  1. Apparently Craig Teagle resigned from New Albany less than 2 months after taking the job and is now heading to Bluffton to replace Adam Gray...who also resigned less than 2 months after being hired. 🤔
  2. The weather group I follow loves roasting the crazy people who complain all the time and I'm here for it:
  3. Thought the Tigers might get their first win of the month today, but they gave up 4 runs in the top of the 9th and lost 7-5. 22 runs in the last 10 games. Who needs offense, anyway?
  4. You have a very strange take on this.
  5. Not a single team from northeast Indiana made the state finals for baseball or softball this year.
  6. Looks like the NL Central was just what the doctor ordered for the A's...now 16-50 after winning 4 of their last 5 against the Pirates and Brewers.
  7. I've never experienced air this dry in the summer. The humidity has been around 20-30% for the past week or so. We need rain in the worst way.
  8. And today, the "who needs offense, anyway?" Tigers erupted for a couple runs, lost on a walk-off grand slam and got swept.
  9. I think they'll be a 2 seed and lose in the second weekend.
  10. The Detroit "who needs offense, anyway?" Tigers have 1 run in their last 21 innings and lost to the White Sox today on a walk-off wild pitch.
  11. The Eagle has landed: a brief thunderstorm moved through this afternoon. First rain in 15 days and first thunder in 22 days. No rain predicted for another week at least.
  12. If I had to guess, the greeter probably isn't trained or skilled enough to manage the checkout lanes. I had that happen once, where I couldn't get an item to scan, so I asked the greeter if she could help, but she didn't have a clue how to fix the issue. Unfortunately, I've worked in a place where we had less talented/skilled people in more visible places due to staff availability or other issues at the time, so I've seen this before.
  13. Are any of those three even going to start? You're probably like a lot of fans when their team adds new players, not really knowing what they will give you, but just assuming they'll all provide something you didn't have before or meaningfully contribute in some way. I'd say it's far more likely that at least one of them won't be seeing the court much by the start of January, possibly even more than one.
  14. Miguel Cabrera went 3 for 3 last night and raised his average 27 points. Look out, Mendoza Line, Miggy is coming for you!!!
  15. My annual drought count is back: 11 days since we last had rain, 18 days since we last heard thunder. Minimal chances of thunderstorms for the next week. The weather people I follow are concerned it may not rain again until the second week of June.
  16. While we're on the subject of gym pet peeves, here's another: people who talk on their phones and constantly repeat themselves. I also get easily annoyed by people who talk too much and have a voice that carries throughout the gym so you hear everything they're saying no matter where they are. The gym I go to is pretty good on the weekends, because then it's usually just people who want to get their lift done and get out. During the week, there are always people working with trainers, and some of them apparently like being noticed.
  17. I think pro athletes are more resilient and have shorter memories than people give them credit for. I recall the Pacers losing two playoff games on Lebron buzzer beaters but bouncing back to win the next game, one of which was in Miami.
  18. Two questions I have from that game: 1) How did Drew VerHagen end up with the Cardinals? 2) How is he still in the big leagues? He was a human gas can with the Tigers.
  19. I think some of it may be that some of these guys grew up playing baseball year-round and threw too much at an early age.
  20. Store departments/employees not communicating on what should be very basic stuff. I went to Walmart the other day for groceries and decided to get a bag of garden soil. Before I went in, I looked up the letter/number and the price from the bags that were sitting out in the parking lot so I could tell the cashier what I wanted. I tell the cashier while she's checking out my groceries, and she starts looking through all these binders trying to find it. She had to go find another employee, who gave her the correct binder with the prices for lawn and garden items. She starts leafing through it and then informs me that she's sorry, but that item is sold out. I told her no it's not, I was just out there and there's a whole pallet with bags of soil. She then informs me she can't sell it to me because there's a sticker covering the barcode and she doesn't know what to do. I asked if there was someone else she could call. We get a customer service worker who radioes the lawn and garden department to confirm the soil is there, and he removes the sticker so she can scan the barcode. He sighs and says "I wish they would tell us when they get stuff."
  21. Dairy Queen is horrible about this. I've rearranged the order in which I ask for food and no matter how I do that or how many times I say it, they still get it wrong. On the rare occasion they get it right, there's usually some other little mistake, like two top buns for the burger or no spoon for the ice cream. I used the KFC drive-thru recently and the lady ahead of me must have talked for a solid five minutes for an order that totaled about 8 dollars and change.
  22. The NBA has to be breathing a huge sigh of relief after last night. Both conference finals being sweeps and not having any games for a whole week would have been a PR nightmare. Now the possibility of an historic comeback gives them something to work with. Expect Boston to get a very friendly whistle in Game 5 and possibly Game 6 as well.
  23. Almost had a hitter get his average to .300 recently. Almost.
