  1. Kaleb Banks chose Indiana because it’s ‘the right place to be in my heart’ https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/kaleb-banks-chose-indiana-because-its-the-right-place-to-be-in-my-heart/

  3. Daily reminder this is about money over proximity to old conference boundaries and football pulls more than basketball.

  5. The two guys I’d love to get to finish off this class are Clowney and Schifino. That would be quite the class, IMO, for a first year coach. Clowney, long and rangy, ideal complement to Duncomb. Banks. A long and skilled three man with the potential to be a well rounded two way player. Schifino. Big time talent and skill. Great size and versatility. Gunn. Good length and potential to get better. Net result, a group of long, agile guys who can run, develop into defenders, have skill etc.

  6. Kansas is a national program with national following. You get a chance to add that to your hoops part of the conference it's an absolute no brainer. Honestly I'm surprised at some of the resistance on Kansas. It would be like telling us to take a hike from the Big 10 for a better part of 20 years minus 3-4 bowl games since Mallory left.

  7. Does anyone actually bring TV markets anymore now that streaming is killing off cable?

  9. From Rivals writer, Matthew Byrne "Indiana definitely shows that hard work will put you on the field and coaches are always pushing their players," Curry said. "Indiana has always talked to me since the day they offered me." Curry has said he can see himself fitting in nicely with the Hoosiers. "Indiana is definitely upping their play style and pushing to play against the top teams in the Big Ten," he said. And what is he looking for in a school and what does he think of Indiana head coach Tom Allen? "I look for coaches that will push me and make me better throughout practice and off the field," Curry said. "He (Allen) definitely takes his coaching to another level with coaching his players with respect, and they are definitely up there."

  10. Cards down a run last night with 2 outs in the 9th. They send Adam Wainwright up as a pinch hitter instead of future HOF Yadier Molina. On a side note, I will be in GABP tonight.

  11. The Big Ten loses if it gets Kansas and Iowa State out of this. No TV markets and mediocre overall athletic programs.

  12. Yeah but is it any worse then what has happened at Penn State, MSU and now Michigan under Bo. If the B1G is going to be all high and mighty they should kick those three teams out.

  14. Let's put it in football terms. Team Virus came on the scene with a new scheme, and they took it to Team Humanity pretty hard. 626,000+ have died in the U.S. to date. 4.17 million have died worldwide. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ Team Virus came in with a new scheme that our team wasn't ready for. They built a nice lead on us. We started to play defense with masking and socially distancing, but that only slowed Team Virus down. They scored early and often. Team Virus has a creative and unpredictable coach. He keeps coming up with new variants of his most effective plays, and they keep driving down the field and scoring more points on our defense. We just can't get off the field on third down. Team Virus keeps converting on opportunities. It took a while, but our guys on the sidelines figured out some things about how Team Virus plays. We've scored some touchdowns with the vaccines in the United States. But if we're going to come from behind to beat Team Virus, we need to play as a team. Everyone needs to know their assignments on defense and execute them, or Team Virus will keep marching down the field. Now, our d-line and most of our front seven have been studying their playbooks and practicing their technique. They are vaccinated, and even mask up if they are in a crowded space indoors with some unvaccinated people present. Team Virus is having trouble running on us now. But our secondary hasn't gotten vaccinated. Our corners and safeties sort of know the playbook, but they decided to play Madden rather than commit everything to memory and practice the plays. They're vulnerable because they haven't been vaccinated. They think, "Hey, I'm athletic. I'll be fine. I kindof know what coach wants us to do on this play..." Right before they bust a coverage and a new variant hits deep. We are never going to stop the virus until people work as a team to deny the virus more chances to mutate and propagate. There are people out there who can't get vaccinated because of problems with their immune system. People who are healthy need to take one for the team and get vaccinated to help get Team Humanity to herd immunity. It's the only way we can win. Otherwise, the virus will continue to spread and mutate and kill. We need more team players.

  16. The two schools I'd like to add are VA and GT. Seems to make the most sense considering geography, academics and athletics. Plus, it would harm the ACC which is realistically our main competition for second place after the SEC.

  17. Sounds like it may have been more of a shot at PJ Fleck. I find it ironic that he used the term sloganeering which sounds like everything he’s speaking against here. I will always remember him as the coach that was supposed to bring Nebraska football back that complained about the conference schedule being too hard. Then the next season he got both IU and PU and lost to both.

  18. Had a former Bama player that is very connected to the program tell me Yasir is a great guy, but never closed recruits. I tried to explain recruiting to IU and Bama is different. Hope this is just the start. Love this commitment.

  20. The B1G already thumbed their nose at ESPN with the B1G network. ESPN has built the SEC into what it is today. They protect and build their product which is good business. All rankings, recruiting rankings, GameDay, and feel-good stories will promote their brand. The BIG controls more markets and has more leverage than the SEC did pre ESPN. I wonder if it will become a 2 conference war for supremacy. The B1G better be proactive and grab Notre Dame and a Texas school for markets, or convince Georgia Tech or Virginia to jump. Kansas also has a national basketball brand. The B1G needs more legit national contenders in football on an annual basis, so some schools need to really step up.(Michigan, Penn State, us:) I also hope Fox Sports gets more aggressive marketing and protecting the B1G brand. We need the same level of slanted reporting and analysis the SEC gets if we ever want to catch up. No more former SEC analysts, and they need to have influence over the other poll for rankings and public perception. Just some random thoughts.

  21. Down here it's about the same. The only people who think Texas is still relevant in football are UT grads and people around Austin. I see much more A&M stuff around here. Some of that is simply the perception of Austin itself as a liberal city in a conservative state. Might seem far fetched, but it's true... It's kinda funny how politics has even affected fandom. A statewide poll a few years ago showed more Democrats favored UT while Republicans favored A&M...

  22. I don't like the conference situation now but a 20 team mega conference? Just no. Can't some things just be left alone? And OSU to the SEC, lol. They dominate the B1G. Why would they leave.

  23. That would be horrible for Indiana at the moment if we are being honest. Yes our football team may be on the rise but would you bet a conference spot on that? And our basketball program has been mediocre at best for 2 decades.

  24. Why not blow up all the conferences and start over and let everyone negotiate and make new conferences. To me conferences are supposed to be regional so you have natural rivalries. Also being regionalized makes for easier travel and keep cost down. Love to see the cost to have Texas goes to play at UF in volleyball

  26. Kansas has i think the third biggest tv market in the Big 12. Their football might suck but the basketball would be a huge addition. Also ISU has a better football team then guite a few teams in the B1G. They kind of mirror the Hoosiers lately, a football team on the rise and a dissapointing basketball team.

  27. So if we go to pods who would be in IUs? OSU, Maryland, Rutgers, Penn St IU, PU, ILL, NW Michigan, MSU, Minnesota, Wisconsin Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa St, Kansas Does this work? Then winner of each POD play in a B1G tournament playoff for B1G championship?

  31. Vandy would not win a football game for the next 20 years with that conference alignment. Not too many wins for Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UK, South Carolina, or Missouri either.

  33. I'd have to see the TV market numbers but the Big 10 would never lose in getting Kansas. Iowa State maybe but they've been to more bowl games and ncaa tournaments than about half of the Big 10 the last decade. Or at least it seems that way. People say what about Colorado because of their proximity to Denver and their TV market. Denver is basically LA. Zero interest in college sports. Pro town only.

  35. Kansas would be great, Iowa State not bad. I have wondered about West Virginia as a potential on occasion. Baylor would be nice, but I am not sure about them, I don’t know much about the school itself if it fits a bigten type model.

  36. I despise their fan base and how they look down on IU. They would be an awesome addition, but if they got left out to dry, it would be kind of hilarious.

  37. I actually wouldn't mind them joining the B1G and the Hoosiers developing a rivalry with them. I think if this all does play out they are pretty much a shoo-in to join the B1G.
