  1. I actually suggested moving the conversation to the Mike Woodson megathread since he isn't being fired. There can be a lot of pro and con conversation that doesn't involve firing.
  2. It's interesting. Checked out Rupp Rafters. There were some longtime posters who had signed off and were basically done with KY basketball until Cal was gone. They are back this AM and celebrating. The overall tone on RR, at least, is relief and excitement, it seems. We'll see how long that lasts based on who they hire.
  3. No, I get it. It's just frustrating that teams used to lose a game at AH before it was even played. Now teams come in and rain threes at AH (didn't start with CMW as we all know). There's no intimidation factor anymore. And speaking of the Rutgers punks, look at how Harper Jr, trolled IU during his on-campus visit. That's total disrespect. The whole program needs to look at how to get back to being feared. And by the way, it isn't a hobby for me. Unlike some who are fans of IU basketball, I graduated from there, so I have more invested than others. When I was in my 20s, I used to be able to recite stats on the team and players verbatim. Lived and breathed it. Don't tell me I shouldn't care about IU basketball and do something else.
  4. Yeah, that’s what did it Geo Baker: “Nobody is looking at Indiana like ‘oh man, we got to get ready to play Indiana.’ “Indiana, for me, at Rutgers, when we were playing Indiana, we knew we were going in with a win. That was our mindset.”
  5. I think Smith and Loyer fold under the pressure. Bama’s guards are better, but they couldn’t pull it off. Shot really well in first half and were still down 4. At half, Hurley said they just needed to get Bama to crack. They know they can impose their will. Love that attitude
  6. NCST has totally outplayed Purdue. They just can’t make shots
  7. NC ST has missed so many wide open shots
  8. If Purdue survives NC ST, they’ll get destroyed by UConn. Their guards have been exposed again
  9. I could see these coaches kids being told by Dad to go out and see how much you can get paid. There’s probably some political pressure around maxing out the coach’s kid
  10. And this is so important from an overall program perspective: Moren has had 20+ win seasons since year 2. But she raised it to another level in year 6 at the age of 49. She’s still only 54, so the program can look forward to another decade of success and stability
  11. I was going to say the same. Consistently ranked in the top 20 or better. Single digit loss seasons. Competing for top three in conference. Make NCAAT every year, with S16 appearances and teams that could go deeper
  12. Think about this: McNeely at MI, Queen at MD and Harper at Rutgers
  13. Bradshaw has a higher ceiling but a lower floor. Not a good rebounder and doesn't like contact. The foot surgery is scary.
  14. IDK. He also is putting his name in the NBA draft. The one selling point IU has is getting centers to the League
  15. Ah, but there's the rub. They aren't employees. They are "amateur" athletes. The intent of NIL was to allow student athletes to be compensated for the use of their name, image or likeness. If a university was selling jersey's with the player's name for example. Or to allow social media savvy athletes like Livvy Dunn to make money from her image. Instead, you now have bidding wars for non-contractual players who are being paid to play. That isn't healthy for college athletics. "They call [Townsend] Mr. Oakland here, but … the only reason he's got another year is the COVID year. So, he gave us four years. He's got his degree," Kampe said. "He's going to get offered so much money and I can't [match that]. We've got a 'Keep Trey Townsend Fund' going from our [NIL] collective, and we might be able to get $40-50,000 in there, but he's looking at $250-300,000 from what I'm being told. So, it's going to be hard for me to tell him to stay."
  16. Agreed. Williams, Rice and Carlyle could be an elite defensive team, but scoring could be a challenge
  17. CAA Defensive POY three straight years. One year of eligibility.
  18. Never. Officials don't want to call three seconds. I read an article from last year where Chris Holtmann said after a game against Purdue that the rule should just be eliminated because the officials won't call it. He said Purdue knows at the most, it would be called once a game, so they just keep running what they do. “Listen, I was on the officials the entire game. I really do think that needs to be evaluated whether or not you keep that rule in the rulebook. Because if it’s not gonna be enforced, why is it in fact in the rulebook?” Holtmann said. “And clearly, it’s not a rule that is enforced. He does a good job at times of dancing in and out, but more times than not, it’s clear. And listen, give them credit. They know it’s not going to get called. And if at the very most, it’s gonna get called once a game, at the very most. And most times it won’t.” Well, what they’re saying is, ‘Hey, they’re not gonna call it more than once at the most, so why wouldn’t we just park him there?’ It’s smart on their part. And what we’ve got to do is be able to adjust better, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
  19. Right, but it doesn't reset by making a move to the basket. For example, if a player is in the lane 2 seconds, catches a pass, dribbles toward the basket for 3 seconds (5 total) and puts up a shot, no violation. If he does the exact same, but instead of shooting, he passes to a cutter, it's a violation.
  20. Actually it doesn't reset when the player has the ball. It only resets if he makes an attempt to score. If he sets up in the lane and receives a pass, holds the ball and doesn't make a move to the basket, it's a violation. An allowance is made to continue a count but suspend a violation ruling when, before 3 seconds, an offensive player starts to attempt to score (including dribbling to the basket). If the move is directly completed, no violation can occur. However, if the move is aborted (e.g. by a pass or fake), no exception applies.
