  1. That the legislative branch should have other priorities than to trying to " fix" something that isn't really broken. There's plenty of suffering and need in the US that should be addressed over 18-22 year olds who are already getting a free college education for playing a sport that they (supposedly) love...

  3. While college athletes willingly enter a contract to essentially play a child's game, being compensated very well, I sign a confidentiality agreement and contract that I AGREED to do and can still be fired at will for whatever reason. And lets be real, if I and a former IU basketball player had the exact same credentials and applied for the same job I have now, who would get it? Not me. And when I leave work everyday I see this, Seminary park on 2nd st in Bloomington. So yeah, college athletes can STFU.

  4. I freaking LOVE The Far Side. What's even more fun is joining a Far Side Facebook group and reading the comments of all the offended. 😂

  5. I agree totally. Without getting political they get involved in stuff they have no business in and almost everything they touch they screw up.

  7. Jayson Tatum is a freaking stud and the Clippers are the most dislikable bunch of characters I can imagine putting together on one team. That's all I've got.

  8. I can definitely relate. It's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. So many memories and so much elation and heartbreak. The drivers that have been lost and the ones who have been at the front of the field. I remember that I had gone out for a walk and then turned on the Las Vegas race only to hear that Dan Weldon had been killed. I had photographed him the previous year talking to fans. This sport can bring the highest of highs and rip your heart out within seconds. It should be a great race on Sunday. My only hope is that every driver comes home safely.

  9. Funny you should say that... I was watching "A Football Life" of Jerry Rice just now and there were a couple of mentions of Rice being the "Greatest Football Player" ever... I remember Bill Walsh saying that once when both he and Ditka worked the pregame show for NBC. Ditka came unglued. Something like, "I've never seen Jerry Rice make a tackle. We had 13 interceptions one year and Walter made the tackle on 12 of them. Can Jerry Rice block? Can he punt? Can he throw? Walter Payton could!" I'll say Rice is the best receiver ever, but football player? I'll take Sweetness...

  11. That won't happen. Aside from the massive non-compliance such a move would undoubtedly create, there's not enough enforcement staff to enforce it even if you mobilized and deputized the military, assuming they were willing (they aren't). ...and yes, the ensuing paperwork morass (IF people were willing to submit to it) would be untenable. Canada attempted a massive gun grab years ago and quietly ended it several years later with an estimated non-compliance level of approximately 97%. There are a lot more guns in the U.S. than there are in Canada. Chipman is still a ridiculous choice for head of ATF.

  12. I can identify. My first recollection was an infield picnic during 1969 qualifications...Mario Andretti's rookie season. Moved out of Indy as a child in 1972, but that place has a lot of special memories for me...Tom Sneva cresting 200mph and Al Unser Jr. vs. Scott Goodyear at the line... Caught my wife talking to friends planning a Sunday lunch cookout. Had to remind her that I would not be missing the race for a cookout.

  15. First tweet was from a few weeks ago. Hanging out with Penix. It seems like we're in really good shape with a lot of Florida kids this year. 2nd tweet is from today.

  17. Not sure it will be the case that you’re only getting players with 1-2 years eligibility. Now that they don’t have to sit out, there will be a ton of players like Adam Miller at Illinois who choose to leave after one year, for a variety of reasons . If there are a lot of those types of incoming sophomores out there, I can see why you would want to recruit players like that over high school players. The player still has three years left and has already been productive at the college level. Players like that (along with other incoming juniors and seniors) will be really valuable.

  19. So I'm with my mom and dad at rhe moment and brought this up. Mom said Pastor Bob Rogers has a large inner city ministry and has been apart of world missions for a very long time. Bender is the suspect for sure.

  21. I know nothing about this particular recruit so I will reserve judgment. But I wanted to chime in on the age thing. I don’t know what original nationality he is, but there was a big scandal surrounding Thon Maker. He was supposedly a good 4-6 years older than he pretended to be. As I recall, there were people who knew him the first time he went to high school. I think the idea was he switched countries and started high school over but people knew him from his prior stint in high school.

  27. I'm buying. There is huge upside. Not sure if they can be this year's Heat and make a deep run but they looked like the 2nd most capable team last night. Even in a loss the only thing holding back the nets would be their own chemistry and between the ears.

  30. Louisville. Not Louisiana. I turn 40 june 11. My whole life is a hair younger than yours. Ill have to ask my dad. He grew up there and has known the pastor for probably 30 years or more. He actually helped wire the building that fedex bought, hence the new stuff. Ill paste what i just shared on btb. 1. Branden Bender is a straight idiot. Only a grace giving community would give him such a chance. Looks like he has embarrassed them a few times already. 2. Evangel Christian academy has been around a very long time. The school was in disrepair in 2008, economy went south, i thought the school was closing. Well, fast forward, their original property is across the interstate from one of the countries largest fedex hubs. I was driving up I-65 last month when I said, "what the heck? Where's evangel?" Uh fedex bought the property. Hence brand new gymnasiums, football fields etc. Edit to add. That property was probably 200-300 hundred acres of prime real estate right off the interstate, near the airport, 6 minutes from city center. They literally may have gotten 100 million for it. Edit to add 2. The church was established in 1956. Dont know when the school was started but it was junk in 2008. Saw it with my own eyes. More info. 211 acres. They tried selling in 98 for 25 million. Fast forward to now, probably at least double that.

  31. We had front row seats for Cavs at Pacers 4 or 5 years ago and Kevin Love got fouled on a layup and his butt ended up smacked right into Aydens face and hIS hand whacked my wife in the face. Thank God it was nothing lethal like POPCORN. Don't think either would have made it😀

  33. Crazy stat I just saw. #Colts Jonathan Taylor clocked a faster game speed than Tyreek Hill last season: Taylor = 22.05 MPH Hill = 21.91 MPH Taylor weighs 41 pounds more than Hill. What a freakish athlete.

  34. No thank you, with Philly getting the Colts first next season I wouldn't want to give up anymore picks for an aging WR.

  36. Link The highlights... "Johnson also was intrigued by All-American big man Trayce Jackson-Davis returning for his junior season. “It influenced (my decision) a lot,” Johnson said. “Trayce is a very good big that honestly I haven’t played with yet, his talent level. So, I mean, it will be fun to watch.” “I’m ready to come in and work,” Johnson said. “Talking to Coach Woodson, it was a real conversation. My dad asked real questions, and we got the real answers from him." Johnson said he would like to serve as a mentor to Lander. “I really do want to help Khristian become one of the best point guards as well, just having the same leadership role and just coming in, being ready,” Johnson said." This kid sounds like a leader to me...and we've desperately needed that...
