I don’t know why it surprises me that no foul is EVER called on Edey. BTW announcers UCONN IS PLAYING TOO.

I think with a little creativity (very little) by the staff Galloway/Tucker and Mbacko could play together both as threes. Is there really that much difference between a three and a stretch four? Guess I don’t think that the 1-5 positioning system has to be set in stone. Almost every team’s lineup composition forces them to sacrifice something to gain something else…..rebounding, ball handling shooting etc. Personally I would like to se more emphasis on shooting because of what that could do for Reneau. I guess that’s why we have Avery well paid staff- to figure that out.

Good to see the tournament is just like the regular season- Purdue never fouls and always gets fouled.

Wasn’t in any way, shape or form comparing Malik to TJD. Very few players have ever exceeded TJD’s athleticism and defensive effort. My point was that some of Malik’ deficiencies- poor/selfish offensive decision making and below average rebounding can, hopefully, be significantly improved. If they are improved, the team’s ceiling goes up. Nothing really to do with Trayce.

Really good point and I think some of his glaring weaknesses can be improved upon. Just passing the ball out of triple teams will be a good start and I think Malik can become a serviceable to very good three point shooter. Malik’s rebounding will improve dramatically with an improved motor and I think that will happen with more experience.

I’m in the camp that Woodson should be gone, not because of this years record, but because of the terrible trajectory of the program. The question I have for those of you who are in contact with lots of IU fans on a daily basis (I am not): How does the non-message board crowd generally feel about the situation? My feeling is a change is a no brainer but am I just in a message board echo chamber?

And supposedly already putting together a “staff familiar to IU fans”. Whoever that means.

Also Cupp’s dad is one of the most respected coaches in Ohio and would be very concerned with the culture of the program in which his son plays. His Centerville program is known as one of the most fundamentally sound and solid programs that there is. This year would have to be a major change for Gabe.

Usually I want to watch any IU game but I hope not. My heart can’t take watching a half assed effort without Ware etc. I’d rather have them stay home.

Johnson could have lobbed it up, didn’t, and Ware looked at him and shook his head and glared over at the bench. Ironically right after announcers quoted Woodson as saying Johnson’s leadership was key to the little winning streak.

Anyone notice Ware’s look at Johnson after that missed layup. Not good. Sinking (sunk) ship.

I know offense looks worse when shots don’t go in but the offense is especially stagnant tonight. I don’t know……..maybe some movement would help. A team with a pulse is going to attack the big men like crazy because of: 1. Poor shooting 2. Terrible passing out of the post 3. No movement AT ALL. It is the 33rd game right. Nebraska’s shooting is crazy but IUs offense is beyond pitiful. Just wow.

Defense improves substantially without Mbacko and Reneau in together.

Apparently not allowed to call timeout in the BIG tourney. Have to wait for a TV time out no matter what.

Reneau doesn’t play consistently hard except when he has the ball.

Sorry if already covered but why the need to officially announce that a coach who is under contract for two or three more years will be back? Isn’t he back until he is fired\retires? No need for an announcement. A “vote of confidence” maybe. I understand the rumors and media pressure of yesterday might have forced an announcement but that just further weakens the position of the pro Woodson crowd. If he’s your guy silence would suffice. Sorry for all of the questions but I am truly confused.

1. Emphasize GUARD play. Tournament success is, and almost always has been predicated on great guard play. 2. Recruit/ portal to a system based on slashing and shooting. 3. Defensive flexibility based on personnel but always based on guarding 3 point line and rebounding. 4. Distant 4th- Be a coach that can help to bring the BIG into the 21st century regarding style of play that translates to tournament success.

Should be plenty of available playing time.

I don’t know. I guess whoever is the coach next year or who the players are, I’ll root for IU. I feel the same frustration as many but I will still pull for the team I’ve supported for years. I think next year could go either way whether Woody is here or not. There will potentially be some pieces that could be pretty good. It is obviously a guard’s game and that is the area in which the most improvement is essential. Hopefully we will see some personnel improvements and some scheme changes that will help. Go IU!!!!
