  1. Not sure where to put this...but I think this is huge in how IU is (perhaps?) trying to be a trendsetter for recruiting with some of the new NCAA rules perhaps changing...this could be huge with recruits. I like it!

  2. If we lose Geronimo, we're really, really going to regret that by the time he's done in college.

  3. I think we land him. Just a gut feeling, but tea leaves are suggesting IU. TJD and Coach Hunter liking his tweet, him liking IU tweets and not other schools, etc. There are some question marks, but I mean, he's got 2 teams in the F4 on his list as well. I think it's a very solid addition if we land him.

  4. It’s good we only have to compete with 2 of the final four teams

  5. i'm a little surprised people are sold on Geronimo being more valuable than Lander, Race, or Franklin. let alone all 3! i mean, i see potential, but what i saw had a long way to go. certainly Lander does too, but i'll be interested to see how this turns out.

  6. I don’t think he would tell Race, hey we don’t want you. How many times were we in foul trouble and had a 6’5 dude in the post. Race back would be great. Have 4 dudes over 6’8 that can legit play hasn’t happened since Newton, odle, Jeffries, leach...

  7. I was just told Dane Fife will be added to the staff. Trying to work out contract language on him being the next head coach when Woodson is done. This came from no one I have gotten info from before but I wanted to share. Izzo could retire tomorrow. not sure this makes since.

  10. We have players in the portal yes, but there are some better players in there to. This team was 12-15. It needs more than a coaching change.

  11. Also, not sure if this has been mentioned, but Johnson originally committed to Nebraska in high school when Coach Hunter was there.

  14. Idk. You can't really expect too many Freshmen Bigs to contribute a whole lot in conference play. With Brunks back I would feel much better with 4 post players

  15. If I never hear the phrase “inside out” again, I’ll be perfectly happy. Get the best kids you can who want to be Hoosiers whether they are from Bedford or Bismarck.

  16. Agreed. I sure hope he stays because he's the kind of teammate that brings so many intangibles to a team. Race has shown, I think, great integrity this past year. He has grown not only physically, really making his presence known inside, but also as a leader of this team. It took courage for him to voice his views and concerns last summer, and I was so pleased to see Joey Brunk join him at a march. If Race chooses to go elsewhere to further his career, I will support him 100% because he'll be doing what he thinks is best for himself personally. He's a terrific young man. But I would love to see him stay in the candy stripes and continue his growth at IU.

  17. don't care about color or being an IU guy. i just want the best coach. is that Woodson?

  18. Perhaps I’m in the minority but I don’t want kids on this team who are actively exploring transfering to an in conference rival (especially UofI). I don’t care what the coaching situation is, you don’t do your teammates like that.

  19. Really curious to see what Woodson's recruiting strategy is going to be more long term. I mean less style of play/player, but more talent level. Will he be more in the get old,, stay old mold with a more regional approach, or being a guy with over 40 years of NBA experience, is he going to want to swing big and use that NBA pedigree to up IU's recruiting game nationally with top players. I think that is one thing he has not really been asked or addressed yet.

  21. Was flipping through YouTube and saw that Coach Woodson did a national radio interview with Mad Dog Russo. It is good seeing coach going out promoting IU all over the country.

  22. Whoever did it, leave it be. This is not about race. This is not a social issue. This is about who is the right head coach, and who are the right supporting staff, to bring IU basketball back to prominence. I can’t speak for players, but I bet if they were polled, they would care less what their coach looks like, and would most focus on what they bring to the table, and how they can help get players to the next level.

  25. Wasn’t Franklin’s meeting with Illinois supposed to happen today? Maybe we’ll get more info tonight or tomorrow. Honestly, don’t see why two guards would leave an NBA coach to go somewhere else.. you heard Trayce say yesterday that Armaan is a big “trust” guy and isn’t the type to take a leap of faith.. he will be much more valued at IU with Woodson.. a lot of these coaches are just spitting BS to these guys to get them to come there.. I have a genuine feeling that Woodson is going to do what it takes to get these guys to the next level.. I can’t see why Armaan would leave honestly.. just wouldn’t be able to see why.. especially since Woodson was a guard himself.. he will absolutely elevate his game...

  26. Both. Xavier is mature, impacts us right now. Lander is the future. I do not see a reason to see it as one or the other imo.

  28. Agree. Get the top kids and the kids that fit regionally, then go with a wider net.

  29. Thanks for sharing. I don't mind having a plan in place at all....but let's assume ( I know) Woodson is coaching for another 6-7 years minimally. Would any coach let alone Fife stick around that long? Honestly I would never want IU to commit to an absolute on the next coach that many years out. I want Fife back but not if that means we are guaranteeing the gig to him down the road.

  35. Does having a white guy make winning more enjoyable? I just want a great product on the floor. I don’t get it? Please help me understand why we have to have a certain pigment to be successful. We have watched poor basketball for so long that I just want to watch good basketball.

  36. Oh trust me I completely agree and I strongly feel the same way but if they’re to come back I’ll be happy.. but I agree it’s not settling with me well at all that they’re looking elsewhere when we have a new coach with real and successful NBA experience.. don’t know how they could transfer out with a coach like that at their disposal!

  37. You seriously would not want him??? Have you seen him play? He would be our best guard the second he steps into Bloomington. The kid can absolutely play and is very very fast.

  38. If we can do that without running into the problems Duke and Kentucky face right now, I'm all for it... Almost any 5 star from Indiana (depending on fit/need) should always be a priority though...

  40. For being "irrelevent" like some other teams fans like to claim, having the second most followed twitter account seems pretty good. Goodmans obsessive tweeting about IU tells you all you need to know about were IU stands in the college basketball landscape, they are worried IU that will get back on top.

  41. Only lander was top 50. Geronimo and Race were over 100. that was the issue with Archie - recruiting. His three best players were from the state of Indiana. His only top 100 guy other than that was Jerome Hunter. His program wasn’t attracting national talent - mainly his offense.

  43. Just a question but I wonder if we over value our own guys

  44. I was thinking the same, though it sounds like he is set on leaving. He would be perfect in what I understand Woodson wants to do, long rangy players, who can sink the 3 ball, guard multiple positions. He can also defend much taller guys with his length (remember he did well against Luka).
