When you are invested in what you are doing, you are sometimes blinded to the faults.

The non-IU National Tournament thread…

I love the under dog who over achieves. Who doesn't. Kinda like sticking it to the man. But this is looking like a UCon natty. -
If we ever get quantum computers worked out, we will really be in trouble. I love tech as much as the next guy but it can get out of control and once it's out, there's no going back.

2023 PG Gabe Cupps Commits to Indiana

I have to believe that going against XJ and possibly Love in practice every day will speed up Cupps development quite a bit. -
Car Talk (and Truck Talk too)

In the mid 1970's I had a Porsche 356 SC for a couple of years. It had a broken piston ring so I rebuilt the engine. I had already rebuilt a couple of he's and the process was pretty much the same. It had the European license plates still on it and, of course, the speedometer was in kph not mph. It was a lot of fun. -
I have said forever that our greed keeps us from dealing with any of the hard problems we have as a society. If money can't be made off of a problem, then no one has any interest in solving it. The same thing goes for medical research. If you have a rare cancer you are screwed. No one is spending research money to treat that. No return on investment. Common cancers get the research money because there is a profit to be made. It's never about people, only about profits.

Stories That Make You Shake Your Head At The World
cthomas replied to 5fouls's topic in Colonial Crester's Corner
I'm not and will never be a gun owner. It's my individual choice. I'm also not about to tell anyone else what he or she should do. Guns are currently the tool of choice for the disturbed individuals who feel the need to express themselves by killing innocent people. The problem to me has always been the perpetrators. We, as a nation, always make these incidents political and go for an easy, visible, grandstanding solution. As jarring as school shootings are, I am as appalled by the daily stories right here in Indianapolis of teenage young men killing each other. Something is broken in our society and we had better figure out how to address it pretty soon. Whatever the social problem is, I guarantee the fix won't come from politicians. -
Or already has one.

Maybe CMW wants to lock down the roster early and spend the summer playing golf with Scott May.

Purdue had a really good team this year. They were the best in our conference. They lost again in an embarrassing fashion. My thoughts are that they didn't have a lot of talent beyond Edey who was a really good college big. Unfortunately for them, they are playing a game that no longer exists at the elite level of college basketball. I hate Purdue but like CMP and think he is doing the best he can with the resources available to him. -
Brilliant analysis.

I know everyone is mad, but do we still get a participation trophy?

I never understood how people could question CMW's coaching ability. He has coached at the highest level and he played at IU for a legendary coach. Not many people have the background he has. That said, I have seen him grow so much from last year to this one. I believe we are in good hands going forward.

You are right about that, brother. I'm am old guy now and damn lucky to be here. The chances I have taken over the years scare me just thinking about them. I hope there is no rush to judgement here and the proper amount of time is taken to sort this out. -
Is that the elusive unicorn?

CMW this week didn't sound all that positive that XJ would return at all. Said he still wasn't practicing or doing contact drills. Also said he was going to meet with him about what XJ wanted to do. While I think he will give it a shot just because he doesn't want his career to end like this, I'm not sure he will be physically ready to play at a high level.

If I was his coach, I would address it from the standpoint of maintaining emotional control. The incident is inconsequential but the behavior, if left unchecked, could cost his team at some point. The player has some maturing to do. Part of a coaches responsibility is the personal development of young people.

That never gets old.

Every possibility exists somewhere in the multi verse. Even you are a Purdue student somewhere there.
