  1. He went to IU, played hard, and decided he didn’t want to stay through a coaching change. Anyone who wishes him anything other than good luck needs to look in the mirror a bit IMO.

  2. Now in addition to adding a wing/stretch 4 type, I think we need another shooting guard. 2 more Woody! I wish AF well. Not saying anybody has to do the same but grown adults publicly wishing for him to fail is a tad embarrassing.....we’re better than that. If you don’t think he’ll succeed in Bennett’s offense of find the decision puzzling that’s one thing, but wishing ill will? Bashing his mom? That can be kept to yourself, IMO. The kid gave his all to us, tried playing through injuries and was the only bright spot in our back court this past season. Let’s get a little perspective. Maybe AF felt comfortable in the pack line. Maybe he didn’t want to learn or didn’t think he’d thrive in a new offense. Maybe he felt he’d get more playing time on a better team. Maybe he just didn’t click with CMW for whatever reason. Are any of those reason invalid? The kid’s world just got flipped upside down this last month.

  3. Interesting that there’s more angst from this forum about a player who doesn’t want to be a part of the program than kudos for someone like Race who does

  4. Maybe I could have been more tactful with my words but I stand by my position. I want kids committed to making the program better and contributing to a TEAM. This is a kid who would have played and been featured just fine here for his pro aspirations. I have followed basketball long enough to know that you need buy-in all the way for the benefit of the team. This is a team game, not a game of individuals who are trying to put their interests first. We can agree to disagree here. I don’t want kids like that here and I think we will be better off for it. At the end of the day, I don’t owe the kid a $&@# thing. He doesn’t know or care that I exist and hence neither one of us is worthy of the other’s energy. I don’t wish him any ill will certainly but he’s not worth my time either.

  5. I'll be honest, this one is a bummer. Franklin is obviously allowed to make his own choice and he hasn't done anything wrong at all. I wish him well, though I won't be rooting for him or anything, he'll just be any other player. I just think it's weird that every other player came back (we knew Al was leaving all along), and every other in-state kid especially came back. It's just odd to me to have all of your teammates, again especially the in-state ones, profess their desire to bring IU back and their belief in Woodson, and then just have one guy bail. And, it's a guy that got a ton of playing time and the fans loved. So again, no ill will and I wish him well, and he has every right to make this choice, it just seems odd to me. I would more understand a guy like Geronimo wanting to get closer to home or even Race wanting to go to the school his dad and brother went to, but it just seems really off to me that an Indiana kid chose to leave when all of his teammates are staying.

  6. You? Nah, you are our most eloquent and level headed poster. By far.

  7. This isn’t popular here but it’s the truth. When I saw Trayce’s press conference last week and I heard him say Armaan was “iffy,” I actually rooted for him to leave. Literally every other single player stayed. I mentioned today that Rob deserved credit for staying even though another point guard was brought in. It is not like Armaan was going to be benched or wouldn’t get top coaching or wouldn’t be able to show his skills for the NBA. None of those things are in play here. He doesn’t get it and he doesn’t fit with our culture. We don’t need that here.

  8. This tweet fits his third person speaking style. CMW: "Mike Woodson isn't done with the transfer portal, says Mike Woodson."

  9. Your post read exactly how the late @milehiiu felt and unapologetically spoke to. He was a hard core, 4 years or you are not a Hoosier legend. Your post just made me think of our old friend. 👍

  10. No reason to get involved with any coach named in the FBI investigation....especially one that wanted to pay recruits but wasn't a good enough recruiter to have anyone worth paying lol.

  11. Here's my 5 for next year. TJD The rest of the spots are all open to competition from returning to incoming players.

  12. Tre Mitchell and Locke would be Home Runs. Tre Mitchell would fit in well. Very curious if we've reached out.

  13. The best news is we now have a staff that can coach players up instead of standing around with their hands in their pockets saying I dont know why we cant hit open jump shots or make free throws.

  14. I watched Armaan in high school. Knew he was underrated. Knew he had the chance to develop into something really special. Thought he was doing that. Thought we hired a coach who was going to implement a system he could flourish in even more. His buddies all came back. Something isn't adding up right now.... With that said. You either with us or you aren't. I'm certain there's a "The Wire" scene or quote in there somewhere. He isn't with us. Said my piece and no longer have the Franklin's in my well wishes department. I support and help the kids who want Indiana on the jersey.

  15. I just unfollow him and his Mom and that's it for me. No big deal. They aren't wanting to be a member of IU anymore. That's a choice....but us fans get beat up by some of the high moral ground folks here and elsewhere. He's not an IU guy anymore. Not a fan. Sorry to those who want to splice fandom.

  16. Bob Saccamanno is excited that Mike Woodson says that Mike Woodson is going to keep working the portal. Bob Saccamanno likes the aggressiveness.

  17. They have talked and Roberts is good with whatever situation is what I hear whether it's DOBO or 3rd assistant. Wants to he at IU

  18. Good luck to ArMOM Franklin. I'm sure they will be happy in Virginia. IU did what they could and made it clear they wanted all of the players in the portal back. They got 4 of 6, which is incredible. Fife made the best statement - IU has a new approach. You should want to play at IU and if you don't want to be there they will win with our without you. Now they have time to evaluate and hopefully pick up some players that truly want to be on the team.

  19. Makes me wonder. TJD likely had a good inclination that Armaan was leaving. Yet after Race's announcement, TJD reposted his "we ain't done yet" 🤔

  20. Yasir seems to be "close" to a couple 5 star guys. 1 is committed to Auburn and the other is a freshman somewhere not in portal though. I can't confirm anything just what I heard

  22. Correct. Also the new Coach may or may not be bringing someone with him to play. Would not be shocked to see a new commitment before the new Coach announced

  23. You would rather let someone who has never coached a game of college basketball in his life choose the starting lineup over the know-it-all IU fans on this site? Your fan card is officially under review. 👎

  24. They got incredibly lucky with that title run, more so than an average title run, but yes, they did win the title. With a series of improbable finishes and terrible calls all breaking their way.

  25. New coaching staff and style. Some new players in the mix. I think this is how Mike Woodson sees things right now, and if so, I agree with him. TJD ? ? ? ?

  26. This is a material loss. AF was the best two way player on the roster last year. Just glad he didn’t go to Illinois. That would have been nauseating. Overall though, given where the program was two weeks ago, it’s manageable

  27. My team is on the floor so to speak. No ill will, just not really invested in players who don't want to be here. I think we have a coaching staff that is not here to f--- around. Fife said it earlier this week, we aren't begging dudes to come play for Indiana. Shout out to Leal, Galloway, Hunter, Phinisee, and Brunk for never being daunted. Shout out to Stewart, Davis, Lander, Geronimo, and Thompson for not faltering. Welcome aboard Johnson. Have a good life Arnold.

  28. I'll bite and do a little speculation. Bennett offers him a clear starting opportunity. Woodson is looking to bring new guys in and nothing was guaranteed.

  32. If you are pushing the NBA and player Development for the NBA, it better be an NBA guy. Someone besides CMW that can walk into a home and talk NBA. Dane and Hunter have college covered.

  34. A lot of posts are focusing on the "touchy feely" aspect of Franklin's transfer, nothing wrong with that, but the only aspect I care about is going to occur on the court next season. Franklin is a good shooter, showed improvement during his time at Indiana, and will likely continue his upward trajectory next season too. He might have a career in the NBA. One question though, did he make the players around him better or at least help set them up for success? It remains to be seen if Xavier will be a more productive player, or if his style of play will help his teammates deliver better results, but there are three elements of his game that give me reason to believe he might. 1) Relentlessly downhill attacking guards tire out the defense. They also force help defense, which creates mismatches and in some cases a defensive breakdown leaving a shooter wide open. They also have a higher likelihood of generating foul trouble for the opposition. 2) The combination of pressure defense, quickness, and disrupting passing lanes (all of which I've seen in videos of Xavier), takes the opponent out of their offense flow and creates a higher rate of turnovers. It also wears down the opposition both mentally and physically. Granted it will tire out Xavier too, so conditioning comes into play. 3) Penetration typically pulls in the defense and leads to a more open shot for a perimeter player. Especially when combined with pick, whether on the initial kick out or a secondary pass. It's a prime factor in "turning" a 30% 3PT shooter into a +36% 3PT shooter. I'm not suggesting Franklin was incapable of doing the things described above but it seems like Xavier's game is more tailored for these aspects of the game. If this is true, then there's a good chance the players around him will benefit from his presence and translate into tangible results. If this is Xavier's contribution then I think he will be more valuable than Franklin would have been... if we define and measure "more valuable" by winning basketball games. Or I could be completely wrong and don't know what the heck I'm talking about.

  35. I hear ya. But we have all typed emotionally here at times. We know the character of @BobSaccamanno so I didn't think a lot of it. I understood his point, if not agreeing with the tone. We have all been there on this board.

  36. He’s not a Hoosier for life because he left after two years.. didn’t get a degree here.. a Hoosier for life would be if he was a grad transfer going to play his final year of college eligibility else where. Glad we had him for two years, but not a Hoosier for life.

  37. Honestly, that's kind of my thought too. I want to be very careful to not disparage Franklin as he seems like a great kid. But again, this just seems odd.

  38. Not gonna lie. Not happy with this. However, he’s not going to Illanoy and he’s not going to a sleazy program. Bennett is a class act, and from what I’ve discerned, the Franklin family are quality people. Not the first kid from Indiana who went to UVA. Probably not the last. This would have been a catastrophic loss for the CAM program. With what CMW has kept, and brought in, we can absorb the loss and move forward. Bring in a Mashburn and let’s go!

  40. I don't see where "cleansing the BS" is coming from. Armaan did everything we asked of him in his time here. I'm not saying anyone has to root for him, he just did nothing wrong.

  44. Soooo, was this what Fife was talking about on Dakich when he said they wouldn't be begging anyone to stay?

  45. Sorry man you're better than this post. Armaan didn't do anything wrong, there is no BS with him to cleanse. He evaluated his options and made a decision within what, 10 days of a new coach? There is a absolutely nothing wrong with that.

  46. Good luck to Armaan, Ultimately, he needs to do what he thinks is best for him, just like Xavier did when he chose Indiana. Can't hold that against one when you support the other.

  47. Good luck to Armaan. Would’ve loved him back. This leaves more Avenue for guys like Leal, Lander and Galloway grow into roles to fill his absence.
