lander's upside higher? absolutely! should he start playing more and more? absolutely. is he going to help us win more games if he is playing more of a role than RP right now? no sir. i'm not even worried about his defense. he is out of control with the ball, his passing, and shot selection. he is making a huge adjustment at a very high level a year early. he'll come around, but not yet.

  19. I often wonder how many titles the Raiders would have had if it weren't for the Dolphins or Steelers. Or if Oakland/LA had been in the NFC?

  20. PG didn't force his way out of two situations? It just seems really convenient to give PG a pass but then try to demonize Butler for wanting out of Chicago and Minnesota as if those are places that have won with the consistency that Indiana and OKC have. And look, I might be the second biggest PG defender on the board (remember a few days ago when I pointed out he has shown multiple times he can play at an MVP caliber level) behind you but he was never in situations as bad as Butler, and the teams he's left have at a minimum not gotten worse, where as Butler's teams have shown that they were trash after he left. I don't think anyone would argue the fact that PG is more talented than Jimmy Butler, but i think you're the only person (on the board, maybe on the planet) that would argue PG is on the same playing field as Butler between the ears. The reality is Butler is a really good teammate to guys who want to win and a great leader. I'm not sure how you can say either of those things about PG with a straight face...

  21. Lander isn’t ready to start (imo), but he has a higher upside than Rob and the more he plays the better he will get and the faster he’ll get there. He is an extreme talent. Without going into who should start over whom, IowaHoosierFan’s position isn’t crazy. Rob is a strong defender and, imo, brings that steady veteran floor leadership we need on the floor, along with an improved deep shot — that he doesn’t go for enough and that he hasn’t shown consistently yet - and I want him out there, but Lander absolutely, imo, needs more floor time and run than he’s being given. CAM’s approach can be holding him back, just because CAM is limiting him doesn’t make it right. And on his D he has actually shown good D, he doesn’t get beaten often, his defensive positioning is sound. He’s just not acclimated to the speed and timing of the college game. He will get there, we’re talking the top ranked point in his class. TO’s are part of that.

  23. He forced a trade from two bad teams that haven't done worth a dang since he left. Hard to put the blame on him and it looks like he was spot-on with how he felt about the Bulls and Wolves situations.... I can only imagine what you'd say about a two-way wing that forced his way off of two teams that both played better without him if this is how you feel about Butler....

  24. I think the sample size is too small for analytics. Need probably a minimum 10 games for the outlier games to smooth out...especially with so many out of conference games and the competition varying so significantly.

  25. I’m not really following where you’re going here. Again I wasn’t taking a swipe at Butler though again I think he was basically a malcontent on prior teams, before Philly. As to whether guys want to fight long term with their teams, or chase a ring somewhere that’s an individual choice. Was there something wrong with Reggie for playing 18 years with the Pacers? Or is there something wrong with Dame for being loyal to the Blazers, and laughing at the way Durant ran to the team that beat him to get a ring in GS? No. But there’s also nothing wrong imo with guys leaving bad organizations, or managers / management who screw up the teams (eg, Bird), or who need a better fit, or who are looking for better pay etc.

  27. I know there has been a lot of discussion of school closures here - I thought this was interesting, showing it is very effective at reducing COVID transmission. Also interesting: stay at home orders, on its own, not that important. What's more important is masks/small gatherings/etc.

  28. And he probably will never be surrounded by championship caliber talent. Miami could have provided him that. I don’t get your Butler swipe..that guy is a pit bull on the court. Wants to win at all cost and I respect he forced his way out of some terrible organizations and situations. Good luck to Giannis.

  29. Interesting. More interesting are the player ratings. TJD #3. Next closest is Race at #156 then Lander at #193. Rob is #742 and second to last on the team in front of Leal.

  30. Florida's Keyontae Johnson is still in the hospital in critical but stable condition. Yesterday they woke him from a medically induced coma. I hope he makes a full recovery from whatever caused the collapse.

  31. Was kind of weird yesterday, as it was gorgeous and 60 degrees. All of the outdoor restaurants and bars set up for outdoor dining were PACKED. I walked a few blocks to get a carryout pizza and had to walk in the street b/c of all the diners. I think people and the restaurants were trying to get as much in before indoor dining was cancelled today. I’m really feeling for all the restaurant and bar staff going forward. They are basically going to be jobless as not many people are going to want to eat outside in the winter no matter how nice their setup is or how many propane heaters. We are mostly prepared here, but feeling very down about all of the people this is going to impact. I think the first time, we didn’t really know what we were facing, but after more than six months of reduced profit/pay this time is going to be much worse for people. Also hoping that we (or any of us anywhere) don’t have the overflowing refrigerated trucks fill of bodies and 24/7 sirens... Not sure I can do another March/April situation this winter. This could be a rough winter all over - even my hometown county is not looking great lately. But you are right, Spring will come and hopefully all of us will make it out of this. And hopefully, we can have IU basketball to keep us entertained.
