If you have any hopes our women can beat South Carolina, do not turn it to ESPN. They are up 56-15 against UNC. Still in 2nd quarter,
The committee really hated us for some reason. Paired us with a top 25 team for our first game, the outright Big 12 champion for our second game, then South Carolina if we make it there. Just brutal.

Believe it when I see it. Easy to say until you have the money sitting there in front of you.
Painter was pretty adamant that he won't be back when he was asked about it. I doubt he would have oversigned this class if he felt Edey coming back was even a remote possibility.

Wisconsin shot 26% in the first half with 13 turnovers. Did we ever have a 20-minute stretch that bad?

The fans I talk to in-person don't believe in Woodson anymore but they also fear firing him too soon will make it impossible to find a proper replacement.
It amazes me how many of our fans have been conditioned to think this way. I never hear this from any other fanbase.

Quite a day yesterday. Hadn't heard thunder since September, and my area was in a severe thunderstorm watch, a tornado watch, two severe thunderstorm warnings and two tornado warnings over the course of the day.

There were counties in southwest Michigan that were under a tornado warning just 4 hours before a winter weather advisory went into effect.
As usual, nothing in my neck of the woods. We don't really get weather anymore; it's just hot or cold.

Are the players letting the athletic department this
I think when this many players are unhappy, it forces the AD's hand because at that point, the toxicity has gotten out of control.
The high school I went to had to replace a coach last year after three seasons. His first two years they had a couple guys quit, and I felt it was just kids who weren't tough enough. Then last year, they had three seniors quit at different times during the season, one of whom was a two-year starter. That was a huge red flag, and convinced me the coach needed to go. About two weeks after the season ended, he "resigned." I say resigned, meaning, it was probably a forced resignation, because the athletic director was in retirement mode and the school board president said after praying about it, he felt it was best to stay the course. My best guess was they felt they risked not having a team this year because so many players were done with that staff.
Really never thought it would come to this with Woodson. A year ago yesterday, we won at Purdue. Amazing how fast things can change.

Big Ten refs are the worst. Maryland kid finished a layup in traffic and yelled And 1 and the ref gave him a Tech.
Just ridiculous.
I remember that happening to Tom Pritchard at Nebraska once. Naturally, we ended up losing by one point.

I liked it when Holmes stuffed Stuelke and then let her hear about it, and when Clark got mouthy after a foul and Garzon dished it back. Sensing that you're rooting for the tougher team is a terrific feeling.

One thing to consider, and I don't generally like making personnel decisions as a result of what others are doing, but there is a world where we are surrounded by:
Painter at PU
Billy Donovan at UL
Chris Beard at UM
Nate Oates at OSU
Brad Underwood at UI
Calipari at UK
Izzo at MSU
That would be a tough situation to walk into for a guy like Dusty May in March/April 2025. Again, not saying we need to be reactive to other openings and who they may hire, but I don't think it should be ignored.
As someone wisely pointed out when we hired Woody, he is our version of Juwan Howard and Thad Matta was his Martelli. Let's not follow the folly of Michigan and wait to long to act.
I'd probably just throw in the towel on IU basketball if all of these happened and we kept Woodson.

Must be one of those "better-mannered" fans that Will Berg was talking about.
The saddest part is, this Purdue fan seriously won't understand why he got blocked.
-
Niners needed that touchdown. Zero chance this game ends with Mahomes not converting a 4th down or turning it over.

Heck of a job by the Niners' o-line to not even bother blocking on a play that could win the Super Bowl.

Getting an early start on drought season this year. No rain or snow in over 2 weeks and rain chances over the next 10 days are minimal. A lot of yellow lawns out there right now.
I usually don't mind having a few days of unseasonably warm weather in February, but this mild spell lasting over a week is messing with my internal clock and making me think it's already spring. Kind of wish we'd get some snow just to sort of normalize things.

I'm sure Purdue fans are burning up social media tonight trying to justify those laughable numbers. They'd be better off counting their blessings and just going to bed.

14 years ago was Crean's second season...I had a hunch I knew what game it was, and I was right: a 58-43 home loss to Iowa. We actually had a stretch of good play before that game and then royally crapped the bed. There were rumors later on that most of the team had stayed at a party until 5 a.m. the night before the game.

It wouldn't ever be a result of a coach, though, right? They only vote on the Top 20 across all classes. These mistakes are always the media.
I guess I was thinking football. I'm not sure who actually casts these votes.
Whoever they are, somebody gave 2-10 Southern Wells a vote this week, and apparently people voted for a school that closed 4 years ago.

The whole Dusty May thing drives me nuts. If he didn't attend IU we would he insulted by anybody suggesting he should be the coach at IU.
He has a decent overall record, with ONE high level result. One!!!
But he is somehow the future?
Maybe he will become great. But he has no track record to speak of. One good season.
Furthermore, look where he eas in his 3rd season at FAU. He was no better year three than Woodson is now at IU.
I just don't get it.
How he would fit at IU is more important to me than his prior results. I think Dusty May understands what he'd be getting into and what is expected here. Archie Miller wasn't ready for this and it was obvious from day one. Mike Davis was overwhelmed by that pressure as well. Mike Woodson looks burned out and coaches either like it's 1980 or he's still in the NBA, sometimes both.
I don't think anyone should be insulted by the consideration of May. The pool of coaches we could realistically select from isn't getting bigger with time.

Does the staff not even look at data at all?
I'm not convinced they do. They would say they do if someone asked, but I'm not sure they care enough to try and understand any of it. If they did, they would realize we take too many shots just inside the arc and hit a low percentage of them, and would then address it by telling these guys to stop taking those shots. But they don't. Woodson is stuck in 1980 where 3's didn't exist and efficiency wasn't a thing yet.

Back just in time to play against IU. Sigh.
Probably making up for the multiple games we had early in the season where our opponent's best player was out and we barely won.

That was either an accident or someone just being stupid.
I've found that it's usually the result of coaches selecting from a drop-down menu and tapping the adjacent team instead of the one they meant to choose. But in this case I can't figure out who they meant to vote for.

I think people tend to forget Wisconsin has a national title (1941). That's probably why they snuck in at 25.
