Clif should have foreseen his commitment to IU and prevented this while he was at S Florida.7 points

I want to be very careful here, I don't mean this to criticize the people that bring info to the board, and I hope all of those people continue to post as always. With that said, I challenge the premise that we actually have "insiders". By no means am I saying those guys are lying or anything like that, I believe they hear things, etc., I just don't think those things are all that real or close to the actual team. I share this every now and then, but when I was in the Celtics PR Department it was at the advant of fan websites, blogs and forums. So part of my job was to monitor that stuff, and I would literally gather around my desk with co-workers every so often and laugh out loud at what the so-called "insiders" on those sites were posting as if it was fact. Again, I love our posters that bring info, and I believe many of them have some type of connections and hear things, but I think those things are much more removed from what is really happening. It's like the telephone game and guys are pretty far down the line.6 points

I challenge this entire premise, insiders should not have some magical shield that makes them immune to criticism. we had people telling us for weeks Clowney was going to IU. Yes, he’s a high school kid and high school kids change their minds. but when you make definitive statements, while knowing these are high school kids, you are setting yourself up for criticism. It is what it is, no one knows the full story but if you pass on wrong information it’s going to get called out regardless of what led to your info being wrong. Obviously no one needs to go for the throat and be an asshole about it, but if you attach your name to definitive statements as an insider, I don’t think it’s fair to expect no one to question you when it doesn’t hit.4 points

No one makes people get on this board. If you don’t want to hear the scoop, don’t get on. Stop complaining about the information that is shared on here.4 points

Lingering knee issue. They are being cautious with him so he will be healthy for more important games later on in the season4 points

They aren’t giving their opinion. They are relaying information that they are hearing from whatever source that they have that may be within or near the program. And they do this month(s) in advance not two days before. If people can’t handle the speculations, they shouldn’t be on the recruiting forum reading anything that doesn’t say committed to their names. If we can’t handle the misses maybe we should wait for the crystal ball predictions to come out. People also complain that the crystal ball predictions don’t come until a day of or hours before. Which is it? I don’t want others ruining ruining what I enjoy, which is coming on here and looking at the talk and rumors of recruits. People have been chased away before.3 points

Of course. Everybody is feeding from the same source here...Rabjohns. No surprise the sentiment is the same. Some of the same posters too, so there's a ton of groupthink going on here. Doesn't mean it's wrong...just means that different forums really aren't different sources here.2 points

We need CoachSS to come back and give us the real inside info 😜.2 points

This was one of those ones where we had to get the verbal during the visit. Once he left our chances went way down.2 points

I didn’t watch intently because I had other projects, but from what I saw: McCulley. Best news of the day is he showed a lot of promise. He threw for darn near 10 ypa. That is off the charts. No interceptions, which is basically remarkable for his age. Very live arm. Just wait as he gains about 25 lbs and improves his anticipation and accuracy. I do not want to take McFadden for granted. He is phenomenal. Devon Matthews is also big time. Great football player. Hendershot was tough and competitive. Great asset. I noticed Malachi Holt Bennett out there at receiver. I’m glad we are getting some younger receivers out there. Hopefully there’s a lot more coming. 55 yard field goal was awesome. Handy and Anderson are pretty active. Handy is a younger guy so there’s upside. But guys like Bryant and Head haven’t stepped up as they’ve gotten more experienced. We don’t have enough juice up front. Carpenter upgraded the O line. He kicked his man out nicely to spring Carr free on that big TD run. By the way, Carr showed what he can do if you give him blocking. I wonder if we see more action for younger guys like Sales as we preserve the redshirt. We need to improve both lines. Yes there are bright spots but I hope we hit the portal hard on both sides.2 points

I don't feel bad for them. Cincinnati really isn't helping their case as much as they should if they're really a CFP team. Everybody knows we had them on the ropes until the targeting call, and they've really struggled against horrible Navy and Tulsa teams the last 2 weeks. If they were routinely beating teams by 40+ they'd easily be in. They just aren't passing the optics test lately.2 points

I'm torn. I don't mind arrogance but agree on the pricks part. Not many likeable guys on that team.2 points

We have an very experienced team! I don’t really understand how we can be this bad! I understand we have had some injuries, but damn we’re bad! I see us wining one more game Rutgers. I am afraid we will start losing recruits an transfers! Just a feeling, because something is off the rails.2 points

I think the problem comes from speaking in absolutes. Recruiting is fluid, things can change, etc., but the burden of that disclaimer shouldn't fall on the reader. We're all screen names on here, with no reason to trust each other except by what gets said on these boards. If someone states a recruit is definitely coming here, and that doesn't happen, I have less trust in that person. I've read a lot that this is an unfair response; to me it's the only natural and expected reaction. I read these boards to hear what people have to say, I like reading the hot gossip. But if you don't want pushback, couch your language. Make it clear this is what you're hearing at the time, and not definitively what will happen. Maybe it seems obvious to those sharing info, and therefore such framing should be unnecessary, but consider the reader who trusts you, and the disappointment anyone would feel when your assertion proves false.1 point

So how does regular people have this info. It is how these guys co.e off as having all of these sources and I just don't believe it1 point

They definitely have good sources but things change. When they were expecting an early October commitment and that had long passed that should've been the first clue that we weren't getting him.1 point

I rather recruiting goes back to the way it use to be when you found out your recruiting class on signing day. I need to stop listening to so called insiders because they probably don't have that much of inside sources1 point

...and there's always the last visit thing. Who knows. I don't sweat recruits either way anymore, but I'm contemplating ignoring threads in this forum section (unless they say committed) and going back to the old days when we only knew about recruiting battles after they were over. Feels like I'd waste a lot less time that way since I'd only go back and read about players who signed at IU.1 point

Yeah, I dont feel bad for them either. Imagine if UC' conference schedule included OSU, PSU, Michigan, MSU, Iowa, etc., and Indiana's included Tulsa, Temple, Navy, Tulane, ECU, etc. IU would easily be a top 25 team with a bowl locked up, while UC would be fighting to make a bowl game. In college sports the schedule matters a lot.1 point

He will be very busy evaluating his coaching staff as well. It took only 2 years with DeBord and CTA made the change. It was a needed departure agreed on by both parties. This is Sheridan’s second year as well with no improvement. The writing is on the wall.1 point
