I’m looking forward to seeing what Newton can provide us this year. You can’t bank on him being an impact player given he hasn’t played competitive basketball in 2 years at this point, but the potential is there. Hopefully we see some of that potential this year

Sounds like that would be an uphill battle
Thanks. I kinda figured that. Just not reciprocal interest or did we not really pursue?

I have a hard time believing he'll do two years in a row.
Sorry, I meant was it confirmed that he redshirted last year? I would assume so but I don’t remember seeing anything. Is he considered a rs freshman now? You’re right I wouldn’t expect him to redshirt this upcoming year

Speaking of Gallo, any word on his recovery?

Will Newton redshirt?

Any updates on Payne? Or had that ship sailed now that Ballo is on board?

How do you remember that. 7 out of 10 have been IU targets over the last 8 years.
I only remember him because he was one of Archie’s priorities at one point, only to hop around schools and put up mediocre numbers. I looked up his stats and will give him credit that he has improved throughout his career, averaging 15 points 8 rebounds and 3 assists this season.

I’ve never been out for blood, and I never want to root against our own team. I thought it was a logical move to cut bait when the cupboard was empty so to speak, and there were several guys ripe for the picking- May, Mussleman, Beard, etc. I thought the staff did a poor job last year and would rate last season as a C-.
I would have preferred a coaching change, but as it stands, we are all in on CMW, like it or not, and getting top guys in the portal is a great first step. Lots on the line next season, as I’m sure coach is aware. Until we take a superiorly talented team on a sub par journey, all I can say is Go IU…Well said

Well that sucks… I really wanted to bring in someone who we could count on to hit a three. Not sure there’s anyone yet on this roster besides maybe Mgbako that I’d feel comfortable hitting 3s at a good clip

There really is no rivalry any more. Purdue IS Indiana basketball now. Remember when Kentucky raced past us in the mid nineties and never looked back.
Purdue is now doing the same thing.
You’re pathetic, find a new place to troll

Anyone who wants Purdue to win clearly hasn’t spent enough time around some of their insufferable fans

Purdue will probably guard Burns like MR. TKR with a guard digging or Zach waiting on baseline side
people act like he is Zion or Barkley

I would love to have 40% 3pt shooters across the board but if my point guard is elite at breaking down the defense and finishing off the dribble or finding shooters…guard his position..and has high basketball IQ…sign me up. You can surround him with some shooters (if you go this route you need to have a hella of shooter at the other guard spot.
He definitely has handles and great vision…shot needs to get tighter but like I said…coach him up on good shot selection and partner him with a great pick n roll partner and couple of shooters…he will be fine.
Thanks for the video. I wasn't really familiar with him, I admittedly just looked at his 3p shooting. It seems he is highly regarded and I liked his ability to break down the defense as you mentioned. He reminds me a little bit of Braden Smith in his pick and roll game and quickness getting to the basket and finding the open guy.
I'd certainly be down to add him I just pray we can get someone (or 3 or 4 guys) who can seriously shoot it. I don't know how much more IU basketball I can watch with teams who can't shoot at a high or even decent level.

Gas station version of Shaq has no chance.
Purdue did it the right way, I give them credit. A bunch of Indiana Boys and a 7 foot center nobody wanted.
Painter is a heck of a scout and coach.
Interesting, I’ve never heard anyone call Edey the gas station version of Shaq. Has a good ring to it though
