For some people they love a state or a program so much that they don’t care what the job is they’ll take it. IMO based on Pearl’s interview he truly feels that way about Indiana. Same with Dusty May
True. Heck, in 1988 Bob Knight considering leaving IU for New Mexico - just a year after winning his third championship.

That isn’t really true. Magnus Pelkowski was a stud. Harris Muvcdgvcgvfdvich?
I completely forgot about those two (but that bolsters my point, lol).
I wonder how NIL & "professional status" pertains to younger Euro players. IMO if you're getting paid, you're getting paid.

How do we not find the guys from Japan?
IU has always stunk at finding foreign born players. Our"best" was Uwe Blab and the rest were Hanner Perea quality.
Heck, our only outstanding foreign guy was fictional - Ivan Renko. 🥸

I listened to the post game interview with Rosemond. Right from the start it was Woodson-esque - excuses followed by the old "we don't make excuses". Injuries, lack of preparation time, blah blah blah. At least he didn't cry about being tired from travel.
Regarding the ejection, two things: 1) As Woodson slowly walked off, it was the first time he just looked old. 2) It was interesting to compare Underwood's behavior at the refs in the earlier game to whatver it was that got Woodson tossed. Working the refs works but you can't wait untilMarch to start.
Overall disgusting performance, lackluster season, and lowest optimism level I can remember. Pew.

There was a lot of chest thumping after we beat three crappy teams and two average ones, but water always finds its level.
And no matter how hard ya try, you can't polish a turd.

Yeah, I'd expect nothing beyond the "exploring other options" line...
But we don't even have that yet...
Very likely the next statement he makes will be his new commitment (Kansas).

Man, that was some combo of defensiveness & arrogance. Almost sounds like he has doubts about his future. Almost.

We won the big ten in 80 and he was the MVP in the big ten. We won the NIT in 79 when that still meant something.
It meant "something" mostly because of who we beat.

Much deserved win on the strength of an outstanding second half!

Looks like we're gonna need to run the "fire alarm" play.

So neither of them knows? Or he's still coaching for his job? If he was coaching for his job wouldn't he be recruiting for his job too?
Maybe not. '25 players aren't going to save his bacon. He might be thinking the portal is where to focus all of his attention.
Obviously, if things crap out for him we end up in even worse shape.

Just like every time, if a coaching search happens, most of the innuendo here and elsewhere is made up BS. People might even think they're passing along something real, but it is tea leaves built on top of tea leaves built on top of twitter likes built on top of flight searches.
The foundation is not solid.
Enjoy the ride but don't take it like a rollercoaster
You touch on an unfortunately common sentiment - we are all so starved for quality IU basketball that we get our excitement and fun from coaching changes (real or not) instead of competitive games.🙁
Following recruiting & coaching searches is how we can express a degree of optimism & hope for the program.

I'm thinking that the "fire alarm" guy needs to have an assistant coaching position offered to him. Talk about advanced level gamesmanship ! Do you suppose Dusty May was in the balcony, undercover? 🙈🙉🙊
I've seen posts demeaning Gard for bringing it up in his post game interview. I'm not a fan of his, but if the situation were reversed we'd all be griping about it and few would be upset if our coach referred to it (well, if it was a coach we wanted 😉).

I don't really buy into these rumors, but with that said I think Bruce Pearl is probably gettable and would be a home run hire, though don't love his age.
The hard part of all of this, and I'm not trying to start a debate on this, but I also think Chris Beard could maybe be gettable, and I think he'd be a grand slam hire. The problem of course is his recent legal troubles.
It just stinks because I think Beard would check most every other box. He's even better than Pearl and younger. Also brings some of the Bob Knight connection, etc.
If he didn't have the legal issues, he'd be a grand slam hire. Though without the legal issues he probably wouldn't be gettable.
This is exactly my view. Those two are, IMO, the only "home run hires" currently being discussed. Heck, from a coaching standpoint, they may be better than Stevens, who hasn't coached/recruited at the collegiate level for several years.
I haven't heard anyone complaing about Cigs age and both programs need the same thing - a savior to rebuid them.

Of the two choices it has to be Woodson. Certainly both are factors but the tiebreaker is that Mike Woodson chose the roster and who plays.

I did say that and I am not saying emailing them will lead to a change. Just saying make your voice heard and let them no of your concerns. Also I was more talking about the hiring process when stating don't hire someone just because the fans wants them.
That's fair.

I think it will s time for the fans who are done with Woodson to make their voices heard. Not just on message boards and social media but to the actual decision makers. Like my Political Science Professor said, if you don't vote then you have no right to complain about what is happening. So get out their and join me in emailing the administration and let your voice he heard. I haven't emailed Dolson since the PSU game and probably won't until the season ends.
Does this sound familiar (because it should):
"No college or pro organization is going to hire or fire just because the fans want it to happen. That is the best way to get yourself fired. If they listen to fans the coach would he fired after every game. In the the pros a player would get traded after every bad game. "

Woodson shouldn’t have been put in the head coach position in the first place. Someone in the admin knew he was lacking or they wouldn’t have created a new position to put Matta in to oversee and guide him.
Indeed. As a fan, I feel we got the old "bait & switch" with Woodson. We were to believe we hired a guy with no CBB coaching experience but were surrounding him with a support staff to guide him along. What we ended up with is an uprepared coach and a mentor who was locked in a basement for a year before he escaped.
Basically like this guy:

Gotta say, Team Woodson has built a damn good reputation for signing (elite) recruits with the clock running out.
