Last week in the morning I drove from Indy to Kokomo and back to Indy. In the after noon I went from Indy to Salem then back to Indy. Actually was in Brownstown twice last week.

That's easy compared, incredibly easy, compared to the drive we're talking about. 4-5 hours ish round trip for all of that.

I like the drive from Indy to Kokomo.

Driving, no, but the same plane that went to Laporte from Bloomington this morning at 6 am, landed at Indy regional (12 northeast of the city) about an hour ago...short drive to Greenfield...

Be looking for a flight plan from Indy regional to Huntingburg airport this afternoon

Yes, I agree. makes perfect sense lol

no wonder our recruiting budget dwarfs everyone else's budget.  Can't even drive for in-state visits lol

3.5hr drive Bloomington to LaPorte-- 215 miles

2hr 55 min drive LaPorte to Greenfield- 170 miles

3hr 5min drive Greenfield to Heritage Hills- 165 miles

It's not even doable in a day.

How confident are we that Goode is coming? For some reason I don’t feel good about this…we’ve been fooled by the portal before. Just a few days ago Essegian was a done deal, and look how that turned out.

I have no idea, Jamie Shaw seems pretty confident, though.

I still think we need to find a true point guard. Rice may be an OK part time at the 1, Cupps isn't even close to being a true PG (yet), and I'd rather have Gallo @ 2-3.

We've got the opening, just need to fill it. Seems like most of the attention in the portal is 2-5 positions. (we needed those as well, but I'd like a knock down shooter point guard)

I fail to see any mins left at the 1-3, especially if Goode is added. Heck, the backup roles are already filled in those spots, as well.

Overall, I like the potential versatility. We have a lot of multi-positional players. The question on everybody's mind is how versatile Woody will get and what combos will work defensively.

    Gallo 1-2-3
    Carylle 1-2
    MM 3-4
    Malik 4-5
    Tucker 2-3
    Goode (fingers crossed) 3-4

Ballo will probably only play the 5. And while Rice may be able to play off the ball, I'd imagine he'd be the primary ball handler at the 1 when he's on the court.

We always say we hav a lot of depth at this time of year, but at least on paper, it seems that we can show the opposition a lot of different looks.

Not to dive too much into this, since it's the expectations thread, but I think he (CMW) could really make life easier on himself... by just getting Malik/Ballo out of the game early--- 16/17 minute mark-- get one of them out, get TG in...

Bring the other back in at the 13/14 minute mark when the other one needs a break... and then go from there. The caveat is Malik's foul trouble, while it improved drastically from his FR year-- there's still work to be done... at the same time, I don't think Malik needs to average much over 28/29 mins anyway, he was at that mark this past season.

IF Goode commits (haven’t seen anything definitive) would that crack open the door of recruiting Ft Wayne?

would it help any more than Matt Roth being a head coach in Fort Wayne? probably too de minimis

There isn't some plethora of D1 basketball recruits coming out of FW anyway.

    Football on the other hand....

Paragraph #1: You're playing the hindsight game.  A lot of players make a substantial Freshman to Sophomore leap.  And, Kaleb Banks flashed some potential in multiple games his freshman season.

Paragraph 2:  Whether it turned out to be the correct decision or not, those that saw CJ Gunn in practice thought he deserved a Sophomore year.  Guys like you and I didn't see him in practice.  Your overall argument condemns Woodson for bringing Gunn back, yet you admit he had an advantage in the ability to evaluate and make a decision.  You're using a contradiction to support your message.

Those types of players can usually dribble.  I am not the D1 HC that offered Indiana fans one of the more shit seasons in its history by trusting Gunn and others.

I see little that contradicts that. Terrible decisions by our staff and our terrible development. One of those two stick, you can choose which one.

I think most people came to the conclusion that both banks and Gunn had issues by the end of the last season.  I was much less sure after watching their freshman seasons.

Props to you for owning that one...I couldn't help but laugh as I will when it's my turn to eat a comment.

I loved the idea of him being 6'6, etc etc... but that one little comment isn't the same as Woodson and staff seeing an entire years worth of data and practices and then keeping him. But this is just a piece of the complaint.. it was all 4 of those guys plus Newton, plus XJ, plus empty scholly. All of that combined.
