  1. Stop testing some of the most physically fit humans on earth. They have zero risk. Let them play.

  4. Or we could just stop testing people who aren't sick, but that makes too much sense and threatens the bureaucracies Covid has created and enabled.

  5. I am convinced this virus will never be eradicated. There will always be some variant that gets mutated. Damn Chinese lab.....

  6. Guys, be careful. We closed the covid thread for a reason. If you want to discuss this in terms of sports, then that is fine. What should the NCAA do, should we play etc. We go even one more step into discussing government agenda, politics etc and this will be shit down super fast. @5fouls made a good initial post that set the tone for what this thread is about. Respect that before we have to close a good and fair thread again.

  8. 6-11 from 3. Gunn to me is going to be a perfect compliment to whatever elite guys we bring in over his years in Bloomington. In the mold of Greg Graham, Hornsby type guys and his shot is only going to get better. Glad he's still coming.

  9. Gunn scored 32 points in a 88-79 loss to Tindley.

  10. C’mon guys. There’s more important things to get upset over than getting a game cancelled against a low mid-major. Maybe be thankful that UNC Asheville caught these cases before the game was played so our players are not the ones getting exposed, infected and then cancelling more important Big Ten games in the future. We have a big game on Sunday. Maybe it’s best to take a knee with a minute left going into the second half. With the rapid spread of omicron, I’m sure this has to be going through the administrations’ heads - just get into Big Ten play with as close to a full team as possible.

  12. When: Sunday, January 2nd 4 PM EST Where: Bryce Jordan Center, University Park, PA TV: BTN So far, Penn State is 5-5 under new head coach and former Purdue assistant, Micah Shrewsberry...0-2 in the Big 10 after facing 2 of the tougher teams in the conference... Here are the results so far... A lot of guys we're already familiar with...Seth Lundy can be quite a player, but he's very inconsistent and can shoot the Nittany Lions out of games...If he gets on a roll though, he can be a handful...Sam Sessoms and Miles Dread are two burly guards that can take it to the hoop, and pretty good from the 3 line. And John Harrar is a big, strong, unathletic center that is a real blue collar guy. Penn State lost 3 key player in Isaiah Brockington (transfer to Iowa State), Jamari Wheeler(Ohio State), and Myreon Jones (Florida), and replaced them with Jalen Pickett (13 ppg last year at Siena), Jalanni White (4 ppg last year at Canisius), and Jaheam Cornwall (14 ppg at Garner-Webb). You can see they go about 8 deep, but they're thin in the front court. Highlights of their games vs Michigan State Road test. We can beat this team, but we have to bring our A game defense for 40 minutes. Harrar is very strong, and you're not going to push him around, but he's slow and isn't the most athletic guy...But he's one of the harder workers in the Big 10. Trayce had 21 points and 6 boards in our only game against them last year, an 87-85 OT win in Bloomington. As long as we don't let Lundy go off, and he's gonna be a tough match-up for Stewart or Kopp, I think we can do well here...Harrar isn't a shot blocker, so our guards can do some things on the dribble drive. Sessoms had 17 points against us last year, but I think both XJ and Rob match up well on him...Pound them inside and play defense and we'll come home with a win...

  14. You guys have done great handling a very tough subject. I think what you should do is have steel cage match. One thread. Costs $10 donation to the board to get in....and have it open for 1 day only. No holds barred just let it rip. Haha....kidding.

  18. This is pretty close to a must win. PSU is not a good team and they do not have a particular home court advantage.

  19. Glad you went ahead and started this thread. Thank you. This is our biggest game of the year so far. We are playing a team we should beat and we are on the road. We’ve got to pick up all the road Ws we can. If we win this one, I’ll feel like we are off and running and should not drop below 0.500 in conference all year. If we lose, I’ll probably get that here we go again feeling. Having said all that, I think we win. I don’t know by how much. I don’t care by how much.

  20. Think we've seen this from the beginning...rules for thee and not me....moving the goal post...changing definitions...so on. We all know there is a different set of rules being set for some. Those in power (this includes huge corporate entities like the NFL) will have a different standard than those for the rest of us. It's why we are told not to have weddings or loved ones over for holiday get togethers but those "special" people can have their get togethers and exceptions made. I digress lol.

  22. If they're afraid of exposure, then why play any games at all? The PSU game could be rescheduled. This one can't. Very strange, like a lot of decisions this school makes.

  23. My son and I were at a high school basketball game when he saw the news on twitter. Of course, he is only familiar with Madden because of the video game and the promotion of the recent documentary. We talked about Madden on the drive home. This is one of those that really hits home with me. Not because I was a Raiders fan, because I wasn't. But, because he was such a prominent sports figure when I was growing up.

  31. "Player has to be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and other symptoms only have to be resolving." From this statement, no one needs to lie. You can't lie about a fever, either you have one or you don't. Seems other symptoms don't really matter much.

  32. No, we wouldn't. Because this cold is so infectious that it'd most likely spread to the rest of the team and we still wouldn't be able to put a healthy line-up on the floor anyway (politics or not). The NCAA and IU are trying to avoid as many cancelled games as possible. COVID just went through the entire Chicago Bulls team. Because of quarantining they ended up only having to postpone 2 games. If they would've just sent the first infected player to practice and games, the whole team would've gotten sick at the same time and they probably would've missed 4-5 games (and I'm not going to even get into how this would've affected their opponents' schedules). Sure, they all ended up getting it anyway and they had a limited line-up for almost a month, BUT the infections were spread out (sick players rotating out of the line up over a 3 week span) so they could still field enough players to play almost all of their games. And that is the point: avoid cancellations/postponements. This isn't rocket science. Not everything has to be looked through a political lens; this is the world we live in right now.

  33. I have no doubt there will be some. Some of those players might also not want to take a chance on lying about their symptoms because of fines or whatever else would happen if they were caught lying.

  38. Posted this in the NFL thread and thought it was worth sharing here as well. My son and I were at a high school basketball game when he saw the news on twitter. 41. I would be happy if that’s the case. I’m not convinced yet, but trends look promising, but I will be happy if you are right. It’s super petty of me, but I REALLY look forward to my IU games in the winter and will be pissed if COVID tanks another season.

  42. With the current Covid policies in place, there is little chance that the month of January will be anything short of total chaos. Under the assumption that the policies, themselves, are not going to change, it's time the NCAA to change the schedule. Approach the city of Indianapolis about a repeat performance hosting the entire tourney, only have it take place in April, not March. All February game schedules remain in place. Games scheduled for January are moved to March, and it is up to each conference to get them on the calendar in an order that works for each school. Not a single game is left scheduled in January. Conference tournament championships will be held over a single week, not two, in order from the schedule dragging too far out in the future. ESPN has enough channels to make sure everything gets covered. The major conferences can give up ESPN coverage for their early round games to their respective network partners (BTN ACC, SEC, etc) so that all games are still televised. Drastic? Yes. But, it will beat the heck out of the scheduling chaos we are going to see in January with all the postponements and cancellations.

  45. Which is exactly the reason why the school should be proactive in trying to find a replacement. These games during holidays and school breaks are often the only time a lot of fans can get tickets. Bellarmine makes the perfect replacement team. i hope the school makes that happen and will be disappointed if it doesn't.

  48. So is this now the post game thread? Very disappointing. I echo the sentiment that it would be nice to find a replacement.
