  1. I’m not a mod but I would lock a recruiting thread after 72 hours or a week tops once they committed somewhere else. If people still want to talk about them they can do it in the general 22 recruiting thread. But that’s just me! Rest of us will just keep bumping the recruits left to the top.

  2. I checked on that update. It looks like it’s some documentary about how Nebraska saved Big Ten football last year.

  4. Do we no longer include herd immunity in these conversations? Why is the narrative now 100% vaccination for all? Im scheduled for an antibody test tomorrow at kroger pharmacy for $25. My mom is facing a vaccine or job situation, working for a Louisville hospital from the safe confines of her home. My toddlers preschool teachers at a local Hamilton county Christian church were faced with the same choice. As many have been pointing out, school age children are far more likely to succumb to random accidents than they are covid. If i have antibodies, i will not get the vaccine anytime soon. Ive explained here before a possible family correlation to severe vaccine reaction in my grandfather. My mom is literally petrified of the vaccine, far more than she is of covid. From my readings, it seems the moderna would be the one of forced choice if it comes to it. So sad that in the free world of the united states of America, the government and massive corporations now have control over our medical decisions. I remember when this was warned about and its now on our door step.

  5. Want to know why people are fed up with all that is going on policy wise? Lollapalooza went on without a word, but Sturgis was called a super spreader. The hypocrisy and lack of consistency put us where we are.

  6. I'm not anti vax. Ive made that clear. Im 100% against forced vax and show me your papers for services. We may have had excessive deaths with covid but there is a segment of the population that when push comes to shove, they will shoot. Im not one, i dont even carry. I know where to go though if it hits the fan. Thats the world Im afraid of heading to. Im afraid thats the direction this thing goes if everyone, yes in my opinion and from my seat in the bleachers, goes willy nilly about it without little questioning or resistance if necessary. Its not conspiracy theory anymore when it is actually happening. Speaking of my seat in the bleachers. I'm just north of downtown. We had never been so slow in years. City wide run loads were down massively. Eskinazi and Methodist set up covid tents. They were for show and worst case scenario, they did not get used. Aside from a few floors, the hospitals and grounds were ghost towns. Last I checked the average age of death from or with covid was 78, really super close to the national average typical life expectancy. And we destroyed livlihoods for that and the massive corporations got filthier richer. Too go along with my concerns about government and corporate overreach into personal health decisions. What's next?

  10. Breakthrough Infections, Hospitalizations, and Deaths - some numbers In IN vaccinated people made up 0.7% of Coved hospitalizations, BUT 4.7% of deaths. That first number is amazing, but the second not so much. A table further down shows that you are 57 times more likely to be hospitalized for COVID if you are unvaccinated in Indiana. Breakthrough infections are definitely happening, especially where the virus is allowed to rage unchecked. But I would take the vaccine over not. One thing we are seeing locally is a lot of younger, healthier people coming in to our system with severe Covid symptomes.. And over 99% of these are unvaccinated. It’s been incredibly rare for us to have a vaccinated case needing hospitalization. We also are leading a massive new NIH study on long haul COVID. We found in our own internal numbers that recovery for many people is proving to be elusive. To me that’s the big selling point of protecting yourself and others around you. Sure, you might get it, feel crappy, but recover. However, lots of people are having severe chronic health issues six months or a year later. Really wish that we didn’t need this thread anymore. It’s kind of bullshit that we still have to talk about this.

  18. Yeah, and I'm the cause for this one. For that, my apologies...sometimes things are just teed up too well. Hopefully, Jalen doesn't hold a humor sidebar against us as there's no question, he is the target for IU in 2022. I'll try to stay mostly on point going forward.

  19. This might be more of an indictment of the rankings than development. We also don't really know the full extent of attitude and health of players. Obviously you want your highest rated recruits to pan out, but if they are overrated or they are under-scouted (taken because of the rating) you're going to see some flops/transfers especially when overall recruiting improves. But it is weird how IU's higher guys don't seem to live up to their rankings. But that might be why they end up at IU to begin with.

  30. If OSU or Michigan ever would leave it would be to the SEC before the ACC. The B1G better not sit around and do nothing or they will get left behind. The funny thing is if something like this ever did happen Michigan would be just like Texas joining the SEC. A big money football brand but a low budget Dollar Tree on the field.

  31. Perhaps I don’t understand this correctly, but it continues to amaze how fans do not understand why certain universities are attractive to other conferences. It always turns into a pissing contest about who has the football program with the best results. In no particular order, it seems like the criteria for the Big Ten it comes down to the following… - respectable academics - the market the school is in - the VALUE of the sports programs Recent results do not necessarily = value. Texas is valuable to the SEC, not because of their recent results - it’s their huge and dedicated fan base and the entire Texas market. Many of those comments laugh at Michigan, but they have one of the biggest and most loyal fan bases in the country. It’s all about getting viewers for the conference’s network. And we haven’t gotten into the size of the alumni bases where the B1G pretty much owns all top ten lists. Example: https://www.universitymagazine.ca/10-biggest-college-alumni-networks-u-s/ These Mizzou fans (and other commenters) think conferences are looking for schools who can bark loud with recent results. Unfortunately in many cases, these schools don’t necessarily have the numbers (in terms of following) or revenue generation to back up that bark.

  32. I got out of teaching, so I'm not as much help on this as I used to be. I will say that the idea of a teacher being able to Zoom in and do as good of a job as an in person teacher is ludicrous. Unfortunately the people who are (air quotes) "concerned about their safety" make it much tougher for the people who actually are concerned about their safety.

  34. It's an excellent place. Impressive home field for Memorial. I enjoyed it. Take out Lindeur that would have been an excellent game 3 years ago. He's the best player we've ever played against. They could have featured him even more like Mater Dei did for Schiff. Zero chance there is many better from Evansville. Patrick Mallory was a boss too.

  35. I know! They were talking about him a decent amount during the broadcast. Franschilla was talking about how Langford needs to find something to hang his hat on in the NBA. Right now he's just somewhat average at a couple things, but not really good at any one thing. Compared to a guy like Aaron Nesmith who is a similar place in the league, but as a role player Nesmith is a great shooter and can build a career around that.

  36. Hey, it’s home to us (Even though we can definitely build a football stadium, but the administration doesn’t want too), but Enlow Field is a classic one. Hope we have another rematch at some point 👀

  38. Masks should be enforced if they want to go to school. Comparing this to driving a car or STDs is just insanely stupid. STDs don't get transmitted through the air so trying to make that comparison is a complete joke. We will never agree on this so go on being you but I actually would like to keep people safe, especially the unvaccinated.
