  1. To be honest, the Syracuse Zone has taken down more talented programs than IU over the last 30 years. To say any high school coach should be able to beat it just to take a dig at Coach Crean is a bit much. Yeah, we should have won that game and possible been in the final that year, but Syracuse has always been tough to beat, for everyone.

  2. Did you all know Iowa has two players who are brothers? I didn’t, but then thankfully the ESPN commentators reminded me every thirty seconds that I watched.

  3. I’ll never forget the IU vs Iowa game in which Landon Turner blocked two of Bohannon’s shots.

  5. There's been several times in the past decade someone won the Wooden Award from a school that is in no way, shape, or form a Blue Blood or premier program. The last two winners played at Iowa and Dayton.

  7. You know, when I was in grade school, they had school carnivals every year, and they always had a cake walk... I'd always enter 3 or 4 times, but never won... So to me, even a cake walk isn't a cake walk... 😉

  10. IU has to be patient. Watched VCU play Syracuse this past week in the Battle 4 Atlantis. VCU was patient, worked the middle of the zone, found creases and took quality shots. Add to that timely and quality shots from 3, and I think IU will be fine. Guard their shooters tightly. Overall length and athleticism is not close to what is the norm for Syracuse. Defend, rebound, patient on offense = WIN.

  15. I appreciate that you are a regular member of the board and are always civil even when some aren't toward you. But coming to an IU forum, and arguing for Purdue in any capacity and then asking the "enemy" fan board to provide reason why they don't think their rival is a national contender is kind of like banging your head against the wall and then asking the wall to prove it didn't give you the headache. Or some other analogy that makes more sense. Same with the Illinoise fan who wants to argue with IUFLA and then wonder why it gets testy. You're both the odd men out in the room regardless of of where you live or how you feel about IU or basketball in general. You're teams are not really well like or loved by IU fans. I could care less myself, but i remember being much more passionate about it when i was younger

  18. I think that's a big part. I also believe treating kids with meds at an early age is an issue. Used to be boys who were fidgety in class worked out their energy on the playground. Now they're diagnosed with ADHD and are put on meds.

  19. All good questions. Another is what is the cause of all of the mental/emotional illness in young people? Aside from these school shooters, there is an abundance of kids suffering from all sorts of disorders. I used to work at a small college. The number of students who had severe mental and emotional issues and were on meds was shocking. It was common for security to respond to incidents of kids having a mental/emotional breakdown.

  22. Looking forward to this one just to see where things stack up this early in the season. If we execute and limit turnovers vs zone I think we should win. If we don't we'll lose. Either way it's November in year 1 of a new regime. These aren't program defining games...and we probably won't have many of those this year. Again...new coach, new system....just like to see where we stack up. Hope everyone enjoys!

  23. Have no idea on this rumor, but we know Dolson isn't incompetent based on the brilliant moves he's made with the basketball program. Results remain to be seen, but what he has done with essentially turning the program into an NBA front office style organization is brilliant in my opinion.

  24. Matt Roth was by no means an athletic freak and woulda killed to have a guy like him on the team the last 4 years! Parker knows his roll and to this point has filled it quite well. If he just keeps doing what he has been ill be happy.

  25. I give up. The all knowing , the only opinion they matters the one and only @btownqb has spoken. ND sucks because the football guru says so. I think ND should drop down to D2 so they might have a chance to be relevant. Thank you for opening my eyes I needed this enlightenment. I am on my way to get my SEC rules and everyone else sucks balls ,tattoo as we speak

  27. A hodge podge of Covid items since I haven't posted here in a bit... All early evidence (more will be known in about 2 weeks) points to Omnicron being more transmissible than delta but less severe. This continues with the natural evolution of viruses that has been observed over time. No need to panic or declare states of emergencies (NY). A quote from Alex Berenson- "Something is wrong. The promises that the health authorities have made over the last 12 months about the vaccines are not coming true. Despite near-complete levels of adult vaccination in Europe, many countries are seeing skyrocketing Covid cases and deaths. And worst of all, all-cause non-Covid mortality is running well above normal in country after country." Concerning downstream effects- "Downstream effects of the antibodies that people produce against the coronavirus spike protein may lead to myocarditis and even neurological concerns, two veteran medical researchers have written in the top medical journal in the United States. Our immune systems produce these antibodies in response to both vaccination and natural infection with Covid. However, spike protein antibody levels are MUCH higher following vaccination than infection. Thus the downstream response to vaccination may be more severe. The NEJM published the short paper Wednesday in its Basic Implications of Clinical Observations series. One of the writers is an oncologist and professor at Harvard Medical School; the other is a cancer researcher who has his own lab at the University of California, Davis." NEJM also reporting on the benefits of natural immunity- https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMc2108120 "Accordingly, for a person who has already had a primary infection, the risk of having a severe reinfection is only approximately 1% of the risk of a previously uninfected person having a severe primary infection."

  28. Race and Trayce just need to fill the middle and short corner and we will be fine. Post passing will be a big key. Catch the ball ready to shoot don't be hesitant.

  34. I completely understand your position, and definitely respect it. If i lived in NY and saw the things you did, I would probably feel differently. But, when people we know personally walk in to a clinic to get the shot and end up with strokes, or dead in a day or two the "study" doesn't mean much to me. My family is full of Dr's from cardiologist, to RN, to teaching nursing at a university. They are all vaccinated, but their position is changing. They are seeing issues, and its not uncommon

  36. Pacers lose again 100-98. I guess a new stat called clutch games which means the game is a 5 or less point lead at the 5 minute mark. The Pacers has played the most of these games this year with 10. They are 1-9 in these games and now has lost 5 games leading by double figures in the second half. To me this shows the Pacers don't have a player who can just take over late in the game. We don't have anyone who you just give the ball to and say go get a bucket or get someone a good shot. It seems like we just have to score by our half court offense. We are more but lime a good college team but it doesn't work in the NBA. Sabonis had a great game 16 points, 25 rebounds and 10 assist. Towns almost had a triple double for Minnesota as well. 32 pts, 9 Rebs. And 9 turnovers

  38. I’m not feeling so well about tomorrow. First road game and against a historically legit program. IU energy level, early tempo and long game poise is going to be key. Knock Cuse on their heels early. Defensive stops and quick points in transition is how this team functions best. Less half court sets on offense and hedging at the top on defense will help. Love Race man but can we get more 3pt shots from Bates, Johnson and Stewart instead please. I feel like this is JS 2.0. I really just don’t get it when there are guys with a better chance. Race can kill it down low where he belongs.

  39. Notre Dame has extremely high academic requirements. Not easy to find highly skilled players who also can handle the academic load. Won’t be the case at LSU, and if the basketball program is any indication, he will have a long leash on abiding by the rules
