  4. I don’t want to pile on Geronimo. But some of you are so, so unfair to the kid with the expectations you’re putting on him. He’s an athletic, undersized 4 that isn’t particularly skilled at this point. His advanced metrics don’t mean much because he didn’t play many minutes, it’s not fair to think you can literally double his minutes and still get high level production. Its not fair to assume he’s going to play at the wing at all. He didn’t do it last year and he had every chance in the world to earn minutes there. I mean look no further than the Northwestern game where we were absolutely desperate for perimeter players and Anthony Leal played twice as many minutes as he did. I like Jordan and think he’s a good kid, I’m thrilled he came back. I absolutely don’t think he’s remotely as good as the three guys in front of him at the 4 and 5, and I don’t think he has anything resembling perimeter skills at this point in time. I think if he stays another three years he can be a really nice player by the time he’s a senior, but right now he’s a spot minute guy that can be successful when he is put in specific situations. Expecting more than that is setting him up for failure IMO.

  6. Next time you're near Madison, Wisconsin visit the Hubbard Avenue Diner. When you order a shake (from a live person at your table), you not only get a full real-glass shake, you also get the metal container it was mixed in. Just like the old days. Really good food, too. Full menu. Burgers to salmon. Breakfast all day. Homemade-style pies, baked fresh on site. Order cherry or peach pie warm with ice cream. Edit: this is my 500th post! And I spent it talking about pie with 5fouls. Ha. Go IU !

  7. Completely agree on Romeo. Lots of things that were out of his control went wrong for him at IU. He played through more than he had to and really seems to like IU.

  8. No one player is going to create sustained success. That’s the coach’s job and frankly, why Crean was fired. I believe CMW’s pedigree will continue to attract high level recruits and give him an excellent chance to build a consistent high-end team

  10. Yeah, the Celtics were an absolute mess tonight and in the 3rd quarter of Game 1 with just ridiculous turnovers. Just really bad play and mostly careless. Might have cost themselves a trip to the Finals here. I'll disagree that Boston has the two best players. Jaylen Brown is not better than Jimmy Butler. He can play as well as Butler, but Butler is far more consistent with it.

  11. If Geronimo plays 25 mpg next year with the guys we have in front of him at the four, he will be the most improved player in the country.

  12. I think this is the first time I have had high expectations for IU since 2016. It is just not about our roster but looking at the other big ten teams and what they lost. If UM loses both Diabate and Houstan I don't see another team that would be any better than we can be.

  14. Steak N Shake has always been one of my favorite places to eat. the one in Clarksville went to drive thru only during the pandemic, and I never considered it a viable drive thru type meal, so never went. Not sure when it opened back up inside, but my wife and I were looking for somewhere to eat after a yard sale today, and I mentioned that we should go there. Was looking forward to my first Steakburger in over 2 years. We walked in and stood there looking stupid for about a minute waiting for a hostess to sit us. After a while we realized they had kiosks for ordering, and a counter to pick up your food. I don't mind the pick-up counter at all, but I absolutely loathe having to order my food using a kiosk. My wife knows this and offers to order for us while I go find somewhere to sit. We prefer booths over tables, and I walk past several empty ones that were dirty before getting to the last one in the place before finding it to be clean. As I am waiting for my wife to finish at the kiosk (which took her several minutes just for the two of us), I witnessed one older gentleman who had to come to the counter and help him because he could not figure out the kiosk. Another gentleman went up to the counter to inquire on his shakes, only to show the lady behind the counter his receipt, at which time she pointed out he did not order shakes. He thought he had (of course using the kiosk to order). It was also evident that several people were getting their food several minutes after their food. The guy who thought he ordered shakes, had to go back to the kiosk to order them and then got in a shouting match with another customer who he felt stole his shakes when they came out. My wife ordered a shake (I did not) and it was not ready when our food came. Portions were significantly smaller than pre-pandemic. My steakburger had a stale bun. Overall, just not a good experience. What used to be one of our favorite places to eat has gone to crap. My son and I would always stop at ones in Seymour or the Indy area if we travelled up that way to watch a ball game. Not sure that will remain that way, as I refuse to eat at places where I have to use a kiosk to make my order. Have the ones in the Indy area gone to this time of setup?

  16. Long standing Steak n Shake family here on many levels. We used to eat at the first one ever in Normal, Illinois off and on. Loved their food for so long but like many who struggle with their food identity they didn't know what they were. Sit down and charge a bit more.....or focus on quickness of turning tables over and eventually going kiosk because of Covid. The two we still visit occasionally just isn't the same. I order a meal and find myself getting another just to get full. Such a shame. Had a chance to get to meet/know E. W. Kelly in late 90's....and I can assure he's rolling over in his grave with what they've become. We still go from time to time (just like White Castle) but it's more out of tradition than knowing we'll have a good meal.

  22. I am curious to find out how many guys returned or signed on thinking TJD and or Race were gone opening 60+ minutes a game 5 stars & lottery players are great if they buy in…..Ivey never really did. i think if none of the young guns can beat out Kopp you might be in trouble.

  23. The ones in Indy are the same with kiosks for ordering and no table service. I have also noticed that the burgers have shrunk in size. I prefer to go to Culvers or Freddys now.

  27. Fixed it for you. PJ Tucker has been pushing and shoving Tatum all over the court. The play where Tatum hurt his shoulder Oladipo fouled the crap out of him.

  28. Interesting little fact is that of the players who played significant minutes last season TJD was 1st in Defensive Box Plus/Minus at 4.2 and Galloway was second at 3.7.

  29. Like I said, I think the only position in question in the starting lineup is at the 2 between Bates, Galloway, and JHS. No one has mentioned Coach Woodson's favorite subject yet...defense. We know Galloway is a decent defender. Tamar tried, but gets himself out of position sometimes. As far as JHS goes, he was a great high school defender, and has the tools to be a lockdown type guy in college...but, until I see him on a Tanner Holden or Seth Lundy, I'll reserve judgement. I do think he has the best balance of offense and defense of the 3.

  31. With the talent, leadership and coaching we have on this team. I honestly will be disappointed if we don't compete for a B1G title and a S16 run. Unless something extraordinary happens to derail us, we should be hard to beat on any given night. I too an excited about this coming year. I want to brag again. I want to rub titles in peoples faces. I want AH to be feared again when people look at their schedule.

  32. Spent a few hours at the track today. Besides the 33 drivers this guy was the busiest man out there today. No clue why the photo posts crooked...but this guy was as gracious as he could be. Even better when we were leaving we ran into Woody/his wife....and I believe Coach Hunter/his wife. Joked with him about how many pictures he has to take in a day and he said every single one is worth it. He gets into his white SUV and we see him again....I gave the obligatory fist pump and Coach was honking at us and rolled down the window to say thanks.

  41. There’s a lot here to unpack and it’s kinda hard to dig into without clean paragraph breaks, but I’ll give it a shot. I’ll start by saying you kind of pick and choose when you’re applying whatever your definition is of a big in your post - you said JJJ isn’t (he lead the league in blocks) because he doesn’t get planted to the floor and can’t move (I assume this is a shot at Ayton), but if you’re not counting JJJ then wouldn’t you not count Embiid, Joker, etc? I think it’s a little unfair to say not to draft a big high and just use this year as an example when all the best bigs in the leagues had weird things/injuries happen around them to the other best players. Giannis is out in part because of an injury, Joker same story, Embiid just had weird stuff going on with that team, Ayton is out this year but made the Finals last year and they’re out because of how badly CP3 got abused, not because of Ayton. I would obviously take Luka and Young over Ayton from that draft but the rest of it I’m not so sure. I am not even sure I know who you’re talking about you wouldn’t take in this draft, because the top three guys are all 6’10 and all frankly have HOF upside and look the part of guys who can be the centerpiece of a title team in about 5 years.

  42. No doubt. We have a veteran laden team…and some great young pieces that should give us a talent lift. On paper we have the team to beat. With some big non-conference games we should be tested…o think this season can be special. All I was saying is I’m not celebrating anything just yet til we do something and i certainly am not going on other schools forums to run my mouth.

  43. I understand why Purdue's season can be viewed as disappointing, but if we get a 3 seed and make the sweet 16, I won't be disappointed.

  44. No, because the reality is... we weren't going from a poor shooting team to one of Creans team over night. But, the idea isn't to be the best shooting team, right? It's to be the best TEAM. Shooting will be the weakest part of our team this year, I believe... that doesn't necessarily means to has to be SUCH a detriment that it was. It's going to be a little bit of a process to transition out But, but... I am bullish on the we can 1. Flat out develop shooting, the NBA does it everyday. 2. Just shoot more 3s lol ... Kopp's, XJs, and RTs 3pt %s late in the year were fine... shoot more of them. I also think JHS, TG will get us more and more easy buckets because of the constant pressure they will put on teams. They will alleviate pressure off of XJ, as well, and he won't have to have 6 TO games.

  45. As a Bears and Colts fan I've been asking for this move for the past 2 years. We (Bears) could have traded him multiple times for a pick and help us out with his cap number. What did we do? Paid a 3rd string QB I think $16M to make fun of Nagy during games. For the Colts I really, really like this move. Ryan is the starter but Foles is a Super Bowl winning QB, understands Reich's system....and if something happens to Ryan to miss a game or whatever the falloff to Foles isn't that far.
