  1. You never know how the year will play out and what injuries might occur. There is no reason to purposely go a player short.
  2. A petition is nothing more than a count of people that share an opinion in hopes that it will help them be heard. As soon as the mega donors backed Woodson, the decision was made. People who think they can silence opposing opinion should chill.
  3. So what that people were signing a petition and done with Woodson? Supporting or not supporting woodson as coach has no bearing on whether you're a true IU basketball fan. Both sides want what they think is best for the program. So yes, it's a load of crap to pull out the "true fan" card.
  4. I wouldn't say nobody, especially my examples from the facebook group (although think the "true fan" attack gets thrown around at some point or another on every board/group/forum). I think exaggerating the other side's opinion to make it appear unreasonable is arguably trying to squash an opinion. True, Leal could have been focused on just the crazier of the fans that cross the line. I think another possibility is Woodson's inability to take any criticism without lashing back may be rubbing off on his players. He could be stirring the pot.
  5. because that nobody has a much higher chance of becoming somebody than that empty chair. Plus, it's another player for practice, one that would presumably be better than the walk-ons. And whose to say #13 would be the least talented of the scholarship players? Maybe said player is good enough to crack the rotation and push someone else down.
  6. Maybe we can finally get a package deal to work with Adams and Haralson.
  7. A lot of people just don't think people with different opinions should be able to voice said opinion. I'm in a facebook group for IU fans and not sure how many times you get the "you're not a coach" hogwash response. Apparently having experience as a coach is required in order to post...well only if you're critical. If you like Woodson then no coaching experience necessary. Guess we can thank Leal for leading that charge. Of course, that's mixed in with the "you're not a true fan" commentary.
  8. That's about as over the top as saying we could lose every game and people would still be on here saying how awesome Woodson is and he just needs more time.
  9. I think the sisley train would have already left the station one way or another by then.
  10. oh my bad, didn't realize commenting about choice of travel was off limits.
  11. was the contact period only today? Just thought it was odd to be flying around in-state but whatever. Hopefully it helps and 2025 bears more fruit than 2024.
  12. no wonder our recruiting budget dwarfs everyone else's budget. Can't even drive for in-state visits lol
  13. Is Woodson not responsible? He could easily say the same about pro-woodson people that are working hard to give him a pass.
  14. If Goode is strictly a 3, then wonder if MM will end up slotting at the 4 some. Then you also have Tucker but he could probably fill in at a few positions. I'm hoping our backup 4 does open things up with outside shooting regardless of whether he is called a wing or big.
  15. I just said they were unproven and they were unproven. We had XJ, who had played just 11 games the season before, Galloway and a bunch of players that hadn't played much at all or not at all. We also had an open scholarship. I think the opinion that Woodson should have brought in better competition at the guard spot is valid and foreseeable prior to the season starting.
  16. They still have a shot to earn playing time but there should have been more competition. This isn't a casual church league. You play to win, not to make sure everyone gets a shot.
  17. Maybe not injury prone but he played in 11 games in 22/23. You think relying on him and a freshman PG as backup was a good idea?
  18. It isn't hindsight when people were pointing out our guard deficiency before the season even started and then were proven correct. Why should his job have to be on the line in order to put the best product on the floor or best depth?
  19. Naming players that didn't work out doesn't really prove the point you think it does.
  20. Woodson wasn't to blame for going into the season with an injury prone PG, Galloway and a bunch of unknowns/unproven backups? Yea, I don't agree with that one bit.
  21. No, I would fill the scholarship with a project that I would hope develops and worst case scenario be a good player to practice against for a year. If he doesn't develop and we need the scholarship the next year, then yea, it would be a 1 year rental. But someone in that position would do it for the chance to prove themselves.
