  1. I think this is super plausible and most likely what happened. I also think it's embarrassing that Bill Self is playing chess with our recruits, while our coach is asleep at the wheel. Time for this program to get serious about basketball and hire a coach that is also playing chess.
  2. Yeah, that quote was one of the most asinine and negligent things I've heard a coach say.
  3. Not sure. I don't want to oversell the significance of the timing, but it also can't be a coincidence. Sounds like there had been rumblings for awhile on this though. When I watch our team, I've often been puzzled as to why a player like McNeely would choose IU in the first place. Never really made sense.
  4. All the money and resources Indiana University throws at recruiting, and this staff has 0 commits and isn't really in on anyone. 🤦‍♂️
  5. Wish I could find the tweet, someone shared it in a postgame thread a couple of weeks ago, but when I hear this news I think back to that Woodson quote last year when he said, "it's not my job to get Miller Kopp shots." As a shooter seeing a team struggle to shoot last season and hear the coach say that about the one good shooter, I would be terrified to play there.
  6. Agree, he's looked a lot happier and confident the last several games. Great to see. I just hope he makes the right call (IMO) and comes back. He's not an NBA player right now. Doesn't have the athleticism for thst level yet and needs to improve his D.
  7. Yeah, one more year would do him a lot of good on a variety of different fronts (improve athleticism, show consistency, etc). Hopefully it's in the cards.
  8. He's been playing so well lately! Great to see. Will be interesting to see what happens with him.
  9. The offensive rebounding was kind of my point. He takes 4 shots per game, I'd imagine 1-2 of those are offensive rebounds and maybe another 1 is maybe a PnR and then maybe 1-2 on post ups (probably when Edey is sitting)? The main point was that I don't think anybody would categorize Purdue's offense as a 3-out/double post offense. That's not their system.
  10. Regardless, that doesn't make Purdue a 2-post offense, and like I said I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone that would categorize them as such. A guy that plays 16mpg getting 1-2 post touches a game doesn't make them something they're not. The vast majority of their offense is Edey inside surrounded by 4 shooters.
  11. You're literally removing any/all context or nuance from the convo. People crucify Woodson for the two-post/big offense that for much of the season was almost exclusively run through the post. Surrounding that with almost no shooters and discouraging 3pt shots while long 2's get hoisted. I'm not sure anyone has said you can't win with inside-out. Everyone knows getting the ball in the paint is a good thing.
  12. I dont know, man. I don't watch them as much as you, but he's averaging 6ppg and I'd image some of those are from offensive rebounds, being scrappy, etc., so then were talking a basket or two tops from the post. Maybe? I dont know, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find many people that would describe Purdue's offense as a two-post offense. As @5 championships said, Gillis plays more than TKR and its a 4-out / 1-in offense.
  13. Yes and no. I'd imagine given how good Edey is that they actually rarely post-up TKR. He's mainly setting screens on and off the ball. Also, TKR starts but plays less minutes than Mason Gillis who is shooting nearly 50% from 3 at just over 3 attempts per game. But back to the real point, nobody hate an inside-out offense. Paint touches are critical in any basketball system. We hate two bigs clogging the lane offense with almost everything going through the post.
  14. The vast majority hate on the 2 bigs in the lane, run everything through the post offense. There's a difference.
  15. Yeah, and that's the point. Good teams largely blow out the really bad teams. IU didn't and early in the season it was a clear indicator that we were a mediocre at best team. Good teams largely don't get blown out numerous times by other good teams. This was another indicator that IU was a mediocre at best team. We can say it's silly that efficiency and point differential are dumb or whatever and the record is all that matters, but the above were clear indicators early on that IU wasn't a good team this year.
  16. Purdue has surrounded Edey with guys that shoot over 35% from the 3pt line. Their system and IU's are different.
  17. I can't even think for me in my own mind what I would need to see next year to regain faith in this staff. How can the admin even evaluate it?
  18. This is the problem now. What's the criteria for next year? What has to happen next season for Woodson to earn a 5th season? Like, if we squeak into the Tournament as a play-in team, does that mean Woodson has "improved" things? How bad does next year need to be for him to get fired?
  19. Nothing happened. Unfortunately, they announced Woodson is coming back. All the other stuff was just internet fodder.
