Echoing a point earlier: this thread has largely been very civil and, indeed, we clearly have quite a range of views here. Thank you - it makes our jobs easier. as a moderating team, we have had more than a few discussions about this thread. It’s almost been locked a few times. Maybe I’m naive, but I like to think that people can listen and engage in meaningful discussion about tough issues. Please continue to post in good faith, respect each other, and find opportunities to work in jokes about Purdue. Did it make you feel any safer knowing no unvaccinated people was there? Not sure I understand the purpose of this policy since we know vaccinated people are getting covid and can spread it and have just as high viral loads as unvaccinated. What is the policy there to do? I also wonder do you think this policy is racist? Since black people by percentage are more likely not to be vaccinated and would be disproportionately affected by this policy. I seem to remember hearing that voter ID laws were unconstitutional because it would disproportionally effect black people who it is claimed they are much less likely to have an ID because of their social and economical situation. I just find this stuff fascinating.

Comparing small pox which killed roughly 30% of the people that got it to Covid 19 that kills roughly .5% is like comparing apples to oranges. Not a good example in my view. I suspect that the Supreme Court in 2021 will look quite differently at this then 1905. The Supreme Court also ruled in 1927 in Buck vs Bell it was ok to sterilize a young women because her offspring would be a burden on public welfare which led to over 60,000 forced sterilizations (many many suspect and racially motivated). Doesn't mean a more modern court would still rule the same way considering the threat of Covid to most people is basically the equivilant of a bad cold. I think vaccines are wonderful, including thankful for this one which has saved many lives. But eliminating someone's right to work...seems a bit extreme. I'm sure it is all going to the courts so we will just see how it plays out.

That was very considerate of you. I'm sure she welcomed your hospitality that you would go out of your way to assist her and hear out her concerns. We all need to be willing to listen and have considerate discussions on important matters and I appreciate how very civil this board is on such a hot button topic. That said the new mandate there is no exemptions for federal employees and contractors of federal employees. So that is quite different. (well maybe unless you are in a Union like USPS then COVID doesn't matter) As for those families...factually it doesn't matter what they think. Facts don't have feelings. COVID is not even close to being comparable to Smallpox....so while I share in their pain (I too have had extended family lost to this virus I'm not going to pretend that COVID is even in the realm of deadliness like Smallpox). So I stand by my statement. Agree....I hate anyone is dying...which is why it bugs the crap out of me there isn't more talk about theraputics and work into developing more safe and effective ways to save lives. Why when people test positive they aren't sent for treatment right away and often are told to go home and go to the hospital if it gets worse and not told about things like Regeneron and other therapies that have reduced hospitalization and death by over 70%.

I honestly believe this is another master stroke by Dolson/Matta/Woodson... In future years, when recruits see 25 wins in 2021-22, they won't care about who those wins were against. They'll know Coach Woody was the coach and proved he could win at the collegiate level, which is really the only unchecked box in his tenure so far at IU. As the years go on, we'll have a better schedule as we get more prime recruits...and the win total will take care of itself...

And I should be clear when I say “hissy fit” I’m talking about the politicians and paid hacks on social media. Not targeting anyone here. I know I disagree on this topic with several on here, but respect them too much to trash them like that. I’m just exhausted by all the posturing and outrage on social media. To me, it’s a carrot and a stick thing. Vaccinations are for the greater good of society. They work better with more people vaccinated. If people don’t want to get vaccinated, then fine. But there may be repercussions and restrictions. If people want to participate fully in society, then get vaccinated. I keep saying this. I didn’t want a dozen vaccines in boot camp that I knew I wouldn’t need, but I got them. I have had and do have some reservations about the topic when it comes to race. There are serious historical issues to consider with Tusjkeegee, etc. But not enough reservations in my mind to exclude an entire race of people from being vaccinated. One thing to note, I have around 50 employees and faculty I’m responsible for. One of them is unvaccinated. She happens to be black. We have discussed this multiple times and she and I don’t agree on the topic. However, I did help her get her medical exemption and will help her navigate policy changes moving forward. I’m honestly just sick of arguing about it. If people don’t want to wear masks/get vaccinated, fine. But I have very little to no sympathy for their complaining and arguing about it. I’m more concerned about over 1,500 Americans dying every day from COVID when we couldn’t have been largely past this.

I missed the play. He's of course a little biased because he was a receiver, but listening to Keyshawn Johnson this morning he did not think it was offensive PI, and he felt it was a good no call. He said they were both fighting for position and he felt that Godwin did not extend to push off, etc. Both he and Jay Williams also thought the defender flopped in a way that actually was so fake that it cost him. Not saying that is gospel, just what they said this morning.

Anybody questioning the no call on Goodwin on that last catch? He sure extended his arm on the defender pushing off before turning and catching the pass. 15 yard penalty there could have changed the outcome. Very fortunate not to get a call.

I think you're confusing beating the spread with actually winning the game. We could win 42-14 and Idaho would beat the spread. Losing this game would be a colossal failure on our part and would wipe out a good chunk of the momentum we built up the last two years.

We do play a bunch of teams who will be ranked…they’re called Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois, Purdue, etc., etc. Syracuse and Notre Dame may very well be ranked at some point as well. Just give it a chance. From everything shown thus far the program is in excellent hands between CMW and staff, and Dolsen. Why make waves when they don’t need to be made?

If you look at Bart Torvik's projections for our Non-Con opponents for this year and compare it to the Non-Con SOS from 2020, we would've been tied for 77th, which is almost the same as what IU's 2020 Non-Con SOS was ranked (70th). NIU, Eastern Mich, and UNC Asheville are the only teams he projects to be outside the top 200. There really aren't a lot of true cupcakes on the schedule, even if we don't have as many top end opponents.

I disagree because it seems like we upgraded the cupcake part of the schedule. Most of these teams are from descent conferences and have been good teams in the past. N. Kentucky and Marshall are pretty good teams.

Yeah the kid was comparing himself to Antonio Gates....I think he needs to prove himself a little more than the Seattle practice squad before he starts those comparisons lol. Didn't come off very humble in his interviews.
