  1. This came to my mind when I read his name😂

  2. I probably didn't write that very well. My post was meant to mean it is nice to have a coach getting IU into the kids top 4 as opposed to what I feel was happening previously with some of our coaches where IU's brand was getting our coach into a top 4 (but the coach not able to close the deal). I think we have an excellent shot at closing the deal! If Woody can get kids excited to come and visit(and that excitement will only grow with success on the floor)....Bloomington will help us close the deal when they visit.

  3. I just have a good feeling about this one. I feel we dominate this game and open the eyes of the rest of college football that might still be sleeping on the Hoosiers.

  6. Where did anyone try to "debunk" climate change? @FKIM01 said "I got news for you, peeps...the climate has been changing since the dawn of time." And I agreed with him. That certainly doesn't sound like he's trying to " debunk" anything. My point on weather was, if you use today as a baseline for predicting weather, you can be pretty accurate. The farther you get away from that baseline into the future, the less accurate your going to be predicting the weather and subsequently the overall climate. That's a fact. I said my 2 issues with the whole thing are people who have no background in science saying if we don't address climate change, the world will end in 12 year. I might expect something like that from a cult leader or a carnival barker, but not someone who is supposed to be a leader in this country. Using scare language like that is irresponsible and dangerous. My other point was the climate accord we reentered. China is the world's leading producer of CO2 gas. Yet we're supposed to comply with with requirements and suffer burdensome regulations years before they do. It puts the US at a disadvantage both economically and militarily. And I think it's a dangerous time to do that. Giving China a 10 year head start on compliance is simply stupid. Of course, by the time that 10 year period is over Mother Earth only has 2 years to go anyway...

  7. Yeah man I want an IU football jersey in the worst way and it just isn't out there to be found. The only IU football jerseys I own are from the Cam Cameron era and um, they don't fit so good nowadays. LOL

  8. Looking forward to watching some IU soccer this year. A freshmen on the team is from my town in PA! I went to HS and college with his uncle.

  9. Took an unofficial to IU yesterday, plays at Bloomington North and plays for Indiana Elite. Unranked for class of 2023 but has offers from IUPUI, Bradley, NIU, Miami OH, ISU, Akron, Stetson and Umass based off his Instagram. No offer from us but could be something to keep an eye on. 6'6 PF.

  11. Study says over 80% of Americans 16 and older have some level of immunity against Covid. https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/02/health/us-coronavirus-thursday/index.html More than 80% of Americans 16 and older have some level of immunity against the coronavirus, mostly through vaccination, a survey of blood donations indicates. The survey, led by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also indicates that about twice as many people have been infected with the virus as have been officially counted. More than 39 million Americans have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection since the pandemic started in 2020. The team, led by the CDC's Dr. Jefferson Jones, set out to determine how close the US might be to some kind of herd immunity -- although they do not claim to have any kind of handle on that yet. They worked with 17 blood collection organizations working in all 50 states plus Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico to test blood covering 74% of the population. In the end, they tested about 1.4 million samples. In July 2020, before any vaccine was available, 3.5% of samples carried antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. That rose to 11.5% by December, they reported in the medical journal JAMA. By May, 83.3% of samples had antibodies to the virus, most of them from vaccination. And while in July 2020, blood surveillance indicated the US was only counting one infection out of every three true infections, that fell to one in two a year later. This was all pre-Delta, the researchers caution. Plus, they didn't measure the other part of the human response -- one involving cells known as T-cells -- and one that might induce broader immunity. But knowing who has antibodies can help inform public health efforts. "Several large studies have shown that among individuals who are seropositive from prior SARS-CoV-2 infection, COVID-19 incidence is reduced by 80% to 95%, similar to vaccine efficacy estimates," they noted. "The study will continue until at least December 2021, and results will be made available on the CDC's website," they wrote.

  12. Whole point of a vaccine is to produce an antibody reaction to help prevent future infection. If you already have the antibody it seems this is a moot point. Now that it's shown that the vaccine doesn't prevent infection and/or transmission (just greatly reduces serious hospitalization) well this seems a disingenuous policy. Sorry to hear that. A lot of bad policies going around as a result of this virus.

  14. As opposed to IU getting in the top 4 but the coach is why he isn't coming there. Wow...we just get some success on the court and match up a coach with our brand and I can't wait to see where recruiting goes!

  16. If "Scientific evidence for warming of the climate system is unequivocal", how do you explain this- https://strangesounds.org/2021/08/next-20-30-years-will-be-cold-and-thats-worst-than-global-warming-climate-scientist-warns.html ? If global warming supports more food creation, is it even a bad thing? I could go on forever here. Having been to Alaska and Glacier National Park, I have an interest in the glaciers and seeing more of them. My next big trip is hopefully to Iceland in a few years. Lets remember https://weather.com/science/environment/video/glacier-national-park-swaps-out-signs-predicting-no-glaciers-by-2020. Yes, some glaciers are retreating, but others are growing. Retreating glaciers are uncovering ancient forests so we know this isn't a new phenomenon. Polar bears are thriving, not dying, etc. Both sides have ample "evidence" to support their conclusions as one can twist the stats to support any narrative, or just change the data, to fit that narrative. This trip down memory lane shows a bunch of examples of failed past projections which is why many are doubtful of the latest dire projection of the day- https://cei.org/blog/wrong-again-50-years-of-failed-eco-pocalyptic-predictions/ As much as I would love to debate this topic, lets save the climate debate for another thread, or private messages, and keep this one focused on the (micro climate) weather events. Thanks!

  17. You hit the nail on the head…..This kinda public, opinionated stuff is specifically why I don’t follow Facebook or the likes. I choose this board as my only social media because it’s anything IU 24/7. On top of that, for the mass majority of us, we’re all friends on here with a common interest …….Indiana University.

  21. One nice thing about our board is that we don't get a lot of people from other fanbases. They can sometimes be alright, but reading the Iowa fans on the IU Rivals board makes me want to beat them even more. So arrogant.

  22. Nice build already for a Sophomore in HS. Smart for IU to get him on campus early in case he blows up in the coming months which is very possible especially since he's from right there in IU's backyard.

  23. Kinda funny.......I was looking over on Rivals, HawkeyeReport football message board and their hottest topic is the upcoming game versus Iowa St. There are 8 pages about that game. The two IU/Iowa pregame threads have been pushed to the bottom with only 4 and 5 pages. I hope they're over looking us........cause we aren't them! GO IU!

  24. Yep...injuries make a huge difference. Always say it's not really who you play but when you play them sometimes. I don't think the Bucs were the best team last year...but they were healthy and playing well when the other top teams kind of hit the wall.

  29. And this is where most games are won and lost. I'm not totally going to concede both to them but their history of developing and being very strong here. Hopefully we have closed the gap or perhaps able to win our share of matchups to make the difference.

  32. I am of the firm belief that the weather is cyclical. Now determining how these cycles work is anybody's guess as of now that is why I alluded to documentation above. History of weather events in this country, or the world for that matter, is relatively "young." How do we know that the same thing happening with the climate now didn't happen 500 years ago? 1000 year ago? Etc. It does make for great discussion and tbh I am fascinated by it. I can tell you this first hand as an avid icefisherman. It was only 8 years ago that I was drilling through the most ice I had ever seen around here. Lake Wawasee was a parking lot with trucks parked on it a day I fished. I had to cut through 36"s to get a hook in the water. At the time I said "global warming my ass." Remember the global warming rhetoric from just a few short years ago? Now it has morphed into climate change. I got a few more things I could add dealing with this "crisis" but it will probably get us(me) onto a different tangent.

  33. They did lose some, but they still return one of the best linemen in all of college football. That, and their track record put them decently ahead of us. We should have a better line than last year, but that isn't saying much until they show how much improvement they've made.

  34. Getting a vaccine or not getting a vaccine has nothing to do with them being selfish. Also has zero to do with them being a good teammate. There's about 100 things else I could say here. But yeah, terrible take by you.

  38. A long period of time, where as if we are talking about the weather on a given day or forecasting weather 10 days out, that's a short period of time. Climate would be like saying IU is one of the the best 5 or so programs in the history of basketball. Weather would be like saying they're one of the worst because of how the past couple seasons has gone. People that think they can debunk climate change by talking about the weather would be like someone who said Duke is a crappy program (climate) because they had a bad year last year.

  40. I remember 2 years ago, there were threads on IU sites asking when Allen would be fired, and threads on PU sites saying Brohm was the 2nd coming. That was just 2 years ago. Crazy how much changed in a little over 700 days.

  41. Yeah, I'll never excuse Sosa, but for a Cardinal fan, who employed one of the most despicable players ever, Mark McGwire, that's kinda funny... The display he put on with the Maris family after he had stolen Roger's legacy was nauseating...

  42. With mask mandates returning, let's revisit the science. The largest Random Controlled Trial (gold standard of research) on masks and covid to date - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33205991/ The study found that 1.8 percent of those in the mask group and 2.1 percent of those in the control group became infected with Covid-19 within a month, with this 0.3-point difference not being statistically significant. This study is with SURGICAL masks. Very few are wearing these today. Personally, I'm lucky enough to have access to good quality medical, but not surgical quality, masks. What about cloth masks? A cloth mask “may potentially increase the infection risk” for health-care workers. “The virus may survive on the surface of the facemasks,” they explain, while “a contaminated cloth mask may transfer pathogen from the mask to the bare hands of the wearer,” which could lead to hand hygiene being “compromised.”

  43. IU won their game last night 1-0 against Butler. We rested like 3 starters including Bezerra, but it appears our defense is a little shaky, but showed some improvement last night. On to the next !

  44. It used to be simple. Science had a scientific method we all learned. Now science is used and manipulated to provide a rationale for ones beliefs. Scientists are recruited to sign on to paper that can be used as evidence and dissenting voices are squashed. What good is science when a scientist cannot propose a hypothesis? I know some people have their head stuck in the sand and believe this couldn't happen, or isn't happening. But it is. As "science" changed, that meant weather was sure to follow. Much easier to blame the weather for a forest fire than admit to forest mismanagement.
