I voted for Hollar as well, but couldn’t pull the trigger on Pankowski... He came across as kind of a clown to me, but all I was going off of were their statements. All I really know about him is that he’s one of the Hoosier Hysterics guys — anything I was missing? Honest question. Craig Wells was the other candidate I voted for. Basically just picked the two candidates whose educational/career histories I liked the most and whose statements didn’t include a bunch of nonsense about “equity” and “hybrid learning.”

Well this was a bad call... I can’t wait to see UNC and Duke tank with Williams’ and K’s stoolboys.

If Stevens was actually seriously considering the IU job in the middle of the NBA season this year, he’s absolutely taking the Duke job after ratface retires... No way they go with Scheyer if Stevens is available. The nice thing is, I’m not even upset about this. Mike Woodson is the guy.

Not sure it will be the case that you’re only getting players with 1-2 years eligibility. Now that they don’t have to sit out, there will be a ton of players like Adam Miller at Illinois who choose to leave after one year, for a variety of reasons . If there are a lot of those types of incoming sophomores out there, I can see why you would want to recruit players like that over high school players. The player still has three years left and has already been productive at the college level. Players like that (along with other incoming juniors and seniors) will be really valuable.

He’s the kid with his phone up in the other kid’s face before he gets popped. Happens in every college bar in the country every weekend. Don’t talk **** if you’re not ready to get hit... And the thing that makes it even funnier is he’s 24 years old and putting himself in this situation. Important lesson learned for the young man IMO.

Kid was trying to start a bar fight and got rocked — hilarious. Between this and Dakich doing DoorDash deliveries because he lost so much money betting on the tournament, it’s been an amazing day in college basketball news.

Solid program, solid conference. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him become a 12 ppg guy there. Will be interesting to see how he improves.

Probably because the commitment really came out of nowhere. We weren’t involved in the recruitment before he committed to Texas, and after he decommitted, I hadn’t even heard he was considering IU before we landed him. So we didn’t get the usual 20-page recruitment thread hyping him up. And he didn’t get the five star ranking until after he’d already committed. But I think he’s gonna be a stud. Should be the best guard we’ve had since Romeo, and it sounds like he’ll be a better shooter as well.

Wholeheartedly agree with all of that, except the implication that fans taking shots at the outgoing coach on internet message boards has literally anything to do with the health of the program.

Like others have said, maybe we’d be more inclined to “show some class” if he’d shown any after we kicked him to the curb. As it is, I have no qualms getting some parting shots in.

Being subjected to Archie ball for four years was far worse than being thrown under a bus, lol.

He’d usually offer the empty “that’s on me” platitude in a post-game press conference, but once he’d really jacked up all the players’ shots by the end of his tenure and the pressure started ratcheting up, he started shifting the blame to them more often. What’s always gotten me are the people who continue to say he’s a “good coach” with literally nothing to support that except for two A-10 regular season titles (one shared), a fluke Elite 8 run (beating 6 seed OSU, 14 seed Syracuse, and 10 seed Stanford), and the fact that his dad was a good high school coach (lmao). And the funny thing is, many of those same people will trash Crean as a terrible coach even though he’s objectively better than Miller by basically every measure. It’s never made any sense to me.

Kind of blows my mind he was able to maintain any sort of arrogance with how much of a disaster his tenure was. I mean he wasn’t even just bad, he was a laughingstock in the Big Ten. How many times did we hear players on other teams say they knew exactly what we were going to do going into a game? Opposing coaches just ran rings around him, and the recruiting sucked on top of that. Comparing him to Crean is honestly an insult to Crean (and Crean isn’t very good).

Touchy, lol. As with all data, it all depends on which data set you want to look at. Of course you can make a strong argument that he’ll shoot 40% from three if you only look at the games where he shot around 40% from three. And you can just as easily say that in a 56 game sample size during his freshman and junior years, he’s only shot 32.6% from three (57/175). Lies, damn lies, statistics, etc.

On the other hand, we can’t be entirely sure whether his sophomore year was the outlier. He was a subpar three point shooter his freshman year as well, in a not small sample size (23/72, 31.9%).

I fit right in with what they’re trying to do. … With me being able to shoot from outside, it helps my game because you have to guard me anywhere on the floor. And it helps my teammates because if I’m out on the perimeter, you can’t just stay in.” And because he can shoot, Durr said, Woodson told him he would put Jackson-Davis and Durr on the floor at the same time. That would seem to go against Woodson’s overall game plan of going four-out, one-in, but if one or both of them show enough perimeter comfort as shooters and ball-handlers, it would at least be possible. “We’re definitely playing together,” Dunn said. “Being a force in the Big Ten with both of us.”

We’ll see. I’m sure he’ll get some time at the 4 here and there, but I think he’ll play mostly at the 3.

Tbh, I think I might be more confident in TJD shooting from deep than Race at this point. Based on Mike Woodson’s comments about TJD stepping out and hitting jumpers, I wouldn’t be surprised to see TJD at the 4 and Durr at the 5 at least sometimes.

Not necessarily when you’re just listing off their heights, but I’m not sure Kopp fits the profile of a 4. First off, from what I’ve seen, 6’7 is a pretty generous listing for Kopp. And based on the videos I’ve watched, it doesn’t look like he was playing the 4 for Northwestern much at all last season. Looked much more like a 3 than a 4 to me. That’s not to say there’s no way he could play the 4. With the way college basketball is trending and how Mike Woodson may want to play, he very well could, and he’d provide some much needed shooting at that spot. But he’d certainly be an undersized 4, especially in the Big Ten, and I think it would be tough for him on defense and really tough for him on the glass (averages less than 3 rpg for his career). Right now, my money’s still on Race starting at the 4.

Really not sure how you can call a player who’s shot 21% from three (6/28) and 62% from the line in his three-year career anything other than a “complete non-shooter”... but I guess the message boards say he was a great shooter in high school, lol.

Unless Geronimo makes a huge jump or Mike Woodson decides to start a small ball lineup with Kopp at the 4 and TJD at the 5, there are going to be non-shooters starting at both forward spots.

This is what I’m wondering — does Durr have a chance to start alongside TJD, or will TJD and Race be starting with Durr coming off the bench? I lean toward the latter, but who knows. Either way, the kid will be getting meaningful minutes and should be a huge upgrade over a geriatric Joe Brunk.

Yet another player in what seems like a long line of IU forwards who fans mistakenly think can play at the guard/wing spot, haha. Geronimo just isn’t a 3 in the college game — won’t be able to handle the ball or create off the dribble like he’d need to to play there. But he really is the perfect 4.
