So what about the food? Did you have any Bildong on your hikes? How about BOBOTIE or bunny chow? When I’ve traveled before I always wanted to have some of the local cuisine. Well except for England maybe?🤔

The food was awesome. Funny thing was my first meal there was KFC at midnight. After traveling for a day we said we were hungry and that is what they picked up, lol.

Had 4 braiis. Grilled fish, steak, lamb, etc was all great. Had some Biltong, springbok carpoccio, poikie and some other stuff. Didn't try the bobotie. The fish and especially the calamari were really good. The cool thing is food is really cheap there due to the strength of the $. Had Chateaubriand (which was excellent!) for like $20.

Housing is also cheap due to so many people leaving the country. If it wasn't half way around the world and had reliable utilities and medical care, it would be a great place to retire.

Awesome trip! Too bad the beer wasn't better, but there's always fun and worth in trying new things. Every brewpub has it's own charm.

It was an epic trip. My wife bought a pint glass from Shackleton that has a penguin on it. I've already been told not to use that one when guests come over. Strictly for her.

  3. The wineries were awesome. Stopped at 6 wineries. Did 4 tastings. Brought home 4 bottles. Groot Constantia is the oldest in the country dating back to the 1600s. Napoleon drank their wine! Some of these wineries were incredible. Never been to Napa Valley but might have to check it out for a comparison now.

  4. I'd love a vacation to Mobile. Drinking beer while playing in the water sounds fun. I'd also recommend waders if you are going to be in the water awhile. Never been there. Unfortunately I don't think that trip will be in the cards for awhile.

This is great. The only thing that makes me nervous is that he’s in remission from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Missed the entire season before last year due to chemo treatments. Hopefully it’s 100% behind him.

Mario Lemeuix won an NHL scoring title in 1992 while missing time and playing through Hodgkin’s radiation treatments….and both medical science and training techniques have come a long way since then. If the docs are giving him the all clear, I’d assume he’s full speed ahead.

I had a family member with it 20+ years ago. I'll echo @Zlinedavid in saying that medical advances have improved outcomes a lot since then. They used to say you were cured after 5 years of remission. Don't know if that is still the case but if he has regained his strength and cardio, or once he does, I'd expect him to be 100%.

  6. Highly recommend the right shoes for hiking. I have one pair of hiking boots but generally prefer hiking shoes. I got a pair of Merrell trail runners for my trip to Africa. Super comfortable. Think light weight sneakers with good traction. Those and my keen sandals were all I needed for 2 weeks.

Wife and I hiked Lions Head in Cape Town yesterday.

The total lack of perimeter scoring feels so uncharacteristic. Going to need something from more than just Mack and Parrish. Hoping Sara or Yarden can get it going. They're due
