  1. I'm just glad we moved on. Every program on the rise takes a step backwards. I think @Leathernecks said it best a few weeks ago. Good stocks don't always go up. Get this hire right, get healthy and we can be on upward trend again next year.

  2. I ended up spending way too much time putting this together, so I hope everyone can appreciate it. ToP can be a flawed metric. Here's IU's drives from the Rutgers game followed by Rutgers starting position (for the first half). This is only one game, sure, but it clearly illustrates the offense setting the defense up for failure: 1 play - fumble, Rutgers starts next drive at IU 21, scores TD 10 plays - Missed fg, Rutgers 21 3 plays - punt, Rutgers 30, scores TD 3 plays - punt, Rutgers 28 1 play - interception, IU 24, scores Field goal 10 plays - interception, Rutgers 2 3 plays - punt, Rutgers 3 6 plays - fumble, Rutgers 45 7 plays - FG (only points of game) Halftime: Despite 3 three-and-outs and FOUR turnovers, the halftime score is 17-3 Rutgers. For those keeping score, that's 2 drives out of 9 where IU didn't either give the ball right back after three plays or turn it over, and only 4 of 9 drives lasted longer than three plays. 2 of 9 drives were literally only one play. Of it's three scoring drives, Rutgers started two essentially in the red zone. 3 plays - punt 5 plays - punt 6 plays - TOD 3 plays - punt 3 plays - punt 12 plays - TOD 3 plays - Fumble Rutgers' three touchdowns in the second half came on a muffed punt that saw them starting at the IU 10, a TD drive that started at the IU 39, and a TD drive that started at the Rutgers 47. Again, for those keeping score, Rutgers scored on drives starting at: IU 21 Rutgers 30 IU 24 IU 10 IU 39 Rutgers 47 4 of 6 scoring drives started on IU's side of the field. Literally HALF of Rutgers scoring drives started, for all intents and purposes, in the red zone, and only 7 points came on a drive longer than 53 yards. Show me a defense outside of Georgia that's going to come out of that game looking "good."

  6. When: Tuesday, November 30th 7:00 PM EST Where: Carrier Dome, Syracuse NY TV: ESPN2 Syracuse so far is 3-3 under HoF Coach Jim Boeheim...Coming off of a 18-10 (9-7 in ACC play) and an NCAA Tournament appearance where they lost to Houston in their Sweet 16 game...They return 2 starters from that team in F Buddy Boeheim and G Joe Girard... Results do far... G Opponent Conf Tm Opp OT W L 1 Lafayette Patriot W 97 63 1 0 2 Drexel CAA W 75 60 2 0 3 Colgate Patriot L 85 100 2 1 4 N Virginia Commonwealth A-10 L 55 67 2 2 5 N Arizona State Pac-12 W 92 84 3 2 6 N Auburn (19) SEC L 68 89 3 3 They have 5 players that average in double figures, and the same 5 average over 24 mpg (4 of them over 30 mpg) so they have questionable depth...They are a good offensive team, but aren't very good on the defensive end, and are one of the worst teams defending on the perimeter (they allow 37% on 3s)... I've watched them a few times this year, and Buddy Boeheim can be a problem...He's a good scorer and has a decent mid-range game...only 31% from 3....Girard was a prolific scorer in high school (Glen Falls, NY) scoring over 4,700 points (he started as an 8th grader for his Uncle Rob) and averaged 50 ppg as a junior and senior...picked 7th or 8th in the ACC this year... "Outlook: ‘Twas another patented ‘rope-a-dope’ Syracuse season in the land of Orange. You know the script. Float on the bubble, barge into the dance, then spoil everyone’s fun masquerading as a ‘Cinderella’, while the rest of us non-Cuse fans roll our eyes in annoyance. Say what you will about Jimmy Boeheim, but few coaches in America are as forthcoming when it comes to assessing their own team (as a semi-professional previewer of teams, this pleases me!). The following Boeheim quote, courtesy of Adam Zagorgia’s interview from Forbes, encapsulates the Orange’s 2021-22 outlook in a nut shell: “We will be a really, really good offensive team. We will score better and more than last year and we were in the top 40 in offense. … We got nine good players but they all can shoot. We got knockdown shooters. We’re a little slow so how much that affects us I don’t know.” Boom, nailed it. Premier athletes with go-go-gadget arms have been subtly replaced by robotic shooters, who can rip the nets from NBA range and beyond. Buddy Boeheim headlines the deep stable of shooters, riding high off his NCAA Tournament inferno. And since the ‘give it to my kid and let him make it rain’ play worked wonders, why not go double trouble with big bro in the mix?! Bottom Line: This is the third straight season where Syracuse will go as their shot making goes, an odd identity shift from the length and athleticism infused defensive-driven squads that preceded them. A healthy Sidibe and a consistent Edwards could restore balance to the force but this figures to be another vanilla defensive team, devoid of the intimidating length and anticipation we’ve seen bewilder opponents in the past. Still, Syracuse will light it up with anyone, again, and be right back in the thick of the bubble ether, again." Highlights of their win against Arizona State...

  8. I feel really good about this one. We are not counting on Freshmen to carry us. Our vets will do just fine in the Carrier Dome and a double digit win for the Hoosiers.

  11. My indicator for this game will be the first 5 minutes. Do we commit to breaking their zone down from the inside-out and playing through TJD as well as through getting the ball to the paint/foul line areas. Or, do we let their zone trick us into several early in the shotclock 3's just because we're open. I don’t mind IU putting 3's up, I just think the recipe will be putting them up because we've worked the zone inside-out, as opposed to guys jacking up deep, early 3's just because their open.

  12. No doubt. Whoever decided on the challenge opponents messed up. Duke/Purdue would’ve been a great game.

  13. I believe so. The 4 years prior to this one we were 24-21 in our last 45 games over a 4 year span. That's actually pretty solid with all things considered, being IUFB and all. I don't expect the world like some do on here. Find a way to compete, we didn't this year.

  14. I spent my 3 day weekend after Thanksgiving redoing a bedroom that will be my wife's office. I had a painter paint the cathedral ceiling the earlier in the week. Friday I painted the walls and started on the flooring. The paint is Sherwin Williams Rainwashed which is a bluish green and changes color a bit depending on the time of day and light conditions. Pics below were taken in the am. When the room gets darker, it looks a little more greener. Saturday I largely finished the flooring. It was getting dark by 4:30 and I had 4 boards to go so I left that for Sun am. Replaced a couple outlets with USB outlets and screw less cover plates. Picked up the quarter round and will get that down this week sometime along with the rest of the outlets. By then, the room will be completely new except for the ceiling fan. My wife thinks she wants to replace that with a chandelier. Sometime in Dec the plan is to do the exact same thing for the other bedroom which is the exact same size and will become my office. While I think everything came out great for this room, it was my trial run for mine

  16. Tough loss for the Colts fans on here. I'll echo what others have said and what I've said since 12 quit on his mates. They've been chasing for a few years the entire team and honestly they are about 9 plays (and 2-3 calls) from being 10-2. NFL is razor thin. All I know is if I'm an AFC contender the Colts are the team I don't want to face in playoffs early.

  17. Indiana is also targeting Miami transfers Gurvan Hall who's a S and Mark Pope who's a WR to go along with Jennings.

  19. Points IU gave up off turnovers: 95 Points IU scored this year: 207 I'm not going to do every game, but I'll use Purdue as a michrocosm: Purdue touchdown drive lengths: 75, 42, 51, 69, 65, 46 Or take MSU touchdown drive lengths: 6, 30 yard td interception Literally half of Purdue's scoring drives started at center field or better, and I'd argue the defense legitimately only gave up 2 field goals to MSU but yeah, the DC is our biggest problem and should be our "statement firing"...

  20. Coach Woody makes me chuckle when he starts chuckling at some of the hand wringing the media guys do over that flippin' zone... He never overlooks anyone, and he breaks the game down to its simplest form...Play good defense and you gotta make shots no matter who you're playing and what defense they throw at you...

  28. Same as others in my reply earlier. Talent is there.....just got passed over for more younger talent. I'll gladly as an IU fan take all of them.

  29. Absolutely. Anyone that assumed we were destined for regular top 12 finishes was beside themselves. imo The fact that we spent an entire season ranked should NOT go unnoticed. We aren't Iowa, Wisconsin, etc. To be those teams we have keeeeeep building. We caught fire w/some underrated dudes stepping up and becoming stars, but we did not have the depth and it wasn't sustainable. The last two recruiting classes we '21 and '22 are by FAR the best two classes we've ever had in terms of quality of player or at least on paper they are. We need to be a Kansas State.

  30. Sorry for delay. Decided to take the holiday week off from the world. Jennings lost his starter role on a defense that wasn't good....but part of that could be coaching?? Kid certainly has the talent. Dad won a title with Florida St....but I also add I think his brother was flip floppy on schools, commits,etc...otherwise all I know he started all games last year but was surpassed by a freshman this year.

  31. Yes we opened 5. Got 6 Ripken all black box corrections. 4 Griffey Rookies 2 Randy Johnson blacked out Marlboro ad, several sheffield cards. These must have been late boxes in the run after all the errors were noticed. Between all of the unopened packs of Donruss, Fleer and Bowman we got 14 Griffey rookie cards.

  35. I mean I don’t watch much Indiana games as I don’t follow the football team like I do the basketball team but if your offense is never on the field because they suck and the defense is asked to be on the field most of the game it’s just destined to be bad for the defense. If you can show me where Indiana won time of possession in more than three of their losses then you might have an argument. Defenses in any program are just not built to me on the field for a majority of the game like the IU defense has been forced to do.

  36. I'm ready for a big game. Got to go on the road against a quality team eventually, let's see how they play. I believe IU has the better team. IU wins 78-75 in a tight one.

  37. People can hate on Coach Allen all they want, but he is truly a class act. He saw zero benefit to fire coaches mid season….we just had to “run with the horses we brung” till the last snap…
    2 points
  38. That's not what LEO is though. He isn't going to fire a coach midseason.. that's not who we are, and it would have done very, very little to change anything. We don't treat people like that. I understand what you're saying, but optics matter. I can promise you there isn't an offensive soul in the coaching world that would have corrected our problems THIS season... like in season. Maybe in the off season with all that prep time.. no way mid season. Too many injuries.

  39. I’m betting that this is the only firing that happens immediately. Hoping (thinking wishfully) that Allen has his new OC identified and will allow him to decide on his own position coaches.

  40. Couple of observed moments from last night I enjoyed. IU was down, 1st half, but beginning to show signs of responding to Marshall’s impressive 12-point lead when Durr was called on a moving screen (on 3 drained by X). Woodson leaned into the ref that called the foul, which seemed a bad call. Good to see. Woodson has not bitched about officiating this year much, but that was good to see. 2nd moment: latter portion of 2nd half Woody called a timeout and torched X the entire timeout. X came out of the timeout, did not pout and finished the game with strong leadership of the team from pg spot. Little building blocks that make us better.

  42. Nice haul!!! I've got unopened boxes of cards I just can't bring myself to open from 1979 to 1983...I know what's in there or potentially in there but just can't do it. My Mom would always get me boxes and it was the same rule. One box is for play and trading. The other is for saving. Same with Star Wars characters....I have to be the only dude with all the original Star Wars characters still in their plastic container with $2.99 sticker from Farm and Fleet. Keep those traditions going!

  43. Not sure if this is really vintage or not, and the pics don't do it justice but here is about half of our haul last night at a baseball auction. I will update as we sort. I do know we got at least 10 Griffey jr rookie cards, 20 Ohtani rookies and 10 Joe Burrow those were just ones not in sets or boxes or the 800 plus unopened packs. It was a great time and I love sharing a hobby with Ayden that I loved as a kid.
