Hey, I'm about as far as an insider as can be. While I do follow college b-ball 365 days a year, I really only know what you guys know. I think on the KU side there is some cautious optimism/hope for Romeo to pick KU, but at at the end of the day I think he's going to end up in Bloomington. I've never gotten the Vandy thing, IU makes sense. In-state school with a rich tradition and a rabid fan base. KU with the same, but with a more recent track record of really great teams with another great team set up for next season. Distance, at least in my mind, is an issue for the Langford family. I just don't see him leaving Indiana. Again, no insider, just a feel from an old dude.

Langford took an official visit to KU the last weekend of October, 2017. He's been there.

Two people have updated their Langford pick in the last four days.
  4. Duke insider just changed his Langford crystal ball pick from Vandy to KU this morning.

They haven't. But everyone connected to the program knows they are both gone. NBA drafted or not, they're gone. It was always Newman's plan to redshirt one year and play one year regardless of how his year went. Vick will probably end up playing in Europe.

Not the same situation, but I think about Trae Young a bit when it comes to Langford. Young came down to KU and OU and ended up picking OU for two main reasons, it was the in-state school he had boyhood ties to, and because he was going to be the focal point at OU in a way that he wasn't going to be at KU. Langford's recruitment has been different in that his parents have played everything close to the vest, while Trae Young's parents (father) were pretty public about everything. Langford would be the focal point at IU in a way that he would not be at KU. He's going to start regardless of where he goes, (KU loses Graham, Svi, Newman, and Vick) but at KU he would be one of the pieces of a really great team, while at IU he would be the guy. It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out. I just hope it's IU or KU.

IU recruited Vaughn hard. I remember watching some prep summer game of some sort that Vaughn played in between his junior and senior year in high school. Dick Vitale was doing color and he said on the telecast that Vaughn was headed to Indiana. I remember being annoyed because #1 Dick Vitale, and #2 I thought KU was still in on him.

David Magley was Mr. Indiana in 1978. Jacque Vaughn played high school ball in California.

I agree. I totally get IU or KU, but Vandy is a head scratcher for me if he goes there.

"I guess it depends on what Newman and Vick does. If they both stay and with you guys already have two 5 star guards Romeo might not want to go there. Newman and Vick are both gone. Newman's plan was always just to play one year after his redshirt, and Vick, from what I can glean, is being encouraged to leave. Agree with you, with those two back there is no room, and no way Romeo Langford would consider KU.

"Believe it or not, so did mine! Battle of Chickamauga?" He did! I just looked up the 68th Regiment service record and he was part of that. I have the paperwork from the U.S. government that was sent to my great-grandmother when he passed away in 1919 which notified her that she would begin getting a $25.00 a month pension as a Civil War widow. An amount that was increased to $30.00 per month one year later. Something that no doubt made her life easier. One more side note, when the documentary on the undefeated 1976 Indiana team came out I talked to a couple of my buddies about it. Both my age. That was such an unreal team. Kind of like the great UCLA Wooden teams of the late '60's and early 70's, you just had to pay attention to them. I remembered all those guys. I loved watching it. Really sad that Bobby Knight has so much trouble being a decent human being in dealing with his ill will towards IU. It just diminishes him when he should be reveling in what he accomplished at at the school. Man, I don't get it.

"Welcome, I look forward to your insight. Don't be a stranger." Thanks! I just need to remember my place and that this is an Indiana board. BTW, my great-grandfather fought with the 68th Indiana Regiment in the Civil War. I have some Indiana ties. Always thought that was pretty cool.

Perceived leaders for Hurt right now are UNC and KU.

Jayhawk chiming in here. First off, I have great respect for the IU program. Trust me, I knew who Everett Dean and Branch McCracken were in my teens (I'm almost 60) and have followed Indiana basketball since the Knight years. As a high school Junior I saw the 74-75 Indiana beat KU in Allen Fieldhouse, and mostly through Sports Illustrated in the '70's and online now read a lot about your program. Having just typed all that, I think you are discounting the chances KU has to get Langford. In my mind it's going to come down to IU and KU. I certainly have no inside info., and realize that the lure of the in-state program might be too hard to overcome, but I would not be surprised to see him pick the Jayhawks. I know he really likes and gets along well with the three incoming McDonald's freshman for KU. I might be a homer and slightly delusional, but don't sleep on the Hawks. BTW, this is a great board. Lots of really great civil discussions. Very refreshing.

Billy Preston was driving a used Dodge Charger, not a Lamborghini. No doubt something is/was fishy with Preston, but the Lamborghini made me laugh.
