  1. You guys are unreal. Dragging Armaan and India because you can't see him in a picture? India handled his initial recruitment the exact same way. Individual meetings with all coaches, asking them to outline their plan for Armaan. Armaan did the same with each coach. Then they calibrated and came up with a decision. They have met with Woodson. I am not sure what follow up meetings have taken place. I know many of these players are giving Woodson time to get to know them before making a final decision, Armaan included. Woody knew almost none of these kids before Sunday and you want them all to pledge allegiance without getting a few questions answered? Many know what he did for NBA guys; now they want to know what his plan is for them. Not wrong to get those answers before making a such a big decision.

  2. Jalen has been hearing a lot from IU since Miller was fired, even before Woodson was hired. Roberts and Hunter were busy.

  3. That kind of rubs me the wrong way. I think he is going to be a heck of a player, but if I'm Woodson, you got another week man. And by the way, until you are committed, I am going to be looking to recruit over you. If another guy comes in and we are out of spaces, best of luck young man.

  4. These players don't have to go to college to play basketball. They could go overseas, G league, or even not play basketball, heck not even go to college. I don't agree players should be able to transfer without sitting a year, in most cases. I am also glad they've become much more lenient on giving out a 6th year to kids. Just because it appears it's "unfair" to them, to me is honestly irrelevant.. sitting out a year is much better than the circus the alternative has produced. When I transferred colleges not all my credits transferred even though I had passed the exact same course at the prior school... a consequence for my mistake.

  5. Players come to to play for a University for the coach and/or school. I have zero problem with these players checking out their options. They were recruited by Archie. They need to get recruited again by Woodson. That’s just how it works. If they don’t agree with his vision for them and the team, then they can go elsewhere. Galloway and Leal, they clearly love Indiana and want to be here no matter what, which is great. However, other players checking out their options before recommitting to the team is literally no big deal at all.

  6. Personally, I don't like this "free for all" and think the NCAA needs to set some kind of limitations. Obviously this is a unique year and circumstances, but going forward I think they need to set stricter guidelines. At the very least, I would like to see them set a 30-60 day window for transfers at the end of the season for the portal. I am leaning towards players sitting out a year to transfer, especially if they transfer more than one time or within the same conference. Just my .02

  7. Has Armaan ever looked out the windows of the Motel 6 they stay at when IU visits Champaign, or do they black those out to keep the people who stay there by choice from harming themselves after reflecting on what a hellish life they're mired in?

  8. If Coach Woodson isn't already "recruiting over" every single player we have, we picked the wrong guy. It's his job to get the best players every year. It's the players' jobs to outplay newcomers.

  9. I just wanna say that these message boards are public, and are looked at by players and their parents more than we know. I know in the case of Franklin, his mother is very engaged in social media, and has even done some outstanding interviews on some podcasts. He seems like a good kid from a solid family, and if he goes to Illinois, does that make him a “traitor?” I am not necessarily referring to any previous posts, but also the things I am seeing on IUBB Twitter page. These are young men, and none of the “Tough guys” that played for RMK had to deal with people going on Twitter or Instagram and criticizing everything they do. For instance, I saw a lot of outrageous stuff said about RP, and we wondered why he froze up when shooting? Parents see that, too, and if the perception is that we have a jaded fanbase that will turn on these kids, ( and I know it’s most if not all schools) why wouldn’t they encourage their kids to try something new? None of these players came to IU with the imagination of boos raining down on them on their last game of the year. I would love to see Franklin back, but he needs to do what’s best for him, and IU will move on.

  10. Wait..... How do we know he has not been at any of these meetings, or met with the new coach? Is this verified or conjecture?

  11. This is nonsense. His mother does an amazing job as he develops into adult hood. Research their relationship.. Sorry, this is a rubbish take.

  12. I really want Armaan here. But if he leaves, dear God not Illinois. Why??? That makes no sense to me. Dangit Armaan, you are perhaps the most beloved player on this team. Stay home. 🙏

  13. I just read his bio on ESPN. It said he was considered one of the best 3 point shooters in the ACC. He is a 5’10” G. He was a sophomore so he wouldn’t be just a one year guy.

  14. Imagine, if Carmelo texted/called a prospect in support of Woodson. Would Syracuse get hit with sanctions? LOL Knowing the NCAA, I wouldn't bet against it!

  19. I am hoping Woody gave them all a deadline. It's a holiday weekend with so maybe Monday? I wouldn't say it is time to panic yet for sure, but I am a little surprised that only Parker withdrew from the portal thus far.

  21. I have no problem with the portal. Nobody looks down on somebody who changes a job because it’s a bad fit. Nobody looks down at a student who transfers because the program wasn’t right for them.

  22. Hello, loyal following! As you've noticed, we've had a little bit of downtime recently. It came on two of the most important days, too! The truth of the matter is that our site has grown substantially over the last 12 months. On a normal day, 90%+ of the traffic we receive is from unregistered members (hey, lurkers - register and get posting!) who want to see the new, exciting conversations happening. On a day where we have massive news, thousands of people will instantly flock to the site to catch up. Servers are by rule poorly set up for such immediate, massive traffic spikes. While I dabble as our server administrator, I am in truth poorly qualified for the task. Self-taught would be putting my skills kindly. To that end, we've invested into a retainer for a server administrator. Their firm helped get us back up both times and is now on call 24/7. We've also added to our server size. In the interests of full transparency: previously, our entire server costs were $30/mo, which I happily paid and just considered akin to a bar tab. Our monthly costs now run $200/mo. That's still relatively cheap for a site our size, but a bit of a bigger hit to my pocket book. Additionally, we paid a few hundred to get back up. Many of you have noted a willingness to chip in to help operating costs - as you can see on the sidebar, that functionality is now enabled. All costs will go towards operating expenses and any excess will sit in reserve for future server outages. If we build too big of a reserve, we'll shut off the donation function. Feel free to direct any particular questions to me via PM. Thanks to everyone for your support! HF

  23. The original script title was The Boys of Summer. The 3rd base coach was played by none other than Maury Wills who at the beginning of movie was discussed as attempting to break the stolen base record in 1962. Worthless knowledge at work

  24. I can guarantee you that if Mike Woodson takes the approach a lot of you want him to, he's going to have a really hard time convincing talented players in the future he cares about them and wants what is best for them. I want players that want to be at IU and are confident in that decision, not guys we rushed into a decision before they could possibly take the time to reflect and make an informed decision. Some of y'all are like high pressured used car salesman.

  25. OK. I'm simply sharing what is actually happening. You are entitled to believe this is equivalent to infidelity; that's your prerogative. But I can't help noticing the irony of you calling me melodramatic and then literally writing a melodrama.

  26. Agree. Also, I think it's a bit reductive to arbitrarily call these situations "mistakes". Of course there will be instances where the choices are ill-conceived, but many times it can simply be an evolution or growth that alters the path a player is on. The way the terms "mistakes" and "consequences" are thrown around here have such a strong subtext of negativity; as if the players need to atone for something. People/players can make a correct decision in the moment and change their minds to make a decision that's equally acceptable and beneficial, even if it's 'contrary' to the first one.

  27. In the aggregate, yeah, you would not want to lose the whole team. But each individual piece of that team, on its own, is expendable. You are saying that we need some of these guys to stick around to have a good chance next year. No argument from me. I am saying that the prior coach did not leave a full roster and about half of what he did leave is currently non-committal to being here next year. It is normal and within their rights to want to look around to make sure they are in a good situation. From a fan perspective, some of that is off putting, but we are fanatics. By the same token though, them taking forever to make up their minds while good options get gobbled up leaves the team/coach in a bad position should they choose not to come back. I am saying that every guy with his name in the portal right now is not an Indiana Hoosier. He is a free agent. They are free agents we have the home field advantage with, so keep recruiting. However, also have an eye out to replace them and a drop dead date from them on when we need a decision. We are in just as bad a spot as you presented if we wait a month for these guys and they all leave.

  28. It isn't dragging, stop being so melodramatic. I am fine with them getting answers...now. I am saying that of I were Woodson, I would not let this drag out very long. We have what? 5 guys in that portal? I am down to 10 scholarship players on the team, Franklin, Lander, Race, and Geronimo are all in the portal. So right now I got 5 guys I can count on and 1 maybe going pro. Go have your meetings with Illinois or whoever you want Armaan, but I made my pitch man. I can't wait for half my team to "feel me out". You are a high school recruit again. All these guys went 12-15 last year. I am not a big fan of waiting around while my fiance screws a couple other dudes just to make sure she is not missing out somewhere. You want to take a break? Your life, can't stop you and completely withing her right to make sure she is sure before making that commitment, but know that I am going to be looking to replace your butt from jump. I find someone better? C'est la vie. Every guy on a 12-15 team is expendable. Every. Last. One. We have 5 or 6 people committed right now, I would be out recruiting 7 or 8 positions. Edit to add: I know there is this move that these are kids and blah, blah, blah... but college is a semi-pro league. That is undeniable. They get scholarships and some additional fun money to be here. They are about to get NIL money added on. This transfer portal is basically free agency. So can we stop with all of this "they are just kids" nonsense? Armaan is not here for the glory of old IU, he is here for Armaan. I completely realize that and am fine with it. By the same token, that means Armaan (or insert any player really, but he is the guy we are talking about) provides the same service to me as Myles Turner. He is a guy that I pay (either by going and buying a ticket or from watching a game which generates ad revenue or buying merchandise or whatever...) to entertain me. That will rub some people the wrong way who still view things the way they were. Armaan is Oladipo telling players from Miami that he wants to play with them while being a Pacer. Good player you would like to keep around because of that fact, but if we can get someone better while he is out looking, we should. "Why should a kid be loyal when the coaches aren't?" They don't have to be. So why are fans expected to treat these guys like this is still a D3 or HS environment? The relationships are going to change with the rules.

  31. you can count on it! death, taxes, and Scott arguing whatever point you make. i literally think he researches if he can't think of something immediately just to give you one example of how your point could be wrong. generally it's very emphatic too. you absolutely cannot be right because Scott disagrees! i thought the board was going to explode when he and IUFLA turned aginst each other!

  32. Devils advocate. When Mom is tweeting out how much she loves IU and our fans.....some might view that as whatever suits the moment move...if in fact they move on. Armaan and his family have absolutely every right do to what they see as right for them. On the same token it's equally fair for IU fans to be salty if in fact he runs West. I don't like some of the high moral "be better" crowd that always shows up. Nothing directed at you. Just seems to be a theme with some. We'll see what happens I guess but hearing Armaan is even entertaining Illinois is upsetting. Shoot Underwood turned a 2 year no brainer in Ayo to a late first rounder at best by year 3. What's he know about player development?

  33. I’ve always been an Armaan defender but his looking at Illinois is horrible optics. It suggests a complete lack of competitiveness for IU. We haven’t had kids who are competitive enough. If you’re looking at playing at a competitor, then you aren’t wired right.

  34. Wonder why IU have trouble getting coaches and players to want to come here. It is our fans like you who want to ridicule players and their families.

  35. By recruiting over, I mean, "Armaan, you got a week to be in. If you cannot make up your mind in that time, I am going to act like you are a recruit. Which means if I only have one more space left that I want to fill with a guard and you are not ready to commit, I am taking the kid that wants to be here and I am making the decision for you."
