  1. So after having a night to reflect a little from the game here are a couple takeaways I saw... First the obvious...The officiating was suspect at best and comically horrendous at worst. I mean even when you have Purdue loving Robbie Hummel commenting that that arm fling was unnatural and poked Kopp in the eye and it should be at least a flagrant 1. I loved number 24 the next time down after Kopp got poked in the eye he was going to drive and thought better of it cause he was going to get "touched up". You could literally see Race and TJD waiting. Cause this is a family friendly site I'll use a better term for number 24 pansy! Also every time TJD was doubled he had his arm raked at least once or twice. It happened the same for Race as well. There were other egregious calls too. Not to mention all the holding calls on our guards that were not called on theirs. The start of the second half the whistles were finally starting to be normal both ways and you saw the lead drop quickly and Maryland be exposed. You could see the Maryland players starting to throw a fit cause they weren't getting the same calls. After that the game was over once they swallowed their whistles again. Everyone with eyes could see it and you could tell it in our players demeanor right around the 10 minute mark. Next I will give Maryland props. They game planned wonderfully and took us out of our game. When they double teamed TJD they took away the angle for TJD to make the pass to our open shooter on the same side. They made him make the cross court pass to the weak side or try and play hero ball. That resulted in alot of missed shots. Next they closed out hard on 3 point shooters and dared our players to drive past them. We have proven to now be competent from the outside to make teams respect us. So now we have to progress our game from there and put the ball on the floor and drive to create for our guys. We did not do that at all. They pressed us which made us feel uncomfortable all game. It played with our heads all game. Perfect example, JHS shot 1-14. TJD missed bunnies like he used to and even air balled. We also just took the ball up against the press rather than trying to break it. The one time we did break it we got an easy bunny for our bigs then we never went back to that. Lastly I'll wrap it up with everything else. First we have XJ hurt who we could have really used last night to break the press and bring a calm factor. Geronimo was really missed cause with his energy and rebounding it could have helped get more posessions. Also Race seems still not 100%. He seems to be gutting it out though. He needs relief. Next I was waiting for Woody to blow his top. I mean he really needed to channel his inner Bobby Knight. Part of me felt a let down game coming. The most frustrating thing though is this game seemed like a winnable game. Also can we not have a number next to our name. It seems we play better. O well. Onto a huge win on Saturday!
  2. Alright boys d up and let's go home with a W
  3. I love Rosemond saying if there's 25 better people in the draft than TJDI'll kiss your arse! Love it!
  4. I think Rosemond is going to be getting lessons from Woody when they get home!
  5. This Mickey Mouse operation might just make it over the hump! Big last 20 seconds. Get it to Kopp and make the free throws!
  6. Ok I'm late to the game where's Woody?
  7. I loved what one of the announcers said and I am paraphrasing, They are finding their identity and starting to be a team that is putting it together and that is without two of their starters. Honestly I hope and think that right there says it all
  8. How they play reminds me of an Emerson Lake and Palmer song. Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends.
  9. I admit I did not watch tonight's game cause after Northwestern I just have lost hope in this season. Also it's because I have a 3 month old and a 3 year old that won't stop watching Lol dolls. At least I can get some enjoyment seeing my daughter happy while I curse under my breath at whomever invented those dolls. They need to die a death by 1000 razor blade cuts. Haha. Only partially joking. I honestly think at this point it is a mental mindset that has been engrained in the players and unfortunately it keeps being passed along with each new class coming in. It started with Archie and has stuck. I really do hope they make me eat crow. Also if we are starting the fire Woody talks already I am wondering if we can give Kelvin Sampson a call for the job. Maybe it will break the curse. It was our self imposed sanctions from him over a few extra phone calls which are not even illegal now that got us in this mess. Albeit I didn't care for the shennanigans going on with the players. Maybe we have a similar curse like the Red Soxs being cursed after trading Babe Ruth.
  10. Anyone watch Woddys press conference? He lit into the refs! He was also not exactly happy with Fran McCaffery.
  11. Ok so I am going to be different and say B first but then I am going to pick C if I didn't pick B. The reason is that multiple final fours gets and keeps you in the media especially if it is once every 2 or 3 years. Take a look at Boy Wonder and Butler. It sets you up for successful recruiting nationally for the next 10 years after this first 10 years at least so I think it might. Just my 2 cents.
  12. Supposedly we are now in contact with Jacob Wilkins son of Dominique Wilkins. He is a 2025 6'7" 160lbs SF from Georgia. Apparently though I didn't see any rankings for him.
  13. Also don't bigs take longer to mature? Another thing is unless you see the big going up against other bigs of similar caliber it's hard to evaluate them cause a physically mature big that has a big 10 body will put up big numbers against 6'4" to 6'6" centers of other teams and makes it even harder to evaluate. Right?
  14. So what Fran-Con level are we at? I am not watching the game have a church function.
  15. 2026 Forward 6-7 225lbs. Supposedly IU is in contact with him alot. He grew up in Louisville so close to home but is a Tar Heels fan.
  16. I was just about to say which Fran con level are we going to be at and how much whining is he going to be doing to the refs.
  17. Also this has been a problem I have seen all year even with the cupcake teams Kennesaw State being the latest. Our 3 point defense is suspect cause of overhelping and slow changes. It has allowed teams to feel comfortable from the arc. This gives us a major problem when out offense isn't clicking. Not to mention trading 2s for 3s isn't a good tradeoff. Next point unfortunately I feel until we can recruit consistently and get balanced classes and balanced positions in those classes we will not be able to get back to a prominent status year in and year out. I like the Malik Reneu and JHS recruiting cause they are high level multi year players. We need 2 to 3 of those type of recruitments every year. We also need a legit big every year or every other year cause they normally take longer to mature and blossom. The last thing I see is we need an attitude change. We exemplified it earlier this year when we went to Xavier and won. There was a Boulder size chip on our shoulder a swagger a pit bull take no crap type mentality. After the Rutgers game we have regressed into our old ways of meekness it seems where if we are outside of Assembly Hall we don't play with confidence. We turned into a paper tiger. Geo Bakers quote really stuck with me on this. He said he wasn't worried about IU. We need to make teams doubt that they may even win on their own home court. We need to start winning the mental game instead of losing the mental game before it starts.
  18. I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I thought I was starting to go crazy. Thinking maybe I was either losing it or too many edibles and drinking have finally caught up! Haha.
  19. I will say I am on an android phone e Note 10 and I am still having scrolling problems like trying to toggle between pages!
  20. I laughed cause of Xs response of thinking its cute. Easy to say when you aren't playing with Rutgers anymore. Honestly in the Big you hold serve at home and win 5 to 7 games on the road. That is what gets you in Big 10 championship contention. So this is a huge game that will set the tone going forward. I feel IU plays to its strengths and they adapt within their own strengths to what the other team has to offer up as a counterpunch. While our 3 point% isn't the best I think we can still operate efficent enough to keep teams honest. I feel this game is going to get chippy and honestly become very ugly quickly. There is no love lost between these two teams. Also with the type of bully ball both teams play it will become very physical. I love the attitude that X JHS and Galloway are bringing to this team. They don't seem to be too flappable either. Hopefully our team comes out and absolutely throttles them and runs up the score. It'll be good practice for our younger guys down the bench to get some experience playing against a stifling defense if that happens. Honestly I am just excited to see this team gel together and get back to winning ways. Woody has set a winning culture it seems like. I also love the post game interviews. Already on to the next game and one game at a time. That is it. Love it.
