Its the best we have and a really good indicator of things. Not much else to discuss about that.
You can’t use a statistic based on data after an event to then predict that event.

I can’t remember all of them off the top of my head. But Duke was in the 50s in D at the start of the 2015 tourney.
When I looked it up all of them started the tourney with 1 stat in top 25. So thats the real key

Iowa is a pretty good offensive team. The Sandfort kid can shoot, and Keegan Murray's twin brother Kris can play...not as good as Keegan, but pretty good...
But, like Iowa teams of the past, can they guard?
I don’t know if they can. I just know starting in February they won’t

This article is 4 years old but has data on a long list of former champs. Kembas Uconn was the outlier. Everyone else had adj o and d inside top 19.
New article. https://vendettasportsmedia.com/using-kenpom-predict-2021-22-ncaa-basketball-champion/
That’s end of the year ranks. Which as I stated is a faulty way to look at it since winning 6 games is going to naturally raise your Kenpom ranks
-
If you check Kenpom stats for eventual champs prior to the touneys starting there are quite a few who have one or more stats out of the top 25.
Winning 6 straight games against tourney teams has the effect of raising those values

It would be interesting to see how they feel now....
I would still caution getting too excited just yet. Remember Romeos year? I Believe we started 12-2 and we all thought we were back.
Woody might work out but it’s a different skill set to be successful in college vs the NBA.

I would assume that his prediction is based off the assumption that IU is a larger brand than the average Div 1 school and our basketball team in general has a greater following. Thus, skewing the value higher for our athletes. As far as I know no numbers have been shared for our athletes.
Yep I have heard TJD alone is at 6 figures but that’s just talk.

As of July, average NIL transaction was $471. No, I didn't leave any 0's off

That’s average it’s likely our athletes skew higher.

This will be his 4th year of school. He should be a senior but he's got a covid year. All those guys will have been in college at least 4 years and there is no guarantee that they will come back.
I imagine the NLI will dramatically increase the number of guys who stick around as long as possible.

I love single elimination...
Especially last night 😁
In all seriousness, I think it should be just one game...you didn't win your division, so we're giving you a shot...Mano y mano...1 game...
Look at the NCAA tournament and how exciting that is...
That’s different everybody is single elimination there and yeah they didn’t win their divisions. Both both teams won more games than the braves. Heck the Dodgers won 18 more game the braves.
I think it needs restructured at least. Division winners get a spot with the next two best records also getting in. Worst two records playing the single elimination game. So would have been Braves/Cards last night

You will never convince me single elimination baseball is a good idea.

16 in a row! Umps almost blew it for the Cards in the 9th lol that was a crazy play.
Just got to see that play. It constantly amazes me how players and umps don’t know the rules.

How were we the #20 class prior to Jalen when Gunn and Banks are both ranked over 100?
Not a lot of kids committed would be my guess but honestly don’t know

His revenue potential is higher than any of the other 3. If you go by total program revenue. We’ve sucked for years and our program revenues are more than twice any of theirs.

I get that but the whole reason to jump to the league has been to make money. That is now an option in college. Decisions will be a little different moving forward depending on the draft slot projections for players.
Yep agreed. Players who are stars on teams like IU will no longer leave unless they are surefire first rounders.

Kenpom weights for more recent games. So yes 6 games will massively skew your Kenpom ranking if they are your last 6 games
