  1. The biggest issue I see, outside of needing to fill nearly an entire roster with late commits and portal guys, is style of play.

If you have watched virtually any game in the tournament you see excellent ball movement and lots of shooters and a few guys that can create shots for themselves and others.

Nothing in Woodson's three seasons have shown anything on offense that leads you to think something like that is possible with him at IU.

The ball sticks constantly, there is very little movement from guys without the ball. It's boring to watch and ineffective in the current landscape of college basketball.

Nudge Sparks out unless he’s willing to become a preferred walk - on. Who cares if he’s willing to be 12th or 13th man…he’s taking up NIL and a scholarship that we could allocate elsewhere. He’s simply not a high major player. It’s now or never.

I wasn't a fan of bringing Sparks in because he has a lot of limitations, but IU isn't in a position to push people out the door.

There's probably 7 or 8 open scholarships to fill once all the dust settles.

  3. I didn't get a chance to watch much of the game today, but the game Saturday it felt like UK was crowding the plate.

One guy made a check swing and was hit. There were a couple other batters hit where they dipped their arm or knee into the path of the ball.

I think this shows how poorly some of these recruiting services rank guys. Jamar Johnson, Micah McFadden.. go check their HS rankings. Day 1 studs at Indiana. Feeney, Spriggs.. same thing. Tevin Coleman. Kofi Hughes.

Tracy Porter, Kellen Lewis, DeMarlo Belcher were all unrated prospects and did really well too.

Any news from the scrimmage today?

I had a friend there sending me updates.

WR group looked great.  Several good catches.  Kam Perry was with the 1s.

Sorsby looked good and much more comfortable with the offense than Jackson.

Both kickers had a doink off the uprights.

Man, I sure was hoping to see my team, Jennings County have a chance to play Kokomo. I know we would have had our hands full playing Ben Davis, but you never know. I was speaking to a church member last Sunday after our loss. Two of the starters and their families attend attend our church. They said there were a couple of things that were a little unnerving and frustrating at the New Castle gym. One thing was, when they were running and playing on the court, it sort of had a bounce or a give court floor and the rims seemed very tight with no give. They specifically said they were as bad as the rims at Connersville.

I coached my son's 4th grade team in the ECI league. Most of our games were at Wapahani or Delta. We played one week at New Castle, and after the games I shot around some.

The rims were definitely a little tight.  Not nearly as forgiving as our home gym.

I know it's just the luck of the draw, but you really couldn't have designed a more difficult schedule for IU if you tried. With how the teams are currently ranked, IU has the 3rd most difficult schedule, behind only Minnesota and Ohio State (they don't get to play themselves). Here's how the other top half teams SOS ranks: Purdue (13th), Rutgers (11th), Michigan (10th), Illinois (14th), Iowa (8th), Northwestern (4th). If IU is able to get a double bye in the BTT, it'd be all the more impressive considering how the schedule turned out.

I was looking for that information earlier this week. Where did you find thenin conference SOS?

  8. I had a text from a friend a couple hours ago that said Geronimo is playing today. He got there early and is in the Fieldhouse waiting to get in while Geronimo and Renau were handing out food.

He asked Geronimo if he was playing today and JG nodded and gave him a fist bump.

Illini D is pretty solid, not sure about the pass rush. Kept things pretty vanilla against Wyoming so didn't really need to show much.

Working in 3 new starters in the interior of the OL, they're going to need some time to gel. As noted above McCray is out but Illinois is pretty deep at RB so not a huge loss.

Amazing how few times Illinois and Indiana have played over the last decade, one of the things I really hate about the conference expansion.

What is the feeling about this game from the Illinois fanbase?

If NIL is not done by the school….why can’t a kid take the money from multiple businesses/schools

I would love to see how these contracts are written

I could be wrong, but I was thinking most high school athletic associations haven't approved NIL.  If a kid in HS signs a deal they forfeit eligibility.  I think that's why that QB from Texas enrolled early at OSU.

    Is it Blue…..so a Ford?

Falling behind on my ag equipment…Purdue may take back my degree

The tractor industry is just like everything else, it has evolved and consolidated a lot lately.  It's a New Holland, which now isn't any different than a Case IH. They are both owned by Fiat.

  12. I had the privilege of meeting Bill Lynch on Sunday.  He was incredibly nice and easy to talk to.  We chatted for 10 to 15 minutes and I was very impressed with how engaging he was.

I am coaching my son's 3rd grade team in the ECI League, and we were playing at Delta. I was talking with a friend, with a kid on our team who is a fellow IU alumni and coach Lynch popped up.

I definitely wished he had succeeded as Coach Hep's replacement because he is a high character guy.
