  1. My expectations and wants are kinda cross contaminating at this point, but this coach will be in season 4, and it is what it is.
I expect/ want 1-3 in the conference, at least final 4 of B1G tournament, and Sweet 16. I also expect not to have multiple double-figure losses, and also to steal a few on the road in places we usually don’t win. Kohl Center would be top of the list, if we play there. Assimilating the Pac12 teams in to the conference will be a wild card, but I hope we make a good showing vs new competition, or risk sliding further into obscurity.
Expectation would be that 10+ losses would mean a new coaching staff as well, but until we start playing and winning ( or losing) games, I will lay off of them now because we are all in on next season.

  2. I’ve never been out for blood, and I never want to root against our own team. I thought it was a logical move to cut bait when the cupboard was empty so to speak, and there were several guys ripe for the picking- May, Mussleman, Beard, etc. I thought the staff did a poor job last year and would rate last season as a C-.
I would have preferred a coaching change, but as it stands, we are all in on CMW, like it or not, and getting top guys in the portal is a great first step. Lots on the line next season, as I’m sure coach is aware. Until we take a superiorly talented team on a sub par journey, all I can say is Go IU…

    Louisville homicides.

    - 2018 (80 homicides)

    - 2023 (150 homicides)

    - 15 in March alone of this year (just March, does not include January & February).

Luckily for me, my company moved it’s headquarters back over to Indiana and with these constant bridge issues, besides for an occasional trip to costco, we do not go over there for anything anymore

To clarify, not wanting May as head coach does not equate to wanting Woodson as head coach.

True, and now we get to see if it would have worked out. Kinda of like an experiment or something. I admit I’ve been a little ambivalent about May myself, having been burned by Archie. I guess the broader point I was trying to make is that I think for those who aren’t True Fans, every win that May gets, or God forbid any recruits he gets from the State of Indiana, or any losses to Michigan, just ratchets up the pressure that much more on Woodson. In my opinion, however, this proves that May was there for the taking, and I think we were at a very logical place to make a coaching move. It’s clear we are all in on Woodson now.

  5. Not sure if May would have been the Guy, but I feel that Woodson isn’t the guy. It seemed like a very logical chance, with the way the season turned out, after L McNeely decomittted, to make a clean break, since there are no recruits coming in. I appreciate those who are cautious saying May could be another Archie, but one things for sure; if he ISNT another Archie, and has any modicum of success at Michigan, it futher drives a wedge between non- True Fans and Woodson. More pressure has just been applied, and this could be the One That Got Away

  6. I hate that we are reduced to wondering if CJG should have played more. He came in to a game where we were already losing by 25+ points. He did not have any pressure on him, as he would have in a close game, and hunted as many shots/points as he could have gotten, more than likely for a mixtape ( whatever they are called ), and many of the shots he took were when the head coach had been, ahem, removed from his duties. Personally, I feel that he hasn’t developed very much, his jump shot mechanics are not good- impressive vertical- but that can cause a shot to be off. He, and especially Banks, seemed lanky, and never in full control of their bodies. Banks, with the exception of Walker, had some of the worst hands I have ever seen. The concept of looking for 5 star players who are turnkey for college and hopefully NBA, indicates a laissez faire coaching style, and if you include Cupps, players have not seemed to develop. In relationship to this thread, and not some of the other threads, why didn’t X guard Tominaga?  Sycophants, er, “true fans”

we talking that match up on Twitter before the game. I saw X on him a little in the second half, but not for the duration. Why was there not anyone on the team who could stop him? There were two other games of film to look at. How many “stars” did Tominaga have? Every team needs a player like Alec (sp). IU doesn’t have any. Although Leal would be pretty close. The point is, Nebraska has done more with less, and completely shamed IU 3 times since January. They did not change their defense against us, and they definitely did not change their offense. We made no adjustments and I fear looking for more turnkey players in the portal, will lead to less or the same amount of development for those who decide to stay.

  7. The irony of CMW showing enough passion to get ejected, ( what even happened ?)

CJ Gunn scoring at will the last quarter of the game

    Hitting 100% from FT line

    All this in a 27-point-blow-out-to-end-the-season.

Love Galloway and Leal. indiana kids thru and thru. Not going to be able to build a competitive team around just the two of them. Feels like things could be tense over the next couple weeks, while we sit back and watch our two most hated rivals contend for the Title.
And good Ol U of L just to our south potentially poaching our “dream coach”

  8. Trying to follow from work. Lot’s of layers to this thing, and seems to be a lot of unnecessary anger out there for sure. Same effect social media has had on politics and so many other areas of life these days.

I don’t think Woodson is the coach for IU in the future, or the present for that matter. The charade is over, now that TJD is gone, and negative recruiting has evidently hurt us for the Class of ‘24.

Having said all that, I can’t imagine booing our kids on Senior Day, and loudly booing our coach who was a legend here after 3 short seasons. I have seen engagements between DD and one of CMW’s daughters on Twitter in the past, and I can only think about how bad Archie Miller’s wife ( for those who remember-Wayyyy above his pay grade) was treated by our fans on social media.
Do I want him gone? Yes. Do I want a whole new staff,  minus Calbert and Hulls? Yes.
But this shouldn’t be rising to the level of hate and vitriol that it seems to be getting to, and our recruiting competition is licking their chops, hoping it continues. Hoping this resolves itself before things truly get out of hand.
It can only be a bad look for us and will enable recruiters to adversely affect our ability to sign players moving forward, or hire coaches for that matter.

  9. I take credit for the last 2 wins. As it turns out, I was a jinx. My apathy, poor attitude, and disappointment in the current product was inadvertently causing college kids 100 miles away to fold under pressure. Also, my failure to support the coaching staff without question was totally apparent, also causing them to make uncharacteristic decisions. I guess I will keep my displeasure to myself, or at least until the current win streak is snapped. ;)

Never a bad thing to play your best ball in March. 2024 BTT champs, anyone?

  10. My other feelings on hold for the moment, happy we won. The Leal box out may be my favorite play of what has been a bleak season. Happy to beat the Badgers. Worth beating them most years, even if we have a losing record. To quote the Great Farmer Fran, we live to play another day. Go IU

  11. I have to agree with those who can’t root against the Hoosiers. Although, recent efforts have gotten me close. There was a 3 in the Nebraska game that Mbako took that wildly deflected off the backboard. After the initial shock, I could only laugh. As a side note, I don’t agree with booing players at SSAH- which I consider the few times I have been there in my life as almost a pseudo- religious experience. ( even tried out for Blue Chips early one morning back in ‘92- audition lasted one layup lol)

But the rails have fallen off…

Like many others, I wanted CMW to be a great story- former player returns from 30 years in the NBA playing/ coaching to take the RMK mantle and return to greatness. I would have loved nothing more. And many may argue that could still happen if we were more patient.

The problem is, that with the right coaching, and I am not claiming to know precisely “who” that would be, and the portal, with NIL opportunities, turn around time should be much quicker. We see this happening all the time with other schools. They don’t need 5 years to raise free throw percentage or play competitive basketball.

Coach Woodson has taken a few baby steps, including winning a play in game and a 1st round game as a 4th seed. When we played real competition, the brakes were beaten off the Hoosiers- once again showing us where we stand. Many of you are from north of Seymour or so, and the #1 enemy is the Boilers. But for us Southern Indiana guys, it’s KY. And they loom on the schedule next year. Is the current product something we want to showcase in our return to Rupp?
I think there is a better answer, and the sooner the better.

Speaking of New Albany I'm glad the no one on Archie Miller's staff or Woodson looked at Sean East. He's only scoring 15 points a game shooting 40% from three this season.

They were (sort of) looking at him. When my daughter took a pic with Archie At Seymour she told him to make sure to look at East.
