  3. On his Twitter page he says he had an "amazing" visit to Ohio State... a·maz·ing /əˈmāziNG/ adjective causing great surprise or wonder; astonishing in·cred·i·ble /inˈkredəb(ə)l/ adjective impossible to believe. We win the adjective war 😁

  4. Didn't know where to post this and couldn't find it f we already started an 'NIL' thread. Anyway, Hoosier Hysterics has a good interview with the CEO of Opendorse, a new company who is working/consulting IU about the NIL. The way I understand it, this company sets up a program that connects our athletes with companies looking for endorsements. The example given was: an athlete will get a message "Pepsi wants you to send out this tweet out for $1,000" (a pre-made tweet will be ready for them)....click 'yes' or 'no'. For the advertisers the company also establishes a 'market value' per athlete (which is kind of like a Zestimate on Zillow), demographics they appeal to, etc. Some atheltes won't be offered $1k and some won't be contacted by Pepsi, but they do have a value (high or low) that they will financially benefit from. It was an interesting listen, mainly because you begin realize how many opportunities could be available to so many athletes when the NIL becomes reality. This is going to go so far beyond 'a local car dealership paying a player for an endorsement.' This is going to be about athlete's cashing in on their influence, online presence, personality, style, etc. ...talk about an education. (I'm not being facetious) Hands on, real world experience in college about branding, marketing, financial management, contract management, etc......for many athletes this won't be a 'case study'. I'm glad IU is leading the way on this and setting up a support system for current and future athletes.

  8. Xavier Johnson. We've been missing a hard charging point guard With what Woodsen is putting together I think this kid is a gamechanger. I love Rob but he is a solid backup.

  11. Phinessee is my guy. He has show many flashes over his first three seasons, but he seemed to be in his own head or Archie was. I think with an open offense, he can really excel.

  12. Before I head for the noninternet world for a couple days. I have to say this. Don't even know the coaches but how you don't double KD last night is only equally amazing as not attacking Harden on every possession. The guy couldn't walk. Kawhi out. Chris Paul out. Have fun with your Wednesday. Haha.

  13. Really like the black warm-ups with the red Indiana. Wouldn't mind seeing a black alternate uniform.

  14. The other guy I think could improve the most is Jordan Geronimo. He's gotta show Woody early that he can play if he wants minutes. The kid is a gifted athlete, but I also think he's got a ton of basketball skill we have only seen glimpses of so far...

  15. I played on a team from our engineering group in a Texas Instruments league in dallas back in the late 80's. One of the engineers was a golden gloves boxer. He was easily our best athlete. He had no basketball IQ but always got the ball. His hands were so super quick. I saw at least 2 times where he faked the pass over the defenders head and the defender turned around to see where the ball went. Syl still had the ball and would then just drive on by. Rec league ball. Gotta love it. He was like 33 or 34 when he finally quit boxing. His last year he made it the regional finals before losing.

  16. GOAT????? According to WAR, Yadi's career WAR is 22nd among catchers. Tied with the immortal Jason Kendall. The real GOAT, Johnny Bench, leads the way. He is followed by Gary Carter, Ivan Rodriguez, Carlton Fisk, Yogi Berra, and Mike Piazza. Yadi isn't even the active WAR leader among catchers. That honor belongs to Buster Posey. https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/jaws_C.shtml

  20. If you liked Tyra, you should check out the thread on the Lady Stetson Beach Volleyball team starting on page 121 in this thread -> A long meandering debate about Luke Brown (not the next Damon Bailey) and various other off-topic discussions I thought Luke Brown was just code to throw the mods off.

  21. Huge opportunity for Paul George tonight. While he's certainly a great player, he has this perception of shrinking in the big moments in the playoffs. He has a chance to completely change that narrative tonight and the rest of this series with Kawhi out. What say you @Hoosierhoopster?

  24. I'm paying attention to Lander and Bates. If Lander doesn't take that next step we are in need of a PG very badly for the 2022/2023 season.

  27. Let me think about this. Tyra Buss graduated a couple of years ago. Otherwise, she would be the obvious choice. Jordan Geronimo. I think the coaching change has more of a positive impact on him than anyone else.

  28. No, I have 5 autograph's in my life time. Tiger Woods on a 97' Masters flag, Jack Nicklaus on a 2000 US Open flag from Pebble Beach, his last US Open. A painting of Arnold Palmer, Nicklaus and Ben Hogan signed by all 3, which was given to me by Arnold, who my girlfriend at the time was his secretary.

  30. Yep...kind of a late bloomer on the scene if you will. I think he will pick up several more in the next couple years if he keeps working hard as he is. I think he has a lot of untapped potential.

  31. Good for him. Northwestern is a really solid offer. There’s still a ton of time to get more offers.

  32. Awesome stuff you’re bringing to us, Mike. Can’t emphasize it enough. As for Justin, he would be a very nice get for us. I would love to see Filipowski and Taylor pop for us.

  33. Offered by Northwestern a couple days ago....just finished up an unofficial with Purdue....hearing from several others like Iowa, Butler, Virginia, Cincy among several top mid majors like ISU, Belmont, and Lipscomb. Continues to get noticed...hope his travel success translates into his HS season.

  34. Carlisle would be fantastic, but I think the Celtics will be going a younger, fresher direction. Someone in the Billups, Cassell, Becky Hammon type of mold.

  35. I couldn't get the youtube videos to imbed but it looked like he played a lot with his back to the basket and used his physicality to overwhelm smaller opponents....also like you said I didn't see him using his dribble drive a lot. I think his travel ball will give us a better indication because like I said the HS competition in Kentucky is not good.

  36. Yeh. I'm a diehard Mavs guy. Even healthy THJ has cold streaks the way he jacks up shots but yes, he was a bit gimpy too. I don't discount Luka playing hurt but he doesn't mind making sure everyone knows it

  37. In the claims I saw, he never went left. Obviously a small sample size, but you could see where he had a choice, he went right even if it was the harder situation. That tells me he needs to work on going left hard. Very solidly built player though.

  38. Every game Luka plays, he is grimacing through something. It seriously happens every game with. I wonder how much of it is the showman in him. IMO, KP's knee soreness after the late season ankle sprain was a much bigger issue in the playoffs. Whatever usage he had during the season in the paint was there at all in the playoffs. Kleber's achilles was a big problem also. Kleber was their most reliable 3 point shooter during the season and a solid defender who just really didn't have the same mobility.

  39. Even if George does play good I think the Clippers are done with Kawhi out. I'm ok with admitting that the pettiness in me hopes George puts up a clunker the rest of these playoffs. 😁

  42. Wow....Brohm is either a genius or desperate. Offer list was Navy, Hanover, and Valpo. Outside of the DL they just got, and Brady Allen, this class is looking a little light for PU. I know it's early and things can change, but if I were a PU fan I would be a little disappointed so far.
