  3. Okay. No Speculation. As a result, we have to also get rid of. The entire recruiting forum. Names should not be brought up on the board until the LOI is in hand. Pre-Game threads. Isn't that whole concept about us speculating what may happen in the upcoming game. All threads related to Archie, I suppose we could pin a Biography thread at top so visitors know who the coach is. The Investing thread in the Animal House must certainly go. As should all the "Best Of' threads on there. And, finally, I'll nix the idea I had about a thread to discuss the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse on June 14th, 2025. Seriously. Nobody said "I bet it was a fight' or 'I heard Cooper Bybee took exception to a hard screen from Race'. People just acknowledged that fights have been known to occur on the basketball court, No one overtly claimed that was the reason. Edit: The zombie apocalypse is REAL. Make preparations NOW!

  4. Imagine being upset at the community over a 2500 post fire archie miller thread over four straight years of a losing conference record.

  5. This thread is a cesspool of misinformation. So sad to see IU basketball where it is. Come on here to catch up and have to put up with this BS. Then there's the 2500 posts on fire Archie thread along with the new coach thread. What a counter productive cesspool.

  8. @Rogermci Calling this thread a cesspool is a head scratcher. Very little in the way of out of bounds speculation. Saying that the two most common ways a player breaks his nose playing basketball are an inadvertent elbow and a fight with a teammate is not a cesspool. That's just discussing logical possibilities. Saying Player A was shaving points to help Player B support a serious drug habit, while they both kept quiet about Player C having an affair with the coach's wife, though the coach didn't mind because he was busy finding enough money to pay Big Recruit #1 an incentive to play for the team. That would be a cesspool.

  10. I have sources that some would consider fairly deep. This post isn't far off with one caveat. From what I've heard/who I've talked to, IU would be a foregone conclusion if the IU admin made the play and sold Stevens on the job and he was convinced the university/administration was behind him and also paid him accordingly. Again, I keep alluding to the fact the IU basketball/Alabama football comparison isn't that far off. Stevens won't go back to Butler. That's not even in the equation. There is no denying the deep affection Stevens has for Butler, but that has lot to do with what he accomplished, first opportunity to coach and all the stuff that goes on with it. "Coaches don't think like fans or former players" is telling. It's why Stevens is more in play than people realize. I still think it's a long shot, but it's more of a possibility than people usually give it credit for, but the fact that coaches don't think like fans/players is the very reason Stevens is in play even if a long shot.

  11. Heard from a source that is with the team daily that it was not a fight. I Don’t know if he is out for year or not. I just want to put away the rumors/speculation that it was a fight.

  12. The only chance for IU to get a legit, big splash coach is money. Those coaches aren't coming here "because it's Indiana." The only way to get someone like Beard to entertain IU is to raise his salary to where he can't say no. He's not coming because he once was a GA or whatever for Knight. He'll might come for $8M-$9M, but he's not coming to simply restore IU or because he loves Knight. That's why I keep saying I'm fine if we move on from Archie, to this point it's certainly warranted, but IU needs to be ready to up the ante for an experienced, established coach, or we'll be right back in the same cycle.

  19. So are many of the top coaches. We have to fight fire with fire or we can continue to be awful for another 20 years. I'd make a huge push for Stevens and while it's not impossible he probably says no. We're going to have to take a coach with question marks if we want to win unless we get lucky.

  20. My youngest kid followers Parker Stewart among many other players religiously. He has never played a game. If he posted about the new hot shoe at Dicks she would pay attention. Not only is it about who is following you on social media it’s about the age of that follower. That 13-24 demographic is most likely to follow these guys and most likely to spend on said products. We are going to see players posting about all kinds of products that none of us will care about but the kids will be all in on. Also let’s not forget this also does help the non stars. A golfer or volleyball player at IU should be allowed to sell their time to give lessons. Or maybe someone holds an independent camp where I get paid a stipend to help run things. Lots of avenues to generate revenue for yourself. Hell I have paid coaches directly a lot of money for one on one lessons with my kids. I would love to get someone that plays in the NCAA that is closer in age to my kid and clearly understands what they are going through as a young athlete. Relating to your coach is a lot harder when they are older and the opposite sex which unfortunately happens a lot.

  21. Our administration wants to use HUGE chunks of sports revenue to support things other than sports while when building new sports facilities, making them really nice, but NOT looking to make them the best in the conference or nation. Our faculties are nothing to scream from the mountain tops about.

  22. Yes, the fan base that came out in droves when Crean was throwing any bodies he could find on the court in his first two years is the problem. The fan base that is one of the most knowledgeable in the country is the problem. The fan base that sees 4 other conference teams in the top 10 and wonders why we are struggling to make the tournament in year 4 with CAM is the problem. You can blame the fans all you want. You can say all the bad things about the fan base you want. But, you’re rightfully going to get called out for it because it’s ridiculous. If a coach isn’t coming here with the goal of winning a NC, then he’s simply not the right person for the job, and half of the programs in this conference would say the same thing. But, yah, the problem is the fans. Give me a friggin break.

  24. Some say it's over...Stick a fork in IU and Archie Miller and this team. Over? Did you say 'over'? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when Kentucky was ahead and then we got the Wat Shot? Was it over when Syracuse was ahead and Keith Smart hit that shot? Was it over when Kent Benson stole the game from Michigan? Hell no!... It ain't over. What the heck happened to the Indiana fans I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst. 'Ooh, we're afraid to go with you we might get dissed... Well, just kma from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Their guards are dead men. Their big man...dead! This requires a really stupid and futile gesture. I say we cut down the nets at the end of the game to celebrate not being Rutgers. That is after beating them like a rug! IU 74 Rutgers 64.

  27. Everyone automatically assumes BS would be "the savior" and kill it at IU, but I'm not so sure (I'm more sure that I'll be ridiculed for this blasphemous notion). He only coached for 6 years at Butler and it was 8 years ago now. He took over a program that had 2 years of success under the previous coach that left for a bigger job. He coached in a mid-major conference. He had a future NBA All-Star on the team he took to a bank-shot away from a title. His 2nd NCAA champ game run was more impressive since GH was gone, but on the opposite side of the coin they are a ball bounce/call the other way from losing to Pitt in Rd2 (remember this crazy ending? ) and Florida in the E8 (went to OT), not to mention they got #11 seed VCU in the FF. He doesn't have experience in building a program at a Power5 school, is allegedly not fond of recruiting, and might be restricted by admin if rumors are true. This isn't a pro-Miller or anti-Stevens post. Just food for thought.

  28. Scott Drew - Lived in Indiana 13+ years -Only makes 400k more than Archie -Took Baylor from major sanctions and no players to a top national program -10-6 in NCAA tourney, 2 seasons were ended by eventual national champ - 25+ wins in 5 of last 12 years (IU has 2) -4 sweet 16s, 2 elite 8s in last 11 years (IU has 2 and 0) oh btw, Baylor was one of the favorites to win it all last year - Baylor has had a higher rank than IU in 9 out of last 14 years -Currently 18-0 - 44-4 in last 2 seasons

  29. That's a debatable point. There are plenty of folks in there who aren't remotely reasonable; the people who twist reality to make it worse than it is aren't reasonable. There's enough bad for most of us to have a reasonable discussion about next steps without twisting things to make it worse. You hurt your cause when you do that.

  31. College coaches aren’t afraid of fans...they only worry about spineless admin who won’t support them. Every fan base in the country has crazy classless fans. Will you support me and give me the tools and resources to do my job. Will you not put obstacles in my way. Will you pay me. These are what coaches care about. If they are a great coach they think their culture, their way will translate to success anywhere. This isn’t a sport nor is this school one that would require a huge time to turn around. It only takes a couple special kids and about 5-6 others that but into you and what you do. You can find them and get them to Indiana...it’s been done many times over. We just need the right guy steering the ship. I hoped it was Archie but I don’t think another 4 years he will be any closer. Some may not have faith...but I know there is a coach out there that sees the same things many of us sees...a sleeping giant...just waiting to be woken up.

  37. Scott you've always swore that Brad has more family time in the NBA. Not sure if that's true. http://www.playerwives.com/nba/boston-celtics/brad-stevens-wife-tracy-stevens/ Brad Stevens & Family Away From the Court Brad and Tracy have a son named Brady and a daughter named Kinsley who are still both very young. They’ve also got a puffy little doggie named Mac who functions as the family mascot. Brad Stevens’ wife Tracy used to love going on vacation with the fam in the college offseason. I say used to because the last documented vacation I know of that they went on was to Hawaii all the way back in 2012. Since becoming a professional NBA coach, these opportunities are harder to find.

  39. The fact that you'd rather kids get taken advantage of than have a few kids take advantage of the system says all I need to know about how some of you value about people. If I was going to pinpoint what is absolutely embarrassing for a fanbase, it's saying someone doesn't have a right to own their own likeness. That's so much more dehumanizing than any amount of expectations for on court performance.

It is just a lock solid fact to you. No offense, because I enjoy your contributions, but we get your stance on this.
