  1. Wow. Just like everyone watching this game said: get the ball to Leat down low.
  2. My goodness, what a dumb foul.
  3. Isn't that little circle suppose to mean something?
  4. Can we now admit that his little phone-call gesture is dumb af?
  5. I hope May takes one of these jobs. Right now, he’s an Archie level hire. I wouldn’t hate it, but I’m not the least bit upset if we miss out on first dibs.
  6. Doesn’t matter that MSU beat them by double digits? Or that the only other power team they played beat them by 20?
  7. I’m seeing that they played two power teams and got waxed both times. That’s a lot of wins, so I won’t complain if they get in, but I don’t know about them deserving a bid way before we do.
  8. I'm not really who you're talking to, as I would prefer that Woodson is gone, but, if the choice is between Woodson with lots of NIL money and Day with little to none, I'm okay with Woodson back. I believe that if X would have lived up the potential he showed in his first year with us, we would be a very good team right now. I don't have a strong opinion as to why he didn't, it could be injuries, it could be Woodson's fault, could be X didn't work hard enough or listen enough - I think it's just some guys don't have it and things never click, it's no one's fault it just is what it is.
  9. If this guy is even in the right ballpark with his numbers (he says we have $6 million for the portal this year and that the average power conference starter makes $250k and the top 10 guys make around $1 million), then I like our chances for next year. That suggests we are spending way more than any other team in the portal this year. I'm sure it's not quite as simple as just making the highest offer, but those numbers suggest we can double what top teams are offering for 3 different guys. I don't think we're going to miss on very many guys we want if that's true.
  10. Are they not really the proof of that? They've had a steady stream of NBA talent, and not just NBA bound guys, but legit NBA stars, and still they disappoint almost every year. I'd rather have a transfer than a one year guy. Woody is playing the new money ball. I don't know if he can put the right guys together, but I think he has the right idea.
  11. What would it be if we fire him in a year?
  12. I know these things have been discussed here before, but there are too many pages to search through. Does anyone know how much money we save by firing Woodson in a year rather than this coming week? Does anyone know how much it would cost to buy our Pearl and/or May today vs. a year from now? Would you rather have Pearl with limited money, or Woodson plus 10 million dollars to spread around? There's certainly an argument to be made that the money would put us in a better spot to have a competitive roster next year, bring in a new coach a year from now, and have a better roster in place for the new guy - plus more money for the new guy to build with.
  13. His answers after the last game sure didn’t sound like they were coming from a guy who thought he would be back next year.
  14. As I said the roster is his fault, but if you are coach of this team with these players going into the year, what are you supposed to do? My only real point is, I don't know that we have a real idea of how Woody would like to run his offense, we simply know that his teams (partially, maybe largely his own fault) have had a lot of offensive talent in the post and very little elsewhere. He then did what he had to do. He could have played MM at the 4, but then who's the 3? Banks? Gunn? We just never had the talent. Ware and Reneau are far and away our best two offensive players. It's hard not to play them.
  15. I don't mean to defend him too much, but what was he supposed to do with this team? Have Cupps score 20 a night? X? There just weren't options. Certainly the roster is his fault, but he at least tried to get guys like Love and Knecht.
  16. We're seeing Galloway and Leal doing that right now. We saw Race do it last year. I agree, we won't see it from Banks, but I see no reason to think he is ever going to be a rotation player at this level. It's not like promising guys are leaving after 1 year. No longer promising guys are leaving after 2 - assuming Gunn actually leaves, I wouldn't be surprised either way. My guess is we will see Cupps grow over 4 years. Hopefully Newton will get the chance, too.
  17. I won't complain if we hit the same level of recruiting success.
  18. I was going to sit down and type out my best defense as to why we should keep Woodson, mostly to see if I can convince myself, but before I do, why are we so convinced this means anything? If Woodson was going to step down gracefully (mostly because he was told to leave) wouldn't this be the perfect precursor to that?
  19. I believe MN has 6 total fouls with under 7 minutes left in this game. Unreal what they can get away with.
  20. This seems like a great scenario for us. Let's see if he can cut it in a power conference. If he can, I get the idea we can poach him anytime we want.
  21. As I was checking out Pearl's track record, I came across the fact that Auburn has 4 transfers this year.
  22. Did something funky happen on the last play of the half? I don't have access to any replays, but it seemed like something, either the half-time clock or the shot-clock, went off with over a second left. Did I imagine that?
  23. Can't believe they called that on Ware after all of the contact and reaching they let MD get away with.
  24. They had two deep tourney runs. That 4 transfer stat seems pretty misleading. I wonder how many teams qualify? I would assume not many. To me, look at teams that have a couple of starters (that's what we need - it's really not hard to see us being hugely successful next year with just one transfer starting. I don't care too much how we fill out the back of the roster), just with 5 minutes of research, I found Houston, and Tennessee have two transfers starting. Kansas has one plus a top 7 rotation player. UConn is loaded with transfers in their 2nd year at the program (I would assume that means last year, which worked out quite well for them, they had a lot of transfers starting/rotation players.)
