I know a lot of people don't like the Ballo fit with MR, but Ballo is a beast. He is a double/double machine and gets a lot of his points on putbacks. He had 281 offensive rebounds last season. The entire IU team only had 288. He also doesn't get in foul trouble. He only averages 2.1 fouls/game. No way IU can pass on this guy.22 points

I have no problem being a bad guy about this. I donāt want Woodson. He is not the answer and idc if we are 3-5 wins better next year he isnāt the man and we need to move on. We are already going to throw away next year. š¤¬ If fans go silent then theyāre complacent and theyāre saying āoh well we are what we are.ā Thatās the defeatist attitude that has us where we are already. If I hear one more ignorant fan saying āIU isnāt IU anymore and we need to move on and accept itā Iām gonna PUKE. IU still has everything to be a yearly top 10 program. i want a new coach and im not ok otherwise. And if more fans had a āscrew you I'm not taking it ANYMORE attitudeā it would catch on and change would be forced. Iām not buying another IU anything till we get our š© together and take this seriously. Rant over. for nowā¦ š18 points

Kanaan Carlyle scouting report on 247 in HS, which projected him as an eventual first rounder: "Carlyle is a dynamic ball in hand player with terrific length for his size who can create scoring opportunities for himself on demand. He is simply wired to score from all three levels and never has seen a shot he does not like. His handle is as good and tight as anyone in the class and he can get by a defender with his speed and quickness. While he is primarily a scorer, he is terrific at making attacking plays off the dribble with his excellent handle and when the bucket opportunity does not present itself, he is more than willing to make the right find. What is better than his ability to score is his mindset. His mentality is elite as he is a tough and fierce competitor who is always in full attack mode. His constant aggression is what makes him positively productive. Defensively, he has the length and the foot speed to be elite and devastating on that side of the floor. A terrific two-way guard, Carlyle most certainly projects a reliable scorer who plays through most injuries and goes to war like each game is his last"17 points

I get it. But it comes off as disrespectful. We don't know exactly what happened. But what has come out shows Mac may have been as much as a victim as anyrhing, and then handled it poorly. But he was 18, just moved away from home and had what appears to be a pretty truanatic experience occur. For adults to refer to him by a nickname referencing that episode just makes me a little uneasy. It's not endearing, it's a cheap jab at a kid many many months after the fact. Just my opinion.17 points

Things aren't over with Essegian and their is mutual interest with IU and Power. Ya and Walsh are on Power15 points

per Tony Ardagna this is good info for everyone to remember. Shooting is fun & all, but you need creators for most knockdown shooters to even matter. Carlyle & Rice are both high-level creators. They will greatly help overall offensive movement. Spacing could be a lot better with just a little bit of an improvement from those two and their ability to shoot the 3.15 points

Just a quick message of appreciation to Newton and Cupps. They could have easily taken the portal route but seem genuinely engaged in bringing talent to IU. Appreciate you guys and hope you ball out next season!14 points

Here's my two cents. With Tucker, Rice, and Ballo we've already crushed the offseason. If/when Carlyle says yes that's even better. No disrespect to the Hickman or Essegian types but they won't move the needle like the above. If Essegian comes great. If not....find another.13 points

As an employee of IU this is very biased and one sided. The president has done a lot of great things like centralization to reduce costs and increase support. Plus her push make IU more student centric instead of just faculty centric is the move all schools need to make to survive. Plus reduced fees for students at IU. No more siphoning money from students where I know schools and departments were using those fees to support things that did not apply directly to the students. Also in my area no one has been let go/RIFed to make these things happen. Faculty across all the campuses do not understand the new landscape of higher ed. Regional IU campuses will close soon if they donāt get on board. Lots of things I could get into but wonāt as I donāt want to cause discord.13 points

Who would have imagined, even just a few years ago, that the 8-time national champion program Pat Summit built would come calling for the Indiana head coach, and our would tell them "no":13 points

He's not leaving Michigan for Indiana anymore than Knight was leaving for Ohio State. We had our chance. Indiana is always a week late and $20 short.13 points

I've tuned in to most of the games today. EVERY one of them, both teams played with intensity and energy I haven't seen in years at IU. Compared to the NCAA teams, we play like we're in the "walk-thru" practice session. Pitiful.13 points

All of the following are real quotes from high-major D1 college basketball coaches: Sounds like they're talking about the portal/NIL, doesn't it? They're not. Know what they're talking about? They're talking about the exact thing that everyone in this thread is clamoring for, even the "old school" guys..... All of the above quotes are from 1986-87, and the coaches are talking about the adoption of the 3 point line. Just a reminder that even in our own personal "good old days", there was a "get off my lawn" guy yearning for HIS "good old days". Things are always evolving. That doesn't make change inherently good or inherently bad, but change is always present.12 points

NBA Draft room assessment of Carlyle... NBA Draft Room Kanaan Carlyle POSITION: PG FROM: Stanford (Milton, GA) HT: 6-2 WT: 175 Draft Notes "Carlyle is an ultra-quick and explosive lead guard who flashes big time upside. He has an elite first step and blow-by ability and overall top end athleticism. Heāll need to keep getting stronger but heās well on his way to having an NBA frame. Carlyle is a blur up and down the court and has an extra gear. He loves to push the pace and attack the rim or set up teammates in the open court. Has a nice pull-up game and can score 1on1, taking it all the way to the rim or getting into his mid range game. Heās a capable 3pt shooter but has a ways to go in terms of becoming a knock down threat from NBA range. But heās young and weāll see big improvements in his jumper over the coming years. On the defensive end Carlyle really gets after it pressuring the ball and using his elite quickness to disrupt in the passing lanes. Has all the tools to be a great defender at the next levels of play." I'll take that š12 points

Exactly. Offensive efficiency is about more than just 3P%. It's about being able to attack a defense in multiple ways. Kanaan Carlyle is a three level scorer. Myles Rice is a scorer and distributor. Keisei Tominaga, everyone's favorite shooter, right? Shot just 33% from 3 his first year at Nebraska, on 3.6 attempts per game. Ryan Conwell, the shooter everyone wants from the portal, shot just 30% as a freshman at South Florida in the AAC. Even Connor Hickman, over 40% as a junior, had a sophomore year at Bradley wherein he shot 33.6%. We have to stop looking at 3P% as the sole indicator of a player's worth.12 points

I'm not a big I told you so type of guy. Never been my make up. I say what I think and if it checks out cool....if it doesn't I'll try to understand what I wasn't seeing. BUT....if we land Rice and Carlyle and Bollo....throw in a side dish of one of the other bigs with Hickman from outside and you add that pot of goodies to Malik, Mack, and Trey and our McD's AA Tucker....we will have something pretty serious pretty quick. Hope this all plays out.12 points
