  1. If we could get the guards to start hitting some shots this could be a really tough team. Reneau and Ware have the ability to spread the floor and are good down low. The guards start hitting and you got a problem if you are the defense.
  2. If that is my teammate, we are fighting.
  3. I just saw that pop up in my feed. Diamond was responding to someone who posted that and said, "Hey, glad so many of you liked that but I actually got in trouble for it." He is still pretty supportive of IU and makes that clear further down, he thinks the school needed to do some things to help the program though. Pretty interesting read through if you click on that and have a Twitter account so you can see everything.
  4. Looks good on paper. Hope he can work his magic here.
  5. Almost everyone willing to come to IU will. Coaching is a fickle thing. I think there are a few coaches (like Bob Knight) who just know their sport so well that even when kind of mailing it in, they can still be successful. Others look like geniuses when the right pieces are in place but look less so when some things change (Bill Belichik). There isn't going to be one guy that will walk in here and you will be able to say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, we got our guy.
  6. So here is a thought I have had about that very thing. If you were an outside the box thinker at the AD, it would almost be in your best interest to offer a deal like the following to several of your large donors. We are about to embark on a large building spree for say football. We would normally be coming to you looking for a large donation to help fund that for naming rights. However, in lieu of that, we would like to request a $100,000 donation to the school for naming rights and then the type of donation that got made to put the Simon-Skjodt name on Assembly Hall instead be made to Hoosiers For Good. You want a huge NIL endowment that you can invest and then you supplement all the year to year NIL donations with 75% of the gains from the endowment each year. For instance, say you are able to cobble together an initial endowment of $100 million. At a usually modest return of 7% you are now sitting on $107 million. Fund the next year's NIL with $5.25 million and you still have $101.75 million left over. A 7% gain on that would yield $7,122,500 in gains. Take 75% of that and you have $5.34 million to plug into NIL and your endowment has grown to $103,530,625. You wouldn't be competing with the Ohio State's in football right off the bat but that money would continue to grow until you were. It also keeps you from having to constantly fundraise for NIL with those high dollar people and they get their name on a building to boot.
  7. My opinion, no matter who is picked we will have a few days of bellyaching. Then people will come along with facts and stats that show why whomever we picked is actually a pretty good fit. Everyone will get on board and we will all be good until the first perceived mistake or loss.
  8. The only people making this a clown show are the Twitter people. The school is 3 days into a coach search. They are fine. Everyone speculating on this or that coach and turning that into some referendum on the school are acting dumb.
  9. He was talking on defense as well. You could see on a couple of occasions where he was telling one of the younger guys where they should be on switches.
  10. It was Thanksgiving weekend, a "blah" opponent, and overcharging for the tickets to same. Attendance at sporting events isn't what it used to be and the performance of this program has taken a toll, even on a fanbase like Indiana. We used to get butts in the seats around the holidays for 2 games like this in Indianapolis but that is a harder sell for where the program currently sits, particularly at reportedly $80/seat. This is the type of game that alumni families that couldn't get tickets in Bloomington used to bring the kids to. $320 for a family of 4 to just walk in the building to watch a game against Harvard is a hard sell.
  11. Solid win. Nice game from the front line, good to see Mgbako put some points up. Thought Leal gave us some decent defensive minutes as well. Still need to shore some things up but I won't belabor that.
  12. At some point we are going to have to learn to integrate the 3 pt line into what we do on both the offensive and defensive side.
  13. Our 3 point defense is just infuriating.
  14. That is fair, but I think they would get more quality out of their minutes if they played with a starter or 2 on the floor at same time.
  15. Nice to see some shots falling for Mgbako.
  16. ARE is a great IU ambassador and was a really good player for us. Hiring him would be a totally IU thing to do and would also probably be a massive mistake.
  17. I have no faith they won't mess this up. I hope I am proven completely wrong but Indiana is just awful at all things football.
  18. We didn't stack #1 teams. Knight usually had a 4 to 5 year build to a Championship caliber team with good teams in between.
  19. Look, we have things to work on. A whole lot of things. That said, I believe this is the first game where we beat the spread and we got positive minutes out of a bunch of our bench. If that trajectory speeds up a bit, we could be alright. We still need to find some shooters to keep things honest on the interior, we still need to work on defensive rotations, and Mgbako needs to figure things out. We have to see the aggressiveness in going after boards the way our second team got after it yesterday. For as bad as we have played, we are still chalk at this point IMO. As long as we keep winning the game we are supposed to win as we learn, we give ourselves a chance if/when we figure things out. For us to be where we want to be in March and April though, we have to figure those things out.
  20. For a fan base that grew up on Bob Knight (for many of us), all the complaining about negativity. He literally wrote a book about how negativity is a good thing...
