  1. From before Aarman Franklin joined IU I loved his game . I see so much of the same things in CJ but CJ is a better shooter at that point. I like this young man a lot

  2. This old lady handed her bank card to the teller and said “I would like to withdraw $10”. The teller told her “for withdrawals less than $100, please use the ATM. The old lady wanted to know why... The teller returned her bank card and irritably told her “these are the rules, please leave if there is no further matter. There is a line of customers behind you”. The old lady remained silent for a few seconds and handed her card back to the teller and said “please help me withdraw all the money I have.” The teller was astonished when she checked the account balance. She nodded her head, leaned down and respectfully told her “you have $300,000 in your account but the bank doesn’t have that much cash currently. Could you make an appointment and come back again tomorrow? The old lady then asked how much she could withdraw immediately. The teller told her any amount up to $3000. “Well please let me have $3000 now.” The teller kindly handed $3000 very friendly and with a smile to her. The old lady put $10 in her purse and asked the teller to deposit $2990 back into her account. The moral of this story is.... Don’t be difficult with old people, they spent a lifetime learning the skill.

  4. I know this article is from this summer, but... "If sports could be taking place this summer, Casey would be playing with Meanstreets in the Nike EYBL in Chicago. One of his teammates on Meanstreets is Jalen Washington, another five-star prospect who has an offer from Indiana. “It’s good playing with him. We have great chemistry that we built off the court and on the court as well,” Casey said on playing with Washington. “We talk to each other a lot. He’s a great teammate, great person, we have a great bond. I love playing with him.” Would that be a nice haul or what?

  5. We had a big time week last week. Winning at Connersville in OT, winning at New Albany in 2OT and beating Floyd Central on a 3 with 1.2 secs left. Shew. My JV team beat a previously undefeated FC team on Sat, as well. Big week.

  10. From what I saw of him on streams, he has a very nice outside shot with a nice touch. Let’s not forget, he is literally IN STATE. Purdue just brought in Edey, Kaufman, and Furst at the 4 and 5 positions. That’s alot of mouths to feed. I may be wrong but my recollection is that MSU similarly has commits from very highly ranked 4’s and 5’s coming. Meanwhile IU has a center recruit and plenty of wings. But IU can sell him on being featured in our offense at the four spot. I’m not saying anything is happening but that would be my pitch. We have the biggest opportunity and it is in state if he has home state pride. What his relationship is with Archie, I have no idea.

  11. That's my concern though. 'Avoiding Crowds'. In the future, I want to go to an IU game, with a jam-packed Assembly Hall, not wear a mask, and be able to scream my brains out, without worrying about it being flu season. Any type of social distancing measure will prevent that experience from happening. Is there risk in catching the flu in that environment? Yes, there absolutely is. But, I'm willing to take that risk. I'm not with Covid, as things stand now. But, with the flu I am.

  12. Gotta give some props to the local team. South Decatur recently lost a few games due to Covid. What does the smallest 2A team in the state do but schedule two 4A teams Columbus North and Columbus East back to back on a Tuesday and Wednesday night. They got blown out by North but pounded East by 30. Lane Lauderbaugh the schools all time leading scorer and rebounder a 6'5 guard scored 49 against East. Last year I think they could have made a serious run for the championship in 2A this year maybe not but still fun to watch. Congrats Coach Wildey and the Cougars.

  13. I think officials are incredibly, incredibly poor at calling travels. Essentially, coaches and players want very few travels called. Refs just aren't good at it. Less is more when it comes to officiating.

  14. Understand. Was talking with a few more people last night who have similar sentiments to you and Leather in this thread. Starting to come around on it since I originally posted. If the goal is to help speed up play and they think this will do it...all for it. I'm still of the opinion they just start handing out penalties more. That will speed up some of the preshot routines...I mean it's painful to watch Spieth, Day, Bryson, Holmes and a few others.

  15. Something I've read recently when it comes to vaccine production. There are only so many facilities that produce it. Those same facilities produce 100's of other drugs. So there is some prioritization. There are alot of rare diseases, and alot of people with disease that need therapeutics. You cant just shut down the production of those drugs and prioritize covid vaccines. @Billingsley99 has taught us alot about Ayden and mitochondrial disease. We dont want to disrupt his supply of medication or millions of others. How are you all doing btw? So it's a balancing act. So it's more than just distribution.

  20. I'm sure the good habits we've developed of not touching our face and washing hands will factor into the future spreading of the flu. We can at least do that without masks and distancing. I also think better education on vaccination is helping. Until last year I was always under the impression that a flu shot was to decrease my risk of getting the flu, which is true. But I overlooked the bigger benefit, which is that by getting a shot I'm also doing my part to mitigate the spread. Realizing this, I'll be more likely not to miss my annual flu shot.

  21. Hopefully we can keep getting updates on this kid. From what I saw he doesn’t seem to impose himself on the court..kinda just floats along but he has such a soft touch. Could see him in that Hunter role.

  22. He's shorter than the guys Archie usually targets other than Rob but he does have long arms which helps make up for the height. Which to be honest that's more important in some ways than a guys height especially on defense.

  23. It's a practice that will start spreading. Would not be surprised to start hearing of some high school doing it within a week. It will become a story beyond the Mavericks.

  24. Their JV team had 3 dunks in the 1st q of a game this year lol We actually out rebounded them. I've got some football players on my JV team.. we just half court trap and run 5 out on offense. We probably avg 10 off rebs a game, thankfully, because we can't shoot.

  25. I probably get my best shooter to the FT line once every 5 games because the refs and the other coach weren't paying attention to who got fouled.

  26. There is a lot of powerful stuff in this peer reviewed paper which is brutally critical of how the CDC changed all sorts of policies and broke all sorts of laws. Why? The last paragraph I quote below sums it up nicely and explains why the "this time is different" excuse doesn't hold water. https://cf5e727d-d02d-4d71-89ff-9fe2d3ad957f.filesusr.com/ugd/adf864_c39029cd980642e48797cdb2ef965972.pdf As a result, people hospitalized with a positive PCR test could be tested every 24 hours and each time counted as new COVID-19 to the complete absence of basic rules to ensure that this could not happen. The CDC published guidelines on March 24, 2020 that substantially altered how cause of death is recorded exclusively for COVID-19. This change was enacted apparently without public opportunity for comment or peer-review. As a result, a capricious alteration to data collection has compromised the accuracy, quality, objectivity, utility, and integrity of their published data, leading to a significant increase in COVID-19 fatalities. ...the reality is that COVID-19 became emphasized as a cause of death as frequently as possible, while comorbidity was simultaneously deemphasized as causes of death. We believe this deliberate decision by the CDC and NVSS to deemphasize pre-existing comorbidities, in favor of emphasizing COVID-19 as a cause of death, is in violation of 44 U.S. Code 3504 (e)(1)(b), which states the activities of the Federal statistical system shall ensure “the integrity, objectivity, impartiality, utility, and confidentiality of information collected for statistical purposes.” This violation has inevitably resulted in COVID-19 data for cases, hospitalizations, and fatalities being artificially elevated, and definitively compromises prudent decision making at federal and state executive levels. This includes policy enforcement for a public health crisis that may not have existed had the CDC abided by the laws that ensure the accuracy of data collection Public health policies that create more collateral damage while attempting to avoid an infection with a 99.05% rate of recovery in the vast majority of citizens must be objectively investigated and critically questioned if the goal of living in a healthy society is to be realized. Federal agencies have a legal obligation to provide the most accurate data to the public, fellow agencies, and policy makers they are advising, and they have a responsibility to abide by every federal law. This responsibility to collect, analyze, and publish data accurately, transparently, and with unquestionable integrity increases exponentially during a national crisis. It is concerning that the CDC may have willfully failed to collect, analyze, and publish accurate data used by elected officials to develop public health policy for a nation in crisis

  29. They are totally different, so that would be weird. And the flu isn’t as contagious, so we may have found a new tool in fighting the flu - frequent handwashing, some form of social distancing, and masks.

  38. Wasn't sure where to put this, but I was looking at nerdy science videos (because that's what physics teachers do) and came across this video of a robot field goal kicker. It was really cool, but one clip stood out. There was one clip that showed them at IU taking drone videos of some field goals by our kickers. I ended up finding the longer version of it. So cool that our kickers were part of that, and were briefly shown in a video that has over 17 million views in 3 days. Here's the longer version that shows the videos of our kickers.
