  4. I'm thankful for the job I have now. Started 15Feb21. Without this job I wouldn't have the time I needed this year to be there for family. I'm very fortunate, I work 136 days a year. I have a weekend day shift job so I sacrifice my weekends but its worth it. My wife is self employed massage therapist so she can match my schedule. Took over a decade to get to this but life is good.

  5. Happy Thanksgiving y’all. I’m thankful that Brad Stevens was rumored as our new coach, and therefore I found this message board. This season has been a blast so far watching this team grow and reading y’all bitch. 😜 Along with some great insight, opinions, and thoughts. 😀 PS: wasn’t real sure where to park this post

  6. Weird stats. Both teams shot over 50% overall but were combined 9-36 from three and 20-39 on FTs

  10. All games are meaningful. Big Ten results aside, do you think our stats would be this good if we would have lost to someone like, oh, Fort Wayne? Sure, the schedule gets tougher and the numbers will change. But, I doubt there was a single game under Crean or Miller that was as good defensively as this opening 5 game stretch has been for Woody. As far as Phin vs. Lander, Jackson State is not included in the original post. But, if you want to see a more balanced comparison of 'like' opponents, look at last year's stats in the original post. Lander 'wins' the comparison over a full season. I'm not saying that Lander is, or isn't, a better defender. But maybe, based on this metrics, the gap isn't as wide as the chatter makes it out to be.

  13. The progress that this program has made in the last few years is nothing short of amazing. They are now a legitimate national power. So proud of what they have done and what is still possible.

  15. Must get! Kid is only going to get bigger too! 6’7 already and father mentioned him still growing potentially. Could get a 6’9-6’10 wing by the time he’s done growing. Very well put together already, great shot!

  16. When: Saturday, November 27th 7:00 PM EST Where: Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, Bloomington, Indiana TV: BTN The Thundering Herd, led by Dan D'Antoni, older brother of former NBA coach, Mike D'Antoni, are 4-1 this year. Notice their last 2 games are against our last 2 opponents... They are an experienced team with some size... Picked 4th in Conference USA Outlook: A strangely satisfying occurrence in college sports: when a team’s style fits its mascot. With the introduction of Dan D’Antoni as head coach back in 2014, Marshall basketball entered this hallowed territory, as his mega up-tempo style elicits imagery of a herd of buffalo thundering down the plains. And though the style is unquestionably entertaining, the best part for Marshall fans is that it has led to consistent winning, as D’Antoni has racked up six straight over-.500 seasons while finishing in the top half of C-USA. To truly represent the size of buffaloes on the court, D’Antoni would need to recall monster big man Iran Bennett from Eastern Kentucky, but “thundering” may still be the best word to describe Taevion Kinsey’s rim-rocking dunks. He’s the best athlete in the conference, and a quick sort of BartTorvik’s dunk leaderboard last year shows Kinsey as the only non-post player in the top 15 – and the only player under 6’7 in the top 25: Bottom Line: With Kinsey and Taylor at the helm, Marshall’s transition-heavy offense will remain quite difficult to defend, and watch out for breakout years for sophomores Early and Anochili-Killen. D’Antoni has found a style that can win consistently, and he’s recruited to that specific system with athletic wings and mobile big men. I have some slight concerns that Marshall may be one guard short, preventing them from entering tier 1 here, but another top half finish seems to be a near-certainty.

  17. The rumor unfortunately seems to make the most sense. LeBron has been heckled a lot in his career and heard a lot of things and never done that; if it was racial, others would have reacted (Russ was right there).

  20. Phin played 3 times as many minutes (as you point out) and a disproportionate amount of KL’s minutes were mop-up minutes. I’m not making the point to disparage KL but just pointing out that the comparative stats aren’t a good measurement. At the risk of sounding like one of your ex-wives…I disagree about KL’s D. Defensively KL had a very difficult time staying in front of guys last year but has greatly improved this year.

  22. I'm thankful to be alive. With all of my health problems (runs in the family) I never thought I'd see 70. Well....today is the day. I made it. Now....on to more enjoying IU BBall and time I have left (hopefully another 10-15 years).

  23. Last year Lander barely played in half of the BT games so I don’t think that is a good comparison either. Taking stats out of the equation, and who played against which teams, Lander looked overmatched/lost on D last year but is looking much better this year which is, of course, a really good sign/trajectory. His pace/vision/speed is fun to watch and he will be firmly in the rotation if his D continues to improve, he hits some shots and cuts down on TO’s. He is young with a lot of upside.

  24. I said that the D looks much better to me, than in the past, and that I will be stunned if Woodys full year numbers aren’t better than Archie’s and Creans last years. While I agree with you that all games are “meaningful” there is no way that Woodys 5 home games stats are a good comparison to a full season that includes BT road games.

  25. That's almost every home game when the opponent has a superstar....I went to Lakers/Pacer games back when it was Reggie and Kobe....there were more Kobe jersey's then Miller ones. Just the way the NBA is. People are just as much fan's of players as teams. I'm sure there was a ton of Lebron fans there.....well there were two non-Lebron fans there but they got kicked out...and perhaps rightfully so...not sure what they said.

  26. These stats will be interesting as the season progresses but it is way too premature, as pointed out above, to compare Woodys season-to-date stats vs Archie and Crean full seasons. To be fair the Archie and Crean stats include complete Big Ten seasons while Woodys only consist of 5 home games with 3 of the teams being marshmallow, cupcake pushovers. That being said, the defense looks terrific and I will be stunned if the full season Woody numbers aren’t better than the Crean and Archie seasons listed above. In regards to Rob vs KL I agree that Rob has not progressed, still pounds the ball into the floor, and that KL may be our future, but at this point their comparative stats are apples and oranges. KL played a total of 7 minutes against our 2 toughest opponents (EMU and St John’s) while Rob did not play at all against the two easiest opponents (LouL and Jackson State). The stats will “reveal the truth” as the season progresses but at this point Rob and KL have essentially faced completely different teams. EDIT: PS, Rob is 4-16 from the field…oof

  31. Wait lol.. If Allen wins two conference championships in 4 years... you won't be happy with that? What honestly is that comment? Crean/Allen comparisons... who has EVER compared those two? If your answer is Peegs or some ridiculous forum like that just save it. Tom Crean is a darn good basketball coach btw.

  32. When Wilson was let go, and when Glass still ran the show, I mailed assistant Dolson suggesting they go after Fickel. Oh well. Too late. I'm afraid the Crean/Allen comparisons might be more accurate than we would like. Those criticizing Dolson apparently have forgotten he pulled the plug on Miller,..got Woodson and even managed to get the General back inside Assembly Hall.

  33. Happy Thanksgiving! We're punting turkey dinner to next week because a client of my wife's is making us dinner. They have no kids and are the kind of people that won't take no for an answer. I'm thankful for them and anyone who has helped in life. We don't make through alone. I just hope one day to be in a position to help others more than the small ways I can.

  37. It's worth noting that I just picked up Moore after Week 9 and I have Amari Cooper on the roster as well. D. Johnson plays every week he's healthy, regardless of whether it's Ben or Mason Rudolph. He's going to get 10+ targets most weeks. So, while the argument can be made that I could/should have played Moore over Mooney based on recent performance, I was hoping to take advantage of Fields' continued improvement and A. Robinson being out for a big week from Mooney. And, I got that big week from Mooney. Week 7-10 (Moore) Week 7-10 (D. Johnson) Week 7-10 (Mooney)
