  1. Bob Knight struggled to improve the hands of 7'3" center Ewe Blab. After Blab graduated and got married, he and his wife had a child - which they invited Bob Knight over to see. First thing Knight said to the wife: "Whatever you do, don't let him hold that baby, because he'll drop it."

  6. I will agree that there seemed to be quite a bit more fireworks going off than normal. I will take that as a good thing. People getting together with family and friends and celebrating.

  7. Weiskamp staying in the draft probably means Iowa is hot garbage next year.

  8. Saving the last minute of this years blowout, Gonzaga played 7 guys and Baylor played 8. I think it's normal to play a bigger rotation in the regular season than you do in the tournament/playoffs, but rest assured in the year 2021 benches are short by the time postseason play comes around for teams that are competing for a title. If you look at the '85 Lakers (won the title) vs the 2021 Bucks, each team has three players averaging over 30 MPG and an additional two players averaging over 25 MPG. I think it is easy as fans to forget how a coach manages/plays his rotation in a run of the mill regular season game. We tend to compare what a coach this year would do in a random game in the middle of January to what Knight would have done in the tournament, and it just isn't really a fair comparison.

  10. In some ways, the 4th is better than Christmas. A 4 day stretch where drinking, playing with explosives and the charring of animal flesh over charcoal-or-gas flames is not just encouraged, but celebrated.

  11. Girl needs to run! My opinion! Coming of age in the late 60’s and early 70’s, unlike liar Bill Clinton I inhaled. No more for me, but to deny this girl her Olympic dream, is absolutely BS! M is not a performance enhancing drug!

  14. Couldn't tell much from the highlight video but he did seem to have good hands...some of the bigs we've had in the past simply didn't have soft hands...you gotta catch it before you can do anything with it... We all saw what the Dickinson kid form Michigan, and to a lesser extent the Edey kid from Purdue did last year... There's still a place for a traditional 5 in college basketball...

  17. Looks to me like I joined. Interesting on week 17 title. Don't mind it a bit. Good for teams with depth or as it happens every year....some random backup backup rb turns into a star as the season finishes. Thanks again for setting up!

  18. Maybe I'm reading into things a bit much but Jed has made a couple comments in public about his displeasure with guys who haven't been vaccinated. Namely Rizzo. I could see him getting shipped because mainly you don't give $ to aging guys who might on the decline....and as I mentioned Jed hasn't been real happy about the clubhouse leadership which is essentially Rizzo. To me it should be total purge. The farm system has some guys (mostly pitching) coming up soon. Bite the bullet. Trade everyone. Go Padres or Theo route....and set this thing up for start of 2023 season. I'd much rather do that instead of watching guys I love bat .188 per month.

  20. I agree. Both on the 3rd and 4th. Seems like people spent a little more this year and are making up for lost parties from last year. Wonder what this will look like when updated for this year?

  23. I'll throw the video up in the morning, but there has been at least a dozen really, really good displays visible from my backyard. With a backdrop of some of the big Cincinnati-area shows off in the distance. It's been sounding like an artillery test range for a good 45 minutes.

  27. For sure Bryant and Kimbrel... Baez, Happ, Hayward (if possible due to that contract)and Contreras...I don't think Rizzo is going any where... Hendricks and Davis if the price is right... And the bullpen had been pretty good until lately...part them out for some young talent... It'll be 3 years before we contend again, but we've been there before...

  29. I gotta get over and see this kid. One thing stands out about his high school v. traveling team. They run zero plays for him at the AAU circus. He looks like a kid that would sit for Bo Ryan a year maybe two then make our lives a living hell twice a year. I'm old fashioned when it comes to the 5 spot. Master your craft 5 feet and in. He reminds me of Joe Klien with a little Adam Keefe.

  34. If you're needing a refill for your holiday parties, give Braxton Brewery's Garage Beer a try. Yes, that's seriously the name. Braxton's is a microbrewery from Covington, KY, and this is their original/flagship. It's a very simple but tasty, easy drinking lager. Think of a typical mainstream lager, but with a very clean taste and just a tiny, tiny bit more of a hop bite. Could easily be swapped in for most typical macros and 80% of people wouldn't complain. Most would say it's an improvement. Not sure on availability, but the Cincinnati area Krogers have been in abundant supply.

  39. I wouldn't make fun of any wrestler...I had a friend in college who was like 5'6 (i'm 6'1) and weighed like 50 lbs less then me. We all did some living room wrestling...I was ok as long as I could keep my long arms extended lol but that kid was as strong as a monkey...freaking a ball of muscle and once he locked on to something there was no breaking his hold! Also the dedication (diet) and endurance it would take I'm sure would translate to any sport. ps...love the sig too!

  41. The "combat" sports (boxing and amateur/collegiate wrestling) require such varying combinations of skills and levels of conditioning that they immediately translate into many other sports. I played football, baseball, ran track and wrestled in high school and hands down, the most rigorous conditioning was wrestling. We had a wrestler that hadn't played football since maybe 6th grade decide to play his junior year and within a day or two of full contact practice was putting on a clinic in open field/special teams tackling. Same general motions as shooting a leg for a takedown, aside from wrapping and turning instead of coming back to your feet.
