  1. Really criticized him in a way you don't normally see those guys do if they want access. Took him to task for, in so many words, basically being kind of lazy about recruiting. Again, that isn't first hand as I don't have the premium with Peegs but that is a Reader's Digest take on how I saw it presented.
  2. I don't disagree. My mind is made up. There are people who aren't though. And some who aren't in the "we need to move on" category have some influence. And you also have to factor in that this is just message board tea leaves reading and people tend to build their own soap operas based on the info they have.
  3. I don't have Peegs access but apparently Rabjohns delivered a broadside on Woodson this afternoon specifically related to your last point.
  4. So Fife kind of got humbled as he was getting run over by the Indiana propaganda network so we never really heard his defense on that. We just have a bunch of people speculating based on what the IU propaganda machine said. I think there is some merit to saying, "Hey, if NIL is the only reason you want to be here, this probably isn't the place for you." I think we have gotten a bit of that recently with some of the guys on the team and it isn't working. What Indiana is offering in NIL should be the cherry on top, but there are a whole host of other reasons you would want a kid to have your program up on his list beyond what you can pay him. When people talk about "culture", I think our apparent current lack of it relates to the idea that all we are selling right now is a paycheck. Since that is guaranteed there isn't much incentive to play to the whole team. All you need to do is show how good you are so that the next level notices. Fife may not have had that completely right, but he isn't completely wrong either. On the politics, he wasn't the only one being political on that team. The whole BLM thing was being pushed and Fife wasn't bought in to that movement. Many of us aren't. That is why I would prefer that the team stay out of politics.
  5. That was just cope after the hire was made. I think that has happened with the past few hires. Initially you have a bit of reticence because of X,Y, and Z but I think deep down most of us want things to work here. So after the initial disappointment or questioning of the decision, most fans start looking for reasons to get on board.
  6. Internet has been around over 30 years. Even the "You've got mail" players are approaching 50. I don't think 60 and 70 year olds are as in tune to the modern realities of college athletics like the younger guys.
  7. One of the players parents liked a tweet questioning why the Indiana coaches were not out the other night. Showing up is a big part of recruiting whether you want to acknowledge that or not. The kids these days want to feel the love and have a connection with staff. There are other things that factor in too, obviously, but denying that presence plays a pretty significant part is just denying reality.
  8. I don't know, be a bad way to build a following for content you charge money for.
  9. I hate Wisconsin. Take the L with your dumb ass hair.
  10. Maybe. Cig hasn't coached a game yet (although so far so good). The point being that the Big Ten is wide open for the taking right now. Purdue and Wisconsin aren't really big mountains to climb for a good coach at Indiana. Izzo is trending down. Michigan is in a bigger rut than we are. Ohio State is starting over. Maryland is in the toilet. UCLA's coach wants out because of lack of NIL resources. None of the other PAC schools really move the basketball needle. That is what is so frustrating about this. Get a coach who knows how to do this, give him what he needs, and get out of the bleeping way. We have sucked horribly and we are still pulling the best talent in the league. We just need to commit to getting THE guy (and I don't think there is just one guy out there, probably several would do well here.)
  11. So to take those negatives and make them positives. He sees a basketball centric school in a basketball centric state that has resources allocated to basketball (even when things are going bad) that can only be matched by a handful of other schools in the country. He believes it is a sleeping giant in a conference that is going to be the only truly coast to coast conference in the country and that conference just happens to be in a position where if he gets rolling he could put it in a chokehold like Kentucky used to do to the SEC. As a cherry on top for the ego stroke, he knows if he gets this turned around that he immediately becomes royalty in the state.
  12. No it isn't a good thing. If we lose Walker, Johnson, Leal, Galloway, Gunn, Ware, Mgbako, and Banks that is 2/3 of the team. Having to fill 8 positions out of the portal in year 4 is a recipe for another failed year. That is the kind of turnover you do in year 1, not year 4. "Hey coach, I know you want me to come play for you. Can you tell me why most of your team is running from you?" That looks like a sinking ship. Good luck getting anybody here that is here for more than a payday.
  13. Yeah, believe so. This is going to be an almost complete rebuild out of the portal with Woodson. Indiana is run by morons.
  14. Coach is the most important player in a program. You can have the most talent on paper but if that talent doesn't fit what you are trying to do, it doesn't matter. Also, Indiana has a bad habit of doing the least with the most or near the most.
  15. And one was a gift because Gunn's foot was on the line for the last 3.
  16. Sorry guys. I didn't send them enough good fan juju today. Maybe next time I can cheer them to more made 3's and less missed free throws. Where can I go to donate another $100 to the participation trophy and snack NIL?
  17. You know what is refreshing about the ladies in contrast to the men? One program seems to have an unearned sense of entitlement about who/what they are and the other a sense of gratitude for recognition of what many of those young women have helped build themselves. They weren't just going through the motions tonight. Whomever is our answer on the men's side going into the future really needs to look at the way the culture has been built up under Moren. I hope they find some NIL money to support her program.
  18. Yeah, some of these calls have been beyond awful.
