  1. Unfortunately, over the years, teaching has been made into such an unglamorous job. Poor conditions, terrible administrators, stupid standards, horrible testing, no support for teachers, poor pay for what they have to do and the responsibility they have. Consequently, there are a ton of terrible teachers and administrators out there, and it gets harder all the time for the truly great ones who want to be there. Most of the best and smartest people go into something else that can make more money. As you know, I left after 8 years to go back and get my masters degree. Got tired of dealing with all the crap and making just over 40k a year. There are so many issues in education right now. Part of me hopes the teacher shortage gets so bad that it forces an overhaul of the educational system. There needs to be a lot done to get better people going into education again. There are a whole lot of idiots out there teaching right now.
  2. This will be a really interesting game. We don't have to be able to compete with top 10 teams to make a bowl game. Win this one, and we still have a chance. Minnesota, Rutgers, and Purdue are all winnable games.
  3. I hope he doesn't get it bad. However, this was my first thought about next week's game.
  4. I don't really disagree with you big picture, but KC is all over the place, and Pitts is turning into a focal point for Atlanta. For fantasy purposes, 1 game scenario, at this point in time, it's pretty close. If KC gets their magic back, Kelce for sure, but if I had both, I would have to take some time to consider who to start next week.
  5. He also missed an extra point, and both of those were quite a bit earlier in the game. Could have been trying to go up by 3 (which, like you, I wouldn't agree with), or the field conditions could be getting a lot worse. Just wonder if the weather could have played a part in it.
  6. The rain probably played a big part in it too. I would imagine kicking is going to be a big gamble tonight.
  7. I just saw that Chase broke (shattered) the record for most receiving yard in the first 7 games as a rookie with 754. Broke Anquan Boldin's record of 621. Pitts now has 471 after 6 games, and has an outside shot at getting pretty close to that record of Boldin's. As a TE, that's pretty crazy. He would probably break Ditka's rookie TE record of 1076 in the 14 games Ditka played. Give him 17, and he's probably going to shatter it. For 1 game, it would be close between Pitts and Kelce. Kelce is still pretty consistent, but Pitts is such a matchup nightmare. If Pitts has another game or two like he's had the last 2 weeks, I'd give him the nod.
  8. They're definitely set up well for the future. A good QB and WRs can carry an offense for 8-10 years. I would imagine the front office knows they have to get better on the OL starting next year. I would guess if they don't go OL heavy in the next draft and/or free agency, there will he a lot of unhappy Bengals fans.
  9. I was on the docks in Mississippi this afternoon, and somebody came in with about a 5 or 6 foot tuna. Can't imagine catching something that big.
  10. The Bengals got a lot of flack for drafting Chase instead of Sewell, but man, that offense is going to be dangerous. Chase is going to be close to leading the league in receiving yards after this week. They really need to get better on the OL, but that's a lot easier to do than to find a game changing WR.
  11. I'm so glad I drafted Chase and Pitts at 3 and 4 in my rookie dynasty draft instead of Etienne and Lance, or Williams, or whoever else. I'm definitely handcuffed at QB and RB this season, but Chase and Pitts might be #1 at their positions before long.
  12. Last year our offense put the other team in positions where they had to be more aggressive throwing the ball. We could be much more aggressive on defense. This year, we're getting behind early, and the other team's offense can be a lot more conservative. It would be great if we could get out to a lead and make the other team make some mistakes.
  13. That's why my opinion of Allen hasn't changed at all this year. You could tell in DeBord's last year that he was getting pissd with the offense. Not a chance in hell DeBord retired on his own. He's had 3 coaching jobs since he left. I don't think Allen puts up with coaches not getting it done, and I think we're definitely going to see changes on the offensive staff in the offseason. All the coaches on offense outside of McCullough (and probably Heard) should be worried. Lots and lots of blame to go around on that side of the ball.
  14. The underclassmen OL has a ton of bodies, only a few were very highly rated. Haven't watched tonight's game (thankfully), but I can't think of the last time we were able to run routes down the field. I think our playcalling is too predictable and doesn't help the OL, but I don't think anybody is good enough at calling plays to make this OL look good. We've had no holes to run all year. Even last game, we had a long run, and they showed the replay, and the MSU LB took the wrong hole. We didn't even really have to block anybody, they just made a mistake and had nobody there.
  15. I'm not a fan on firing a position coach mid-season, but I would make an exception in this case. Our OL has killed this team. Dramatically limited the offense, and the lack of offense has beat down the defense. Maybe a firing would give the line a different mindset and give them a boost. I feel confident in saying it can't be worse than it is now.
  16. It will take at least a couple years to overcome this train wreck. It isn't like we have a scheme issue that could be fixed in a year. Our OL struggles with everything. Fundamentals will have to be completely retaught by a new coach (no way Hiller survives this disaster). More talent will have to be recruited. We have to make the OL our biggest emphasis moving forward. If we had a Kevin Wilson line, we would be a really good team this year. Our OL play has limited our running game, put a ton of pressure on QBs, and caused almost all routes to be quick and not allow our WR to get separation.
  17. It's to the point where the guys on the OL coaching themselves with YouTube videos might be an improvement. It's mind blowing a line with this much experience in a system can be so bad. And not just bad. They've got to be the worst OL in P5 football by a wide margin.
  18. Not only does it hurt the offense, but you know the defense has to get frustrated. The defense has played good enough to win about every game so far, and they have nothing to show for it. I've watched it with the Bears for years. After a while, the defense gets demoralized.
  19. I've never been so happy to be on vacation and unable to watch the game. Going to be embarrassed in 3 of our first 5 games against top 10 teams, and piss away the other 2. Also have to watch PU and Illinois get top 10 wins the last 2 weeks against teams that demolished us. What a disappointing season so far, and getting hard to see us beating Maryland, Rutgers, Minnesota, and Purdue to get to a bowl game.
  20. Up 16% in Australia and 21% in Germany overnight. All of you better get your tickets for the moon soon. Don't want you to miss out!
  21. Just make sure you budget in a few extra batteries. 20 minutes goes by really quickly. A carrying case is a great investment too so you can keep extra batteries, chargers, cables, extra propellers, SD cards. So nice to be able to keep it all together and have it where it is easy to take with you if needed.
  22. The DJI Phantom 3 my school had was awesome. I couldn't imagine needing anything more than what it had. When we first got it, I was testing it out and flew it from my parent's house to my brother's house which is almost a mile away with woods between them. Fantastic range. Did great in the wind, and landed itself perfectly every time. Don't know much about the DJI mini, but I think all of their products are pretty good.
