Back when I was at IU (20 years ago), both bands were usually at tournament games (big ten / ncaa) and at least some neurtal site games because IU band used to go to Rupp Arena when we used to play Kensucky.

Regardless of connection, it still refutes your idea that they would never go after 4 or 5 star players. Even allen landed a few 4 stars and some with plenty of other offers

No it's not. He said he trusts his own ability to rate players over that of some media person who doesn't watch nearly as much film. Not even remotely close to saying we will never get anything better than 2 or 3 star recruits. Call you Gumby for that massive stretch.

JMU was FCS i think when he left. Maybe he wanted to play Power 5 football. Maybe he was paid to leave (NIL) Leaving JMU as an FCS program doesn't necessarily point to him not liking CCC.

Wilson had an incident in McNutt the first day on the job from what I recall, which may have soured some. CCC probably also gave people more of the bob knight vibe with his abrasiveness to the media that many seem to appreciate. Wilson wasn't quite as self promoting from what I recall and CCC has a ready made staff and head coaching history to somewhat back up the bravado. And CCC gets the benefit of the portal to fill up his roster immediately.
